Reviews

Best batter heads
Emperors have always been my go to batter heads. All my drum sets always sound better with a new set of Emps. I prefer the clears loose for rock and the coated tuned higher for a funk or jazz tone.
Great Drum Heads
Just what I was looking for. These drum heads made the significant change in sound I was looking for, the stock heads in my kit don't have the same warmth of sound.
Emperor coated heads stand taller than non coated heads
Every drum sounds different with different heads. Coated heads tone down sound a little bit compared to non coated heads. These heads are twin ply, so it uses two layers of mylar, many other heads use one thicker ply instead. Remo Ambassadors are one ply. With two ply vibrations are toned down a bit compared to one ply heads. There are variations on construction such as "oil filled" or "hydraulic" these use a material sandwiched between two layers like Remo Pinstripes. Heres how my head choices went on a Ludwig Signet drum set I just bought used. I started with a new set of pinstripes because drums seemed too alive. Pinstripes made drums sound dead. Tried Ambassadors and not enough control over drum ringing. Bought these Emperors and drums sounded wonderful. Exactly the amount of ring and brightness and warmth I was looking for. Other drums I own sound their best with one ply or oil filled heads. I try and predict what new heads will sound like, but I never know until I try them. I recommend these heads as a good starting point for your drums.

These emperors sound great, nice warm tone
Fantastic Heads
I've been using these heads for years and every set has held up strong and lasted a long time and sound fantastic. They're very easy to tune as well
