The Gibson Les Paul is unarguably a rock classic - especially the beloved axes that came from the 1958-1960 golden era. This Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard boasts all the same classic body lines, styling, and attitude as those famous axes. Yet, the Gibson Custom Shop gave the Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard its own modifications, all in the name of giving it the maximum in both playability and versatility.

The most noticeable addition to the Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard is its Floyd Rose tailpiece. In the past, adding a Floyd Rose to a Les Paul could seriously compromise the guitar's stability if not perfectly installed. That's why the Gibson Custom Shop installed the Floyd Rose personally, and added a locking nut. Not only can you add those crazy dive-bombs and subtle vibrato tones to your playing, but you can do so confidently - the R4 promises exceptional tuning stability, so your sound goes right back to pitch.

The "Axcess" in the Les Paul Axcess Standard comes from its slight structural alteration - you get even easier access to those upper frets, thanks to the way the neck heel and portions of the back and neck joint have been contoured. As you run your hand up the neck, you'll get that "heel-less" feel, right up to the 22nd fret. Playing lead? It's no problem with the Les Paul Axcess Standard.

This Les Paul Axcess Standard was designed to be played - and played, and played. The Gibson Custom Shop joined its smoothly carved neck joint with a "belly scarf," or a ribcage contour. This way, the guitar hugs much closer to your own body without digging in uncomfortably. What's more, they gave it a slightly thinner body, comprising weight-relieved mahogany with a carved maple top, so the instrument feels refreshingly light - whether you're standing, sitting, or playing all night long.

It just wouldn't be a Les Paul without those humbuckers, and the Les Paul Axcess Standard features Gibson Custom Shop-style premium tone, thanks to its 496R and 498T humbucking pickups. These pickups pump out everything from fat growl to warmer vocal tones. Plus, a push/pull switch on the treble Tone knob lets you coil split for even more tonal diversity.

The Gibson Les Paul Axcess Standard receives state-of-the-art treatment using Gibson's Plek machines. The system mechanically dresses each guitar under true playing conditions, identifying what the instrument needs to achieve flawless fretwork.
