Three internal channels allow you to dress your cables properly and fill your stands with shot or sand for increased stability. Serious monitor stands are not a luxury - they're a necessity. If you're thinking you need new monitors, your first step is to invest in pro monitor stands: the Ultimate Support MS-100.

Ultimate Support MS-100

By Jim S. from DOWNERS GROVE, IL

I had my monitors on my desktop. They took up too much room and sound kinda boxy in their mid-range. These stands have made a big difference in the sound of my monitors. And they gave me back the much needed room on my desk. I filled the MS-100's with sand and they are rock solid. A well crafted set of stands that look very handsome in the deep red color.
Sweetwater just has the right gear at the right price. And top it off with professional customer service, well it's a no brainer to me.

Great investment!

By Ted from Virginia Beach, VA
Music Background: Performing musician, hobby producer.

I was originally going to get some of the cheaper ~$100/pair stands, but after reading some reviews I decided to make a better investment in stands for my monitors. I'm glad I did. The bases are nice and wide, with no wobbling even on my tile floor. The assembly was easy and straight forward, and having a suitable hex bit for my cordless driver made things even easier versus the hex key that came with the hardware. I opted to sand fill the tubes, as that is what I had available, though shot would be more appropriate if you have access to it. The isolation pads seal the filler channel nicely so that you don't have to worry about the sand leaking out. I will say that it's probably a good idea to pre-route your cables through the pads during the assembly, as my IEC cables were difficult to fit through the pads once put together due to their size. Once all the cables are routed though, the installation is really clean. The finish on everything is nice, and the red accents are a classy touch.

My only gripe is that the entire assembly is a touch on the light side, but the ability to add weight makes up for this. I'd have preferred a tad more unladen weight, as my setup is a home studio that sometimes is occupied by an 8 year old and three energetic pitbulls, but this isn't a concern for every user.

Ultimate in Monitor Stands

By John P. from Texas
Music Background: Playing, mixing and recording for decades...

I really was more pleased with these Ultimate Monitor Stands than I expected to be. Now the speakers are completely isolated away from my production station, pointed directly at my ears. I haven't yet tried to fill them with shot or sand.

They"re great.

My HS8 are sitting well, I thought they were too big, but I"m having no problem with them at all.

Agreeing with Dan...

By Randy from Texas

I'm using these stands with Focal Alpha 65's. The Alpha's 12.2" Depth X 9.9" Width fit the stands pads almost perfectly. The stand's center chamber is divided in to 3 internal sections - 1 dedicated for your power cord, 1 for audio cable, and a larger section to add sand or lead shot for increased stability

The hidden power and audio cables, which exit out the bottom on the stands' base, make for a very clean installation.

At 20.7 lbs each, my speakers are about has heavy as I'd feel comfortable with on these stands. They're perfectly stable under normal circumstances but I'd be very leary if I had small children, a large clumsy dog, or a cat that likes to jump up on things running around my home or studio as it doesn't take a lot to get them wobbling!

The rubber "collars" that fit atop and on the bottom of the stand's central column are quite clever and perform excellently in isolating the speakers. However, and as mentioned in Dan's review, the 4 small plastic points on the bottom of the speaker pads and multiple small dimples machined into the stands' top are certainly a low point in an otherwise excellently engineered stand.

Disappointing as I expect it would have cost the same or less to simply machine a 3/8" circular groove into the stand's top and mold a corresponding circular extrusion to the isolation pad's bottom. This would not only be more secure but also allow precise adjustments in speaker angle (without having to remove the speaker). The current "dimple" arrangement only allows the speakers to be rotated in 5 degree increments - and doing so without first removing the speakers is asking for a broken speaker and/or foot!

So, while not perfect, these were still the best stands of this type I've found - and priced accordingly.

How much sand

By Dan from Naples, FL
Music Background: Assistant to Beethoven

I like these stands a lot. The best I've ever had. My rather heavy MSP7 studio monitors look right at home on them. I'm very glad I went with the red but also very glad that the red was much darker than it looks in the pictures. I'd say they're more like burgundy than red and the color blends in well with my nearby mahogany wood (it's that dark). This to me is a pro and not a con but others may be on the flip side. For me, I didn't want another all black object and trying to bring some variety to my studio. Very pleased with them aesthetically!

Sand:
How much sand to get really surprised me. I bought a 50lb bag of play sand but only used about 15 - 20lbs total at the most, and that's filling it to the rim (do try not to get sand in the holes the screws will go into though as it will make it hard to tighten down). Giving weight for the sand isn't the most accurate thing since the weight of your sand could vary, but being that a 50lb bag costs less than $4, it should still be helpful info. Using sand for my stands did make me think of one potential issue and that's the fact that I live in SouthWest Fl and really hope I'm not going to have a monitor stand / ant farm down the road, haha.

Pros:
Solid materials
No wobble
Wires out of site via internal cable holes
Look fantastic

Con:
Only one con, but in my eyes it's a big one. The monitor platform just sits on top of the stands without being attached in any way. They merely sit on top with four corner points that rest in very shallow holes (Not really even holes and more like indents that are 1/64th of an inch deep). I was blown away by these stands and when I saw that I couldn't believe it and was then blown away in the negative sense. Disaster almost happened when I gently lifted one of the legs to get my wire to the other side. My 27lb monitor wobbled and nearly fell on my back. Luckily my friend was there and steadied it. The rule now is to remove the monitor prior to even cleaning the stands. They seriously need to attach these. This con creates another due to the fact it cuts the amount you can tilt them. I won't go passed 1/2 an inch.

Overall, I'm very pleased with them and once they figure out how to attach the platforms to the stands I can't see them having any flaws at all.
