I two main Delay Pedals are this Deluxe Memory Man and a Boss DD-7. I use these two pedals primarily with a Fender Deluxe Reverb and a Fender Stratocaster. The Memory Man is a great sounding Delay Pedal. It has a warm, moderately deep sound with strong delays. It's a great pedal to use for an entire song or piece of music. This is due to its strong "character" and once its turned off, your "vibe" gets turned off as well. So the best way to use this pedal is to have it always on for an entire song or turn it on for an ending to your musical piece. It does have some unique character as it warms up or when it's constantly on; this is actually kinda nice as it adds color to your playing. I like using the VIBRATO setting with the Depth turned slightly below noon or above noon. I never use the Chorus option, not that its a bad sounding option to have but I just really like the Vibrato effect. The reason for the Boss DD-7 is to have a delay for the "Background" that does not over color my tone and using the Boss DD-7 allows me to have other pedals on. The Memory Man in my opinion isn't meant to be combined with other pedals, but is more a stand alone pedal due to its heavier tone coloring. I hope this was helpful. If you're considering other Analog Delays or Digital Delays, have fun doing so! It's all preference and comes down to what amps and guitar you're using that really determines your final choice.

Great sounding delays. I prefer the vibrato vs chorus delay settings but truthfully both are great. Sounds awesome with the right amount of overdrive when you want your solos to stand out. Would not hesitate to recommend. Try it!

I wanted the Edge's U2 sound - this is it. Ended up finding many other tones I enjoy, especially with the chorus. Excellent for country/slapback.

Only negative is the power supply is 24v - pulls a few more gates (recommend having Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus, as they make a power adapter for it that uses two gates out of their eight).

Positively - the pedal is smaller than I thought it would be.

Wow. Guitar pedals should sound good, but come on EHX, there's hardly a bad setting on this pedal. THE BEST pedal on my board. It's in the FX loop on my amp, and handles the high gain as well as the clean tones. Maybe the most fun I've had with a stomp box in 20 years.

This thing paired with my tele, tubes amidst some other choice boutique quality pedals, all together equate to a howling musicality — especially the feedback, dark delay with chorus waving, and when strumming the high strings make this thing really scream. As long as I keep it off the floor so I can twist the knobs more often, this things doesn"t get stagnant.

One thing I wished it was going to hold up to was my new analog synth, but it gets lost in the relatively narrow bandwidth of modulating frequencies plus without the drive of the tubes and edge of an instrument like a tele, the memory man doesn"t perform with the same celebrated spirit I had hoped for.

The deluxe Memory Man has become my all time favorite delay. It's sultry, rich, tones bring to life my clean sound. You wont be disappointed with this gem!

This delay is perfect. When I originally started playing (many moons ago), I had a DMM from the 80's that I got from a local shop. My original unit has taken a beating and was in need of replacement. In the past 3 years I've tried so many delays I can't even count them anymore. From boutique, to digital, small company, large company, etc. Nothing quite fit the bill. Don't get me wrong, they all had good sounds, but just not what I wanted. So I said "to hell with it" and purchased a new DMM and I honestly don't know why I bothered with the other delays in the first place. It is everything you could want; great tone, warmth, modulation.

Good job EHX and thanks to my sales rep TJ. I got my pedal in less than 24 hrs.

This pedal ended my delay search and it took me years to finally get my hands on one of these. There's a reason so many players still use it, and hold on to theirs too. When I first brought mine home and plugged it into my rig, it instantly became my favorite pedal I own. The modulation is where it's at. Only gripe would be the 24v, but with the right power supply its worth the hassle. Tap tempo is a useful and missed feature, but I'm an old school player, who uses my ears for reference. Definitely the best analog, if not the best sending delay pedal out there!

I have owned several Ibanez digital delay pedals, I could never get the warm sound I was looking for. I had one moded and it still sounded bad to me. I tried an MXR Carbon Copy and found it to be wanting. Along the way I have had several other delay pedals none of which did the trick. I guess I just didn't want to shell out the money for the Memory Man Deluxe, but I wish I would have a long time ago. It is hands down the best sounding delay pedal I have ever heard. Buy it and your delay pedal search will be over..

The best! My favorite pedal delay!

I originally bought this for my bass pedal board and although I use it mainly for that, I use it on organ, vocals, guitar, banjo, mandolin, everything.
I have played around with Line6 DL6 pedals, Boss delay pedals, etc.
And alot of them sound really good, but this pedal, is different.
I recently lent this pedal to a friend who had a Boss DD-20(so a really good digital delay pedal).
Within five minutes he preferred the sound of the memory man.
It's funny because every time I use it I get the sound I want, but when I use other pedals now(esp. digital), they sound fake compared to it.
The delay breaks naturally on its own, it's warm and lush, it handles low end incredibly well(bass guitar, organ).
I just find this to be an excellent delay pedal.
The modulation is really nice too, it only modulates the delay so you can make it sound more like a tape delay, or really strain the pitch to make it sound weird.
You also can create your own fantastic feedback (past 3 oclock) and it just sounds great. I wish they cost less, but they are incredible pedals.
