The Model-D for the Future
The Arturia Mini V3 is incredibly cool. There is truly sooo much you can do over a standard Model-D from an extra LFO that doesn't eat up oscillator 3 to velocity as a modifier to varying actual pulse widths static or modulated to individual amounts of any modifier on each oscillator all made possible by the eight slot mod matrix. The major failing that I take no points off from this synth is that it does not have the natural drift of the original Model-D. I'm pretty sure I have heard & seen oscillator drift in soft software synths so I'm not sure why it's omitted here but as long as you detune your oscillators to taste you get a rich sound that in context will surpass a Minimoog in terms of sheer flexibility & enhancements every time. The built in chorus & delay sound good but really aren't necessary for most patches. I never found a use for the vocal filter as I would have preferred female articulations or the motion recorder as it always restarts with each note press & isn't free running like say a Moog 1125 which would have been an ingenious touch. Maybe in a future update. For sheer flexibility from enhancements such as polyphony & velocity to being able to automate sequences & performances to never needing to service your instrument the Arturia Mini V3 delivers in spades. I literally sold my vintage Model-D because the Mini V3's features made me feel the vintage instrument is more of a collectors piece & not forward thinking. I see myself using the Mini V3 for a long time to come.
Awesome
There are a lot of hardware synths I'll probably never be able to own, but thankfully Arturia makes incredible software versions of some of the big boys. I've never been disappointed by an Arturia plug-in and this one's no exception.
I also highly recommend their Pre-1973 (modeled after the 1073). I use it in every mix I do.
I love Arturia'a products, and I love buying from Sweetwater. My sales rep, Ed is always super helpful, and who doesn't love free shipping + candy?
Phat Houz Productions
Works perfectly I'm impressed thank u.
Love the Integration!
I was on the road with a few different keyboard players who had Mini Moogs back in the day and wish that I had bought one back then.
I'm a drummer/producer and love those sounds and arpeggiations that represent that time period in pop music and always wanted to be able to create with them but just didn't have the extra bucks for a physical unit. I was looking very hard at the UA version but then found out it was only available for use inside LUNA and opted for the Arturia version. So glad to have finally gotten it and have all of the integration of midi and programming inside of Pro Tools!
Amazing job they've done in recreating this classic synth!!
Excellent Synth
This thing looks like it's not got much to it, don't let fool you, it's very deceptively powerful.
You can create some brilliant sounds (classic & modern) from it and the low end is rich, warm and has a fantastic low-end phase.
It's intuitive and can be as simple or as complex as you wish. It has some great interactive learning too, for newbies it's well worth looking at plus as a seasoned producer I also found it informative and helpful.
Would I recommend it? Yes, 100%.
Great products!
For the price and the quality, Arturia makes fantastic products! There's no shortage of amazing analog sounds you can craft with this software. Enjoy!

Mini V3
I'm blown away about this product It sounds and re acts just like the Moog Model D. It's just like having one without having one. the next best thing from the Original Model D. I'm very happy.
Monster!....
This thing is a real monster!...a wagon of delirious presets, and a sound that will blast your brain away!!!!.....
Good Product - Bad Support
Product as described and sounds good. poly mood a definite plus. My beef is with the company itself - the product loaded as a standalone and I needed it in my DAW. As a standalone it's worthless to me. Emailed company support numerous times 3 weeks ago and still no reply . Talked to Wayne my sales rep who told me to get in touch with Sweetwater's Tech. support and WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had me up and running in no time . Folks this kind of support is priceless and it's free at Sweetwater. Free I Say !!!!!
Awful UX design. Misrepresented Minimoog
Close but not close enough. For some reason the developers decided to not make a convincing representation of OSC 2 and 3. The pitch controls for these two oscillators are step-locked – meaning they are not free-form. There is no way around this. When I contacted support, their solution was to use the fine-tune control. The problem with this is two-fold: 1) It requires a combination of keys to be pressed in order to tweak and 2) fine tuning only works WITHIN the stepped-control. This is absolutely horrible. The beauty of a Minimoog is being able to tune OSC 2 and 3 how you want. Adding step-locks, and restricting the fine tuning (with absolutely no way to disable this) is a poor implementation choice and ruins the experience of easily dialing in/tweaking your patches. Moog didn"t restrict oscillator tuning for a reason – why did Arturia do this?! There are plenty of other options out there for Minimoog plugin clones – and none of them have this awful limitation.
