Modulator Effects Pedal for Guitar with 11 Modulations, Depth Control, Rate Control, Volume and Color Control, and Momentary Mode

The Electro-Harmonix Mod11 Modulator Machine is a mash-up of 11 modulation effects crammed into one stompbox. With a range of classic and exotic effects to choose from, you can take total control over your guitar's sound and create truly one-of-a-kind tones. You can use the depth, rate, and color knobs to dial in your tone easily. Guitarists at Sweetwater especially liked the "hidden" parameters that you can access with the mode control. The Mod 11 comes equipped with momentary mode to add quick flashes of modulation and tap tempo. The tap tempo feature can be used with the onboard footswitch or an external switch. The Electro-Harmonix Mod11 will be the Swiss army knife of modulation for your pedalboard.

EHX Mod 11

By Robert B. from MATTITUCK, NY
Music Background: Amateur bass and guitar player.

I'm still learning and trying to remember all of the features of this pedal (I have the manual at hand), but I'm having fun with it. I have kind of a stereo setup with the Mod 11 on either my bass amp or my acoustic guitar amp, and my Spark 40 amp and Cab with all of its effects, and an ABY switch. It has all of the modulation effects that I need and more. It's fun to experiment. Great pedal! Thanks to Sweetwater!

Lots of hidden delights

By Sweetwater C. from Northern California

I was sold on this as soon as I heard the Harmonic Tremolo demo, but there are lots of other fine and unusual models here – even among the tamer effects. Set the Pitch Shift to unison + detune, and you have a chorus with no swirl. (There's also octave + 5th.) Both Tremolos, and the Vibrato, add 2 envelope-triggered options (rate or depth). The Leslie is very usable, and offers overdrive and envelope-triggered rate options. You can select among multiple waveforms. Chorus comes in 3 flavors, although the Tri-Chorus model here is not as flexible as on my EHx Key 9.

You also get the usual EHx idiosyncrasies: There's only 1 effect at a time, and no presets. (The pedal will remember your last setting on each of the effects as you switch among them, but if the knobs move between sessions, all bets are off. You always need a sound check.) All the exotic options are hidden under cryptic button combinations, so you need the manual. The Rotary doesn't support tap tempo, so if you want to ramp fast/slow like a real Leslie, an external footswitch is essential. (The tap tempo on other effects is actually confusing and annoying, but you can switch it off semi-permanently, and plugging in a footswitch automatically defeats it.)

Great first pedal

By Sweetwater Customer

Uncle gifted it to me (who is also a guitar player) as my first pedal, great options and tones for beginner/intermediate players to fiddle around with.

Awesome, I give it an 11 (out of 10)

By Noel
Music Background: Hobbyist, worship team guitarist

Super cool pedal. Easy to use and dial in, the modes within each effect setting are super easy to navigate through with a push of the "mode" button. The vast majority of the effects sound great! Trem modes are lovely, the univibe is about a much as you need, chorus has 3 flavors (all usable), etc. The color knob for the first 6 (or so) effects works as a volume knob so you can set the level to unity (or boost it). With the exception of the pitch, I was impressed with all the effects on tap (and I have EHX, Boss, Old Blood, Walrus, EarthQuaker, Mr. Black stuff to compare to). To have a one-stop-shop of modulation effects just parked on your pedalboard from a SINGLE pedal, especially if you only use modulation sparingly/occasionally, is GOLD. It saves space for other other pedals that you may need more often when pedalboard real-estate is limited. I will mention, each effect/mode does have its own range on the "depth" knob, so one setting will not always sound right when switching between modes, but if you just need modulation on one song here and there (like for a short set at church on a Sunday), this pedal may be perfect for your needs. While you can get individual effect pedals for each effect that may sound better, this pedal will do you right for a fraction of the cost.

Add One Great Pedal and Lose Eleven.

By Steve P. from Milton, Massachusetts
Music Background: Better at 71, than at 21 (musically!) and better equipped.

I was maneuvering through a bunch of separate modulation pedals, but, with the MOD 11, I was hoping for more than just saving space...and I found it - great, distinct sound quality! Eleven different modulation types, with room for more unique characters within each type, makes for a staggering amount of variation in one small pedal. I settled down and took time to explore it today. The result was....I'm thrilled with what I got....a real bargain, too! EHX makes quality products at reasonable prices.

Great Multi Use Pedal

By Harley from SC

I don't use a lot of modulation but I wanted something on the board for when I wanted to throw something extra in. This pedal is a great option and you can get very useful sounds out of it. Now that I have it I find myself using the rotary, tremolo, and univibe more than I have in the past. It's nice to have that extra layer of dimension on tap when you want it without cluttering your board.

Impressive!!!

By Tom from Albany NY
Music Background: Professional Guitar Player for 30 years - mostly classic rock, folk, singer-songwriter stuff

I am usually skeptical about multi-effects units. There are a lot of similar pedals out there that fall under the category jack of all trades, master of none. NOT this pedal. I was delightfully surprised to find ALL of the sounds useful, lush, and musical. The features and controls provide an abundance of possibilities. It has replaced (4) pedals on my pedal board and I love this thing!

Versatile pedal for the money!

By Tim H. from Louisville, KY
Music Background: Gigging musician. Classic rock, blues and Jamband.

This pedal is great for saving space on your board. There are multiple modes for each effect. I dig the chorus and phaser. The pitch shifter function is a little goofy, but that's to be expected. Only real complaint is not being able to use multiple effects at once, but that's not really my bag anyway. Great value.

Great pedal.

By Landon from Mississippi

I bought this to have a mod pedal to do it all. I only use a few of the sounds so I don’t need a ton of pedals. The harmonic tremolo sounds better than the monument in my opinion. There is no loss in low end on the harmonic term setting. I also love the univibe mode. Also love the octave down down mode. The phaser seems to be unable to nail my small stone. Rotary sounds good but something I employ often. Great pedal all in all.

Wasnt my Favorite

By Jay from MI

I was a huge fan of the Oceans 11 reverb and the Canyon delay so I gave this a try. I did like some of the effects but was overall underwhelmed with this unit. I took this back and I am waiting on the Boss Md 200.
