I'm Orange Through and Through

By Heath S. from Jasper, AL
Music Background: Playing longer than I have advanced

Ive had a Dark Terror for many years, and I love it. Saw a good deal on this one thanks to my sales reps, and took it. In 10 minutes I had my tele dialed in, and switched to my P90 SG and was vlown away.

Orange is the perfect amp for me and the sound I want. Rocker 15 Terror is spot in. Warm tone, drop the wattage and drive the natural channel... this amp is perfect and I recommend it.

Orange rocker 15 terror tube head

By Doug B. from Pensacola, Florida
Music Background: Trumpet 8-16 years old. Bass from 13 till now 57 years later. Guitar for about the last 20 years for my sanity.

Wow!! I really dig this little amp! I received it last week and I am really impressed with it. I just finally tried the 0.5 watt bedroom mode and was very happy with it ( the 1 watt mode is great too). I am pleasantly surprised as I have tried a few amps with attenuation that usually lost most tonality, clarity, and real tube beautiful fullness. I am also very pleased with the one knob "Natural" channel. The one knob un-adjustable tone-stack is spot on in my opinion with single coil or humbucker. That's a big bonus to me. This little beast retains all the tube nuances as if it was still in the 15 watt (full power) or 7 watt (half power) modes which are also extremely satisfying, although a wee bit loud for my bedroom playing. It comfortably covers all the bases from rocking out in the middle of the night…which I do almost every night … all the way to being able to utilize it for small gigs ( regrettably I don't do that much anymore…getting old and very limited physically). I am very happy with this purchase. Hopefully it will last a long time (I think it will) as I play everyday. Highly recommend this unit!! It's the real deal.

Outstanding tone and feel

By Ryan

I have played guitar for 25 years, this is the best amp I have ever owned, and one of the best I have ever played through. Perfect for classic/hard rock. Very smooth feel and tactical response in a forgiving way. The clean channel is way better in person than I saw on any online demos. It's extremely easy to dial in tones on this amp, almost all eq settings sound musical. If it doesn't sound good it's your fault; not the amp. I've tried a few combos and lunch box heads looking for the classic rock sound in my head and was never satisfied , but this is it. Boosts well with an overdrive to get into the lower levels of high gain. I've never been happier with an amp purchase.

Great Amp!!

By KH from Zionsville, IN
Music Background: Bedroom Shredder

Simple design and easy to dial in a good tone. Bedroom/headroom option is what sealed the deal for me when I was looking for a new amp and it doesn't disappoint. I think the 1W setting sounds almost as good as the 15W setting. Paired it with the PPC112 Cab for primarily home/bedroom use and i'm usually on the 1W setting. Super happy with the combo. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the fact that there's no EQ for the clean channel, but i'm not unhappy with the sound.

Punches above its weight

By Brent B. from Plano, TX
Music Background: Synth, Guitar, Piano. Music Production and Scoring

I've been a huge fan of the Orange sound over the years and the Rocker Terror 15 delivers in every aspect of what I like about tube amps, and Orange specifically.

I needed an amp head that was of a lower wattage that could be adjusted for studio work and recording in to a DAW from a load box. The 15 watts may not sounds like a lot, but when I plug it into a 2x12 cab it can still take the paint off the walls.

2 channels to play with.

The Natural channel at first seems very basic with only volume control, but this has actually ended up being my favorite to play. Small adjustments in volume will take you the entire tone spectrum. At lower vol, you get nice chimey cleans that are very clear. As you increase the juice you are introduced to some cruchiness, and when its cranked the tubes absolutly wail and are easily pushed into sweet OD breakup.

The Dirty channel is pure British attitude. Vol and gain controls on their own can hone in a lot of great sounds, but the 3 band EQ allows you to further sculpt the perfect tone. Its gritty, fuzzy, has lots of bite and growl and is nasty in the best possible way

One thing that made me fall in love with the natural channel is that its basically unadulterated and responds extremely well to pedals. So if you are a big fan of pedals and using them to craft tones then the Rocker Terror 15 is a sure bet!

Sounds great and tough!

By Pedro R. from Oakland Park, FL
Music Background: Local veteran South Florida musician, original and cover music, studio and live

OK, so first off, this thing sounds great! Don't be alarmed because the clean channel has only a volume control - it sounds rich and full and beautiful. The dirty channel has great sustain and a wide range of tonal options. I've had several comments to the effect of "Your rig sounds great!". Thanks :)

Don't be put off by the fact that it's 15 watts. This thing is loud, plenty loud for club gigs, and in smaller clubs you'll want to use the Half power setting - 7 monster watts!

Lastly, this thing is tough! If you're like me, rushing to get to a gig and maybe didn't pack your SUV as well as you should, get it together :D, but don't sweat this little head. On my last two gigs, I've opened the hatch to my SUV only to have my Rocker 15 tumble out into the street in its little padded bag with a horrifying CLUNK! Amazingly, it still works. So don't despair, poor-loading rockers, this little beast won't let you down. Rock on!

Amazing little amp

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Hobby musician

The tones are great. Super versatile as well. FX loop. It takes pedals well. A boost will take the gain up to the modern metal sound. The bedroom switch is killer and almost no noise when engaged. It looks nice and is built like a tank. It comes with a gig bag and power cord. All that said, the best thing about this amp that no one talks about is that it has two 8ohm jacks and a 16 ohm jack that can all be ran to suitable cabs simultaneously. I'm almost certain that it would power 3 4x12s. I personally use two single 1x12s and a 2x12 and the mixture of speakers and cabs sounds phenomenal to my ear and adds volume. It is a great feature that provides flexibility for live and studio applications.

It sounds really nice with a sweet IR as well. A load box and DI would have made this the perfect amp head. Fingers crossed that a mark 2 will have one that works better than another mh head with numbers that add up to 16.

Rocker terror 15 head, buy one.

Great British Juice!!! My search is over

By Keith from Bucyrus Ohio
Music Background: Former guitarist for Chicago band Contagion and now guitarist for God at my church. Been playing 43 years

Being an Orange fan already with the v crush amps it was a no-brainer that I owe myself a good tube amp. This amp after much research and 2 trips to Sweetwater I decided on an Orange terror. This amp covers everything from super clean as you'd want to good ole classic British sound. The gain on this very articulate even when dimed, every note is defined.Add an overdrive if you want and surely your knocking on heavier sounds but still never muddy. The controls are basic so no manual is needed and they do work, you'll get full spectrum of tobes from this compact amp but don't let size fool you guys this amp will keep up in rehearsal just fine or even at a gig. The power options are great so even if your in an apartment you can get dint righteous sounds on this at low volume. It's built sturdy so it will take an accident or 3 but who abuses their amps right? So buy this simple to use amp but be ready for some huge sounds and an amp that makes you want to play it. Orange makes great amps and even though they have evolved from the early days they still keep it real simple to use and have not lost focus on the customers. Get juiced you won't regret it one bit. These amps are sure to be a classic

Very happy with the amp. It ha plenty of in live situations while the "bedroom" setting provides volume control to practice at night. Well build and easy to set up.

Fantastic and versatile amp

By Brian from Baltimore
Music Background: Professional composer/musician

This amp is fantastic, and provides you with that unmistakable Orange tone at any volume. The gain tops out fairly early compared to a lot of other amps I've tried, like a blackstar ht40, Boss Katana, or my Randall RD20 head. This is not a high gain amp, but that doesn't mean it can't get really nasty. To do modern metal you will need to boost it with an overdrive, and I highly suggest using a Boss SD1 as it pairs much nicer with this amp than a Tube Screamer (this amp is super mid heavy and the boss evens it out, while the tube screamer gives it TOO much mids). I use this amp to play vintage, bluesy rock and even more modern metal. The response of this amp is quite fuzzy/wooly and loose, but it's got such a thickness and density to the saturation that is just amazing to experience. The clean channel works great with pedals, and I often use the Friedman BE OD deluxe on the clean channel to give it totally different gain voicings with a lot more tightness. I have it paired with two Orange PPC 112 cabs. Having at least two 12" speakers does a lot to really open this one up. Overall one of the absolute best all tube heads for the money and suits a huge range of styles. If you want a unique amp with pure character and a super dense and 3D sounding distortion, don't skip this one.

Awesome Orange Amp!

By Steve L. from Kentucky
Music Background: Long time tone chaser

Lower power tube amps are all the rage these days and the Orange Rocker 15 Terror is one of the best. I paired it with an Orange PPC112 speaker cab which is a superior product as well. With no EQ on the clean channel, the amp offers a totally transparent signal for pedals or is great as a stand alone sound to showcase a particular guitar's attributes. The dirty channel has all the Orange drive goodness they're famous for. It will support Orange colored cleans, to mild breakup, and take you to classic rock and early metal easily. If you want heavy metal or doom, just throw a drive pedal in front and it'll take you there. The 4 power levels are awesome for giving you the ability to have driven tube tone whether your practicing in a bedroom or needing to take to the stage. Like all Oranges, they're built like tanks and are some of the most dependable amps on the market. Very versatile amp and I highly recommend it.

Rocking Bliss

By Sweetwater Customer

This is my second tube amp(first was an Egnater Tweaker 15). And I have to say I think I've found the perfect amp for me. Not too heavy, built in attenuator, 2 channels, plenty of gain for what I play. I was worried that not having an EQ for the Natural channel would be an issue, but it's not. It will start to break up once you start cranking it though. If you throw an SD1 in front of it on the dirty channel, wow. Absolutely love this thing. Many thanks to Jed for keeping me updated.

Just buy it

By Gary

What can I say that hadn't already been said? This amp is the freaking bomb.

I have a dark terror which kicks *** in its own right but always wished it had two channels.

No the dirt channel is not the dark terror but somewhat akin to a cranked plexi. Bedroom wattage!!! Just buy it if you're thinking about it, also the clean channel is freaking sublime and takes pedals soooooo well.

Love this amp!

By Mike from State College, PA

I'm just a middle-aged hack trying to get better, and living my adolescent rock star fantasies, but this amp sounds so good, and it is crazy loud. I had a Marshall V65 combo amp and I hated it: muddy sound, could never get the tone I wanted. This amp sounded great out of the box, and now I'm experimenting dialing in different tones. I dig the headroom/bedroom switch, though I find the tone not nearly as satisfying with the headroom setting. Go figure, right?

Awestruck and Dumbfounded

By Tim D. from Dayton, OH
Music Background: I beat up on guitars and look silly while doing it.

I have spent many years playing metalcore, so my 5150 has always been a trusty steed. But with downsizing being all the rage, and not wanting to buy what is just a smaller version of the head I have, I decided to diversify and buy a Rocker 15. All the videos I've seen on it show that it has solid tone, a small profile, flexible power settings, and a nifty little gig bag to boot.

All of my expectations on this amp have been THOROUGHLY exceeded. I thought this amp's one drawback might be that it wouldn't have quite enough gain for my playing style, but that could be fixed with a signal boost. Anyway, to make a long story short, I was dead wrong about the gain. I leave it set at about 75% and it just sings its little heart out. It's also really fun to dial it back a bit for some of those oh-so GenX grunge riffs.

I hate being the guy to say "I've played this and that head over so many decades" but I have owned a lot of neat amps over the years. This one might be the coolest, however. I've never owned a head that sounded so good with less than 30 seconds of tweaking after turning it on.

Good job, Orange. I'm a fan for life!

This AMP lives up to its name.

By DJ S. from Astoria OR

I bought this amp because I needed a smaller wattage tube amplifier. My Marshall DSL 100 watt is awesome. But I also needed things at lower decibels at times. This amp does that. But be aware this amp is fully capable of ROCKER TERROR LOUDNESS.I wired it up to both of my Marshall 4x12"s. And man can it push air! Wow! I have only good things to say about it. It is built very well. And it sounds amazing. I'm already a better player because of it. If you are looking for an affordable amplifier this is the one. Thanks to Skyler @ Sweetwater. He made the whole process smooth and easy.

Unbelievable Amp

By Matt from Maryland

I've been playing guitar for 20 years and most of what I've enjoyed so far has been acoustic. After building a nice collection of guitars, I could never really get the sound I wanted as I was buying the wrong amps. I'm mostly a basement player and this amp is PERFECT for my needs. If I ever wanted to gig, it would work great but I'm mostly using the .5 and 1 watt settings. I love the tube sound but have always had too much horsepower in my previous amps (Marshall TSL and Blues Reverb Deluxe) for any practical use with a warmed tone. I picked up a cheap Orange solid state a couple years ago for low volume and couldn't believe how good it sounded and decided to finally get the Rocker. This is my BIFL amp. It's expensive but very worth it. I wouldn't have complained about reverb but it's a great value either way. With any bigger purchase, I'll always go Sweetwater as they are the best in customer service. Rob was very helpful in setting me up with this purchase.

Loud and Beautiful

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Rock Guitarist

This amp is absolutely amazing! The natural channel eccentuates the sound of the guitar and works wonderfully with a pedal board, and the dirty really allows you to push it from a light blues to some really well-spoken crunch. I love everything about this amp, not to mention it looks gorgeous sitting on top of a cab.

Sickest amp I have ever played

By David H. from California
Music Background: Self taught

I can't praise this amp highly enough. The gain structure and tightness of its overdriven tone is outstanding. It gives me chills! The versatility of 15/7/1/0.5 watts over 2 channels means there is a lot of exploring left to do, but so far I haven't been able to get a bad sounding tone out of this amp! The tone knobs are so responsive that you can hear the difference from a slight turn, all the way across their ranges. Same goes for the gain knob, an adjustment of only 0.5 on the dial makes a huge change in the amount of breakup you hear coming from this amp! As a bonus, this amp is cathode biased, so it is cheap and easy when it comes time to change some tubes! Thanks Ryan and Sweetwater for the fast shipping and friendly interactions when placing this order!

Killer little amp

By Matt H. from RI

The cleans sound great, not as sparkly as your typical Fender but very nice none the less. The dirty channel is where this really shines, though, taking you from classic rock crunch to early metal distortion with the turn of the gain knob and with the bedroom switch you can run the power tubes hot without your neighbors hating you. If you want a good rock amp, you should check this one out, highly recommended.

Solid Amp

By Keith S. from Mesa, AZ.
Music Background: Hobbyist

I'm really impressed with the Rocker 15 Head. Having previously owned the Rocker 15 combo, I sort of knew what to expect with the head version of this amp. The combo model sounded "boxy" to me due to the small speaker and enclosure. Being able to hook this up to a larger cabinet has really made this a useful amp. The cleans, while not crystal, are really good. An EQ on the clean channel would be nice, but it's voiced well and totally usable. The gain structure is good, but the taper on the volume and gain pots could be a lot smoother. The amp takes pedals OK on the natural channel. Drive pedals on the low power or "bedroom" setting will break up quickly if that's your thing. Being able to play high gain at low volumes is really nice. Overall, a solid amp from Orange and a great addition to the Terror range.
