JHS Red Remote Auxiliary Footswitch Reviews
The JHS Red Remote footswitch is an incredibly powerful tool for unlocking the full, hands-free potential of many of your favorite JHS effects pedals. Using a standard 1/4" instrument patch cable, just plug the Red Remote into the corresponding input jack on your Morning Glory, Super Bolt, or Twin Twelve pedal to activate each pedals' onboard toggle switch with your foot. Sweetwater guitarists agree, one of the most attractive features of the Red Remote is its compact size, allowing you to fit it on virtually any pedalboard setup.

Solid!
It seemed a bit overkill and I had a hard time spending $ for such a simple device, but it's solid and it works, and it feels like I could throw it off a building and it would be fine. Sometimes durable and solid construction is worth the extra $ or so this was over the cheap Chinese competitor. I'm fine with that.
This is a rock solid switch.
This is a well built switch and it works really well with my Morning Glory.
The Basic Little Red Switchbox
I bought a used bass amp which did not come with the channel footswitch it had when new, so I tried this and it works perfectly, with just a standard tip/sleeve instrument cable. Click, switch. Thanks, JHS ... and science!
Footswitch
Hosa makes a latching switch near half the cost. But it's not red, not this small, and doesn't have a JHS logo on it. This product works great with the morning glory.
Works For JHS Of Course, But Also A Pleasant Surprise
As far as switching between settings on JHS pedals, it does that. Definitely more necessary than I originally thought it would be. I actually wish more of their pedals used this now.
The pleasant surprise: This works on my '87 Roland Jazz Chorus to switch the chorus effect on and off (works for the distortion and tremolo too, but I never use those on this amp). I have a few different footswitches for different things, and none of the others worked, so obviously not just any footswitch in the world works for this amplifier. I tried this one last, because it was the last one I thought would work. Lo and behold, it did. Really happy that I can also use it for this purpose. Saved me searching for and buying yet another switch, plus it's really small.
So, if you have a JHS pedal with this capability, you'll probably end up needing it sooner or later depending on how and where you are playing. If you have a Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus amp and you want/need a sturdy footswitch for any of the onboard effects, especially one that only takes a tiny bit of real estate on your board, this is probably your best option.
Does what it's supposed to do
The red remote is a great addition to the Superbolt V2 (or whatever other JHS-compatible pedal you're buying it for). Quick shoutout to the Superbolt V2--an amazing pedal and one of my new favorites. The red remote is easy to connect and is easy to fit on a pedalboard.
JHS Auxiliary Footswitch
Because the Morning Glory maintains my amps tone, I keep it on all of the time, and then hit this footswitch when I need to have some volume gain. It's awesome. Thanks JHS and my Sweetwater Sales Engineer Nick Tamez for the recommendation.
It's a red footswitch
It does exactly what it advertises. If you need an external footswitch for a pedal JHS does it right.
For your red button needs
works perfectly
Nice Compromise
I got this to go with the JHS Twin Twelve pedal. Someone else wrote that it would be nice to have the 2nd switch (the morning glory, in their case) on the pedal itself. If it came that way, I would have bought it, but ... I'm guessing they're trying to keep the form factor smaller & the price down, so there's that. Also, this works as the channel selector for my Orange combo amp (so I'm guessing as a channel selector for more than a few things).
Great added functionality
Using this with the Boss/JHS Angry Driver. Helps for added functionality without taking up too much space in the board.
Awesome
It does exactly what it is supposed to do... sends my morning glory into more gain and more volume.
Thumbs up
Perfect for your morning glory pedal!
Time saver
I got this to go with the Boss Angry Driver pedal. It's nice to be able to switch between the 2 options on the pedal with this switch. Thanks Riley Koenemann for the great customer service.
cool
It is good to have this option,
But it would be better if the switch came integrated in the pedal.
It looks very cool super small pedal
You just need it! Ya know?
I got the Red Remote for my Twin Twelve v2! Only having two drives on my travel board, I wanted the added dirt that the red side of the TT could give me. Having this is exactly what I needed!
Little Red=Big Option
Simplicity is the key to design! No 48 page manual here. I've been noticing that a lot of current pedals & stomp boxes have been adding another jack input. That's where this pocket size gem steps up depending on the manufacturer. For now you can have two on the fly options for one pedal. Sweet! No heavy stomping required.
Convenient
I bought the Red Remote for use with the latest version of the JHS Morning Glory. It's just a footswitch, and it's not a necessity, but it's a nice convenience because it eliminates having to reach down and flip the pedal switch for the increased gain. It measures less than 2' square and requires no power.
Cool Tool
Would get 5 stars, but it's a simple switch. I appreciate activating the extra gain section of my JHS Morning Glory without having to flip a switch. Came nicely packaged from Sweetwater and from JHS. JHS included a button and guitar pic, which was a nice surprise. If you own a JHS pedal that has the input for a Red Remote....just order it.
Well worth the $
I bought this footswitch for the JHS Double Barrel and I'm happy with it. The only issue I had with the Morning Glory side of the DB was that I couldn't go from the low gain setting to high w/o reaching down and flicking the switch on the pedal but no longer. The Red Remote enhances the versatility of the MG w/o increasing the volume when you switch to high gain: it's not meant to be a boost really it's kind of like going from the Stones to Radiohead where before it was just the Stones...or Radiohead. Actually it was neither but If you ever need to toggle the switch on your JHS pedal and it has an output for the Red Remote get it definitely.
Works great, but this the rare overpriced item from JHS
This is a latching switch that operates without any external power, and that's great. But that's literally all it is, so it's a little goofy that JHS charges $ for it. After all, they offer many excellent full-featured pedals for $.
For whatever reason, it's very hard to find standalone latching switches outside of this one (unless you want Boss's offerings which are bizarrely enormous). So this JHS pedal kind of has the market cornered. The upside is that it's very well built and will probably last forever. But if I'm being honest, they should either lower the price or——better yet——just put a second footswitch on the Morning Glory and other such pedals.
Some things to know before deciding
Lower profile than the Double Barrel I purchased it with. Could make it difficult to stomp on a tight pedalboard. As I stated in my Double Barrel review, there is a big increase or decrease in volume depending on where the MG side gain switch is set. Maybe not much of an issue if jamming at band volume, but at bedroom level an issue.
Broke after only a few uses
Yeah, so I've noticed a decline in the quality of JHS as of late and this little guy is no different. Sure, I can fix it, but I shouldn't have, too. Considering the solder broke on the one wire inside, I'm not impressed. When it worked, it worked. But it broke way too soon and honestly, I don't know how as it was internal and not subject to torque or stress. Such is life.
