Gibson Les Paul Tribute T Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Plek'd for precision playability
  • Classic mahogany/maple body is weight relieved for comfort
  • SlimTaper mahogany neck plays fast and smooth
  • Gibson 490 pickups are a modern take on a 1960s classic
Plek'd for precision playability

This Les Paul Tribute 2017 T feels fast and precise, thanks in large part to Plek processing. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you're likely to own. Each note rings loud and clear, and the fret edges feel smooth as silk.

Classic mahogany/maple body is weight relieved for comfort

You can't deny two fundamental guitar truths: early Les Pauls were glorious, but they were also heavy. That's the trade-off of strapping a solid slab of mahogany to your body. But Gibson has done something special with the Les Paul Tribute T's weight-relieved body. It 9-hole design retains the chime and resonance of slab Les Pauls at a big reduction in weight. This just means you can enjoy yourself onstage for longer, and drag yourself out of bed earlier, with the Gibson Les Paul Tribute T.

SlimTaper mahogany neck plays fast and smooth

The neck on this Tribute T Les Paul is a breath of fresh air. Its SlimTaper neck profile conforms naturally to the hand, for smooth leads up top and fast licks down low. If you're looking for the comfort of a '60s Gibson, Sweetwater recommends the Tribute T.

Gibson 490 pickups are a modern take on a 1960s classic

English guitarists of the 1960s were looking for a more aggressive sound to push their modern brand of blues, rock, and soul. Gibson responded with its 490 pickup set. These had more bite than Gibson's PAF ("Patent Applied For") pickups of the 1950s. The reissue 490T and 490R pay tribute to this turning point in rock history. Their voice is smooth and clearly vintage inspired, yet to our ears has more high-end cut and midrange chutzpah than vintage pickups. They're also wax potted to reduce microphonic feedback, which is a big win with high-gain amp pairings.

Gibson Les Paul Tribute T Electric Guitar Features:
  • A tribute to a beloved classic
  • 9-hole, weight-relieved body allows for longer sets
  • Mahogany SlimTaper neck plays like a '60s favorite
  • Rosewood fingerboard delivers classic Les Paul sustain
  • Gibson 490 pickups pay tribute to turning-point tones of the 1960s
  • Decked out with vintage-style Tektoid tuners and Gold Top Hat knobs
  • Aluminum Tune-o-matic bridge is lightweight and tonally matched to the guitar
  • Plek'd for precision playability
Celebrate one of the most beloved guitars on the planet with the Gibson Les Paul Tribute T!

It's a Les Paul!!

This is my second Les Paul Tribute 2017 T. I purchased the Goldtop first, and the Faded Honey Burst later because I loved the Goldie so much! Construction is beautiful, clean, and quality. It plays like an LP should, and the finish doesn't smother the wood so it has that woody tone, unlike many instruments with 1000 coats of lacquer (think Mick Ronson or Marc Bolan), and the weight, although relieved, is still substantial enough for it to be a sustain monster, even without artificial help like pedals and compressors. Despite the lack of binding on the neck, it still has a nice smooth feel, with no sharp fret ends. The Goldtop I received had a tiny bit of sharpness on the nut corner, easily smoothed with a bit of fine grit sandpaper, and now unnoticeable. If you love LP's, and want a hard-rocking tone monster, look no further!! And you'll look totally cool!! Oh, and one more thing.... when you test it, plug it straight into an amp with a little natural breakup like a Vox or Supro. These LP's a very responsive to the amount of attack you use. Try playing with your fingers too if you can manage.

Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2017 T - Faded Honey Burst

Without a doubt this is an outstanding guitar. This was my first purchase from Sweetwater and I am beyond satisfied with both the guitar and the customer service. The guitar looks and plays beautifully. The wood grain shows up nicely on both the maple and the mahogany. Customer service (Adam Cesarz) was excellent. I had a few questions about the guitar's set-up so I e-mailed my questions in and Sweetwater called me back and had me on the phone with a guitar tech in a short amount of time. Great guitar. Great price. Great service.

NO FRILLS GIBSON

First everyone needs to talk to Tyler Moore. Second if you are looking for a Gibson with all the characteristics and play-ability of a Std. This is the model for you. Finally, as std equipment on an affordable Gibson, 490 pups. Finish is my favorite part. Not too much sheen and shine especially on the neck where most guitars lacquer the heck out of them so they are "sticky". Also the slim neck and tuners make you feel you are playing an older LP at a price most can't afford. Buy this axe and you won't regret it.
