Add Extreme Impact to Your Snare Drum

Beef up your snare sound with a Remo Powerstroke 77 coated batter drumhead. If you enjoy big, meaty snare tone with old-school pop and spank, then this 2-ply drumhead's for you. Bolstering the Powerstroke 77 snare drumhead's dual 7-mil Mylar plies are a narrow 7-mil underlay ring and a 5-mil clear center dot, which are two features the drummers at Sweetwater happily recommend. Together, these reduce overtones and focus your sound, while adding serious durability. Whether you're tracing ghost notes along the edge or wailing away on the sweet spot, your Remo Powerstroke 77 coated batter drumhead will deliver exceptional tone and response.

Remo Powerstroke 77 Coated Clear Dot Drumhead Features:

  • Snare batter head with 2 plies of 7-mil Mylar construction
  • Small 7-mil underlay ring (P3 style) reduces overtones
  • A 5-mil clear center dot provides added durability
  • Excellent playing response from center to edge

Saves You Serious $$$

How do you do that first of all with 2x7 mil plies and a 5 mil center dot it will last a long, long time. Another way it will save you big bucks is if you think you have to buy that ultra overpriced raw brass or bronze shell just try one of these on your current brass or bronze shells and it will sound as good or better, and save you $ bucks. Not kidding!

I love this drumhead
The Remo Powerstroke P77 is the best snare drum head on the market. It's super durable. It's sounds great! Its awesome! I'm using this head live and in studio, it's perfect for my playing style. Thank You Sweetwater & Remo!

Amazing Snare Batter Head
Pretty much my go to snare head choice. Durable, can tune it high for some controlled pop, and especially tune it low for some fatness. Obviously its not suited for every genre, but you still get plenty of ring from this thing even despite all the built in muffling.
Perfect for my 'fat' snare
This head is designed to bring out the mid and low sound spectrum in any snare drum. I've even seen some people use it for tom-toms.

I got a Remo Powerstroke 77 Clear Dot and an Evans EC Reverse Dot head to figure out which would make a better 'fat' snare sound on my Ludwig Supralite steel snare.

While both were nice, the Remo easily came out with the controlled and powerful 'thud' that I was after -- the sound I was looking for is the one you hear in Skid Row's 18 and Life, throughout Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation album, or Tina Turner & Bryan Adams's It's Only Love.

Request to Remo: it would be fantastic if you collaborated with Sweetwater and brought out a YouTube video on what each of your drum head lines mean in terms of sound. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, check out Evans videos on YouTube -- such videos and explanations make it easy for us drummers to pick the right head.
Beautiful head
I have been trying out different snare heads for over a year. Ambassadors and emperors, both regular, vintage, and X models. Controlled sound. Pinstripe. Some Evans heads. I was happy with a regular ambassador, but wanted to try this. I was cautious that it would choke my Supraphonic too much, but I was very wrong.

This head has an amazing, unique sound, and probably the fullest/fattest head I've ever heard. It really brings out the fullness (low to low-mid) range of the snare, with a rolled off top end. It is still open sounding, but controlled, without any harshness/brashess from the stick contact. That being said, it still has great focus and definition. Would highly recommend giving it a try for pop/funk/rock contexts!
