Vox MSB25 Mini Superbeetle 25-watt 1x10-inch Mini-stack Reviews
For a small amp with jaw-dropping British punch, look to the Vox MSB25 Mini Superbeetle. Fueled by a NuTube-equipped analog preamp circuit, this 25-watt mini stack exudes authentic Vox tones. It looks the part, too, with an iconic chrome stand and distinctive Vox styling. The Mini Superbeetle's matching open-back cabinet is loaded with a custom 10" Celestion speaker. You also get a speaker output that accommodates extension cabs of all shapes and sizes. Add the perfect amount of vintage-flavored polish to your sound with onboard digital reverb and NuTube-driven tremolo. Packs a punch
Visually appealing as well as a solid tone, very happy on all accounts.
Punches hundreds of dollars above its price
This is hands down the best sounding amp in this price range. The reverb is truly incredible. Anywhere from 9:00-2:00 on the dial sounds great and gives your playing just enough dimension. The tremolo has literally set the bar for tremolo tones that I look for in pedals or other amps. The overdrive is fantastic. From a dude who loves pedals, the reverb/trem/overdrive combo in this amp negates the need for any pedals unless you know what fx you want. In other words, this is the ultimate beginner amp for dipping your toes into the world of fx and especially amp-based fx.
The best part, though? This amp head from a $ purchase will be able to connect to almost any amp cab and give you fantastic Vox tones.
$ for this is an absolute steal. Tubes sound great, nutube sounds great, solid state sounds great. Every player who wants a vox tone should consider this amp.
Read MoreSounds great!
I bought this wanting to try out the Vox Tone...the Nutube and I'm pretty happy overall
Light weight!
Small Footprint
But if you really want to make this shine put a EQ pedal in front of it and it will sound like a 12in speaker...with a little eq'ing
Nice retro looking amp!
dynomite!
Vox Supermini Beetle
I bought this amp today and am more than impressed with it. It's exactly what I was looking for. It's perfect for my small practice room, but has a bigger sound than the size. I plugged in my Fender Strat and with the reverb, tremolo and gain I was able to get all of the tones I've been wanting without any pedals. If you're a beginner to intermediate player like myself or just looking for a great sounding practice amp, you can't beat it.
Brilliant!
I bought into the YouTube hype around this cute little Vox and let me tell you.. it's all true! This tiny little stack is a tone machine. It's also extremely loud. Way more bass on tap than I was expecting. This is a fun piece of gear I'm stoked to own it!
I bought it for it's looks!
I bought this thing because it looks cool, God knows I didnt need more amps!
I Love this little amp! play it everyday. It has got some serious Giddy Up! It takes pedals
well. I have'nt tried a 4x12 yet, but I did plug it in to a 2x12.... and it sounds amazing. Easily loud
enough to gig a small club. I would reccomend a bigger cabinet if your gonna play loud, The speaker starts
to break up once you hit about 12 O'clock on the volume. I use it as my kitchen amp. I love this little girl, thinkin' about getting another one,
If I can figure out how to hide it from my wife!!!
Awesome little amp. If you're on the edge....JUMP.
NOT A TOY!
This amp is not a toy. Great tone. Plenty of volume. Breaks up very well. Quite tube-like. I do bar gigs with this amp all the time. Drop a mic in front of it and no problem. Love it.
Fun Little Amp!
First off this amp is very cute. Having a tiny Vox in the studio is very cool. Sound-wise the tone is good with the stock cabinet, but really shines when using an aftermarket cabinet. I hooked up to a single 15" and it became a tone monster! Not really a gigging amp but definitely fun to record. The reverb and tremolo sound great as well. Good deal at this price point.
Much More Than I Expected
I have a music studio crammed full of guitars, amps, keyboards, drums and a ton of rock'n'roll memorabilia. I originally bought this amp more as a novelty being a huge Beatles fan, but was very surprised how good the amp sounds. It has something called a "Nutube" which they only go into minor description of saying it has a 'grid, filament, etc.' like a real tube, but it starts like a solid state amp. The sound is surprisingly similar (not the same) to my Vox AC15. Good reverb and again surprisingly great sounding 10" Celestion speaker.
Sounds great but times out ?
For some reason if I stop playing for a few minutes in between songs I go back over an amp has shut itself off I'm wondering maybe this thing has some kind of feature on it that times out if it's not being used sure would hate for that to happen live at a gig
Best lil’ thang
Just got this today and I can't be more impressed with the big sound from a mini stack. Absolutely phenomenal and beautiful sounding. The Vox tone you're looking for.
I own and gig with it.
This little amp sounds great.. I run my amp through the PA, so I wanted something with a small footprint on stage. This thing fits the bill..but for an acoustic or country band like mine, this thing will hold its own without being mic'd up, I don't mix it when we rehearse.
Great amp!
Always liked the look of the Vox amps. Has a great sound and all the features that I would want! Get one you will be happy.
Pairs great with a CAB
I loved this amp from the start. I have another modeling amp, but really wanted something with a tube sound that I could dial in manually. This amp really fits the bill. I can really get some great classic tones with this amp and it is so cool looking. I got a great deal on a Harley Benton 1 x 12 Vintage with a Celestion, and decided to pair it with this head. It was then that I realized what an amazing amp this really is. It has plenty of juice to drive the large cab and the clean is so damned punchy. Love this amp! You can't power both cabs though. The smaller one sounds just a little boxy at higher gain and volume. But if anyone is wondering if it will work with a large cab, that's an affirmative!
Nice little but loud amp
Had that Vox sound in a little amp. Have it hooked up to a cabinet with a 12" speaker, even better. Thanks to Derek for the good deal!
Quintessential Vox tones, but not as good of a pedal platform as its all tube brothers
The ultimate rec room amp
First, a disclaimer: I'm a purely recreational guitarist. I play for my own enjoyment, and no other reason. I'm never going to play a gig outside my home, so all I care about is an amp that makes the sounds I want for a price I like, and won't unduly annoy the neighbors. This amp delivers all of that in spades. It delivers a fantastic clean tone, and when you throw a little dirt on it, the Superbeetle delivers a great bluesy, classic-rock tone. This thing is, first and foremost, a vibe machine. We love it!
Nothing Short of Stellar!
I absolutely love this amp! It has that classic Vox chime and sounds fantastic. The Mini Superbeetle is loud and takes pedals like a champ! It looks great and it is very light, so it won't hurt your back moving it around. Overall, I would recommend this to any guitar player. Cheers!
Small Footprint, Big Sound
It took me a while before I actually got a chance to plug it in and test it, but at last I did. I purchased it because I got tired of practicing through headphones so I hooked up my Ric 360 6-string and was amazed at the range of sound that came from a 10" speaker. There is plenty of room for EQ adjustment and the reverb sounds good. Obviously, this does not perform as well as the old tube amps, but for solid state, it is great. (I am an old fart and, in the 60's, actually played through the original Super Beatle Amps). I believe that one could actually use it on stage at a medium venue. VOX has nothing to be embarrassed about with this mini! If you want to transport it routinely a cabinet cover is highly advised to avoid damage to the exposed speaker in the rear of the cabinet.
Vox mini superbeetle amp
Great amp for practice or small gigs and love the look of it
Love It!
Sounds like my Vox AC4! Looks great! No negatives. I love tube amps and have had several, but if you get tube sound with less weight and maintenance what could be better? Reverb and tremolo sound good. Great bang for your buck. Also sounds good through headphones. Thanks to rep Logan Miller for helping me make this decision.
Vox Mini Super Beatle
I don't care what your favorite brand is you won't find a better sounding or looking amp in this price category. Be warned it's loud but also sounds awesome at bedroom levels. I would never put this amp in the " practice " category cause you can easily gig with it and I will. Also takes pedals amazingly well.
Excellent follow up from my sales rep Brian ( as always )
love
just recorded an album on it.
love it a lot!
Great things come in small packages
Got this little thing after watching alot of reviews was looking for something to use at chruch I also play in a classic country and rock band this thing took everything I threw at it great tone and very loud for its size cant say enough about it
A little monster
Got this yesterday and took it to band practice today we play classic country and rock this little amp was amazing, dont let it size fool you it's got balls cant say enough about this little vox just what I was looking for thank you sweetwater
Awesome Amp!
I tested this thing out last year. Man, I was blown away by the chimey Vox sound it had. Finally bought one the other day! Definitely, worth looking into!
Cool amp
Small and low volume but great tone and playability.
Reverb and Tremolo are nice, speaker cab is great, I may use it with other power sources.
Perfect for home studio, bedroom or basement.
Real VOX Sound
Merry Christmas to me. This little thing really has a lot of VOX punch. I dare you to tell the difference between the NuTube and the Old Tubes. I started out clean with Beatles (Gretsch), then CCR (Les & Rick), then Tom Petty (Rick) and was Tearing up some Robin Trower (all Strat of course) at the end. Just kept turning the gain up a notch. Gonna see what it sounds like through my Marshall 4x12. Wow, I'm impressed.
Great Mini-stack
For a small amp, it has a great sound and easy to carry around. Perfect for practice and rehearsals. I haven’t used it yet for a gig, but I probably will for some gigs. It’s perfect for my studio.
Mini SuperBeetle
First Vox Amp
From clean to gritty , this amp sounds crisp the eco, and reverb controls along with gain let you experiment to get the sound your looking for. Amp full of power amazing at half volume. I'm very happy I choose this Vox amp.
Mini but Mighty
I've been searching for a smaller amplifier recently and after trying out many different set ups this one came out as the winner. This thing is a beast, it may look small but it puts out surprising amount of volume and is very full sounding. The controls are very simple and it is easy to dial in a nice sound very quickly. The tremolo and reverb are pretty basic, but they add a lot of atmosphere to your sound. This was a perfect fit for my set up.
Real Beatle sound
I bought this amp when it was first released. I never even heard what it sounded like. I wanted it just because it looked cool but it sounds fantastic. You can really get some awesome Beatle tones. This amp is a bargain. Love it
Amazing
I got this because I thought it looked cool. However, it is a very good amp that sounds as good as it looks. It accepts pedals well, has a nice built in reverb, and is very light. I'm an old guy, and light is now optimal. The gain is very tube sounding, and I am excited to try it out live. It offers great sound with plenty of bottom end which is surprising for it's size. More than pleased.
Sounds as good as it looks
I bought this as a "Demo" or "open box" and have zero issues. It's like new and I saved a few bucks! I'm a Fender guy so it was a little adjustment getting use to the Vox sound but after spending some time with it I found some really great tones adjusting volume vs gain. Sounds better with my Les Paul and and the reverb and tremolo are fantastic! I set it on a stylish little box to elevate a little. I'm not going to go on and on about the sound or whatever as everyone plays different but I'm more than satisfied and if your teetering on this purchase just buy it. It's so fun! My only, only complaint is that I'd like to have had a 12 inch speaker in it.
Keybordist' need to read this!
ALL About fun !
Although this little puppy could probably pull off a small to mid-size pub gig.....it"s really all about fun and the cool vibe!
The tones are "spot on" ...chimey Vox flavors a-la-days past....nice cleans and punchy, crunchy mids! Easy to use and has lots of " cool factor" I just dropped a medium gain drive pedal on the floor in front of it, set the the amp for a slight edge when doing a chunk chop....and away I went to "la la Fun-land " perfect
It's better than it is!
I know that title makes no sense, but this amp exceeded all expectations.
I thought it looked cool, but it also sounds amazing!
Unbelievable!
