This staggering guitar pairs modern bells and whistles with a nostalgic look that's inspired by the first Les Paul that Matt owned. Best Metal Less Paul

By William from Minnesota on October 18, 2022 Music Background: Metal, trash, metalcore

If your a less Paul guy who plays metal this is your guitar. I'm sure the 6 string model is just as good. But this 7 is beyond amazing. The fretboard feels amazing. The slim d profile neck is fast and surprisingly thin. Not as thin as some Ibanez necks but personally if your playing Heafy riffs I feel you want a little beef. The custom Matt Heafy Fishman picksups are excellent. Exactly what this guitar needed. 3 voicing options between the bridge and neck. You can pair this with any amp and sound big. I preordered this after having played a couple Less Paul's before, never owned one but a huge trivium fan. Knowing Matt's love for perfection and Less Paul's I knew it would be great. Alex Burgland was my sales engineer and he answered every question I had about 7's and even helped me to transition smoothly. Hasn't hesitated to tell me his options on gear and help me to better understand the equipment! Couldn't recommend him enough!

Should Probably be 5 Stars….

By Sweetwater Customer on May 16, 2023

The Guitar is AMAZING!! One of the best I have ever played as far as overall guitars go. And for 7 String guitars IT IS the ABSOLUTE BEST I have ever played. Well made, Set up seems to be on point. And I dropped the Tuning from the standard it was shipped to me in. Just put my first set of heavier gauge strings on so hopefully it doesnt effect the set up too much? Minor adjustments at most. Only reason I docked a half of a star off of Full 5 Star is… The pickups, I personally dont like active sets at all. But thats not why I took away. The pickups were installed backwards(N in B and B in N) obviously from factory this way. Seems like this happens often with Epiphone and Gibson? Quality department should be tightened up on these sort of mistakes. However that and the fact that it has the 70s style strap buttons instead of actual locks. Locks would be better but not a major hit. Really stil is a 5 star quality guitar.

Best 7-string I've owned

By Alex C from Georgia, US on October 10, 2022

This guitar in terms of feel, is one of the best 7-strings I've tried. I've owned a Schecter Demon 7 that I returned a week later because the neck just wasn't right for me and the pickups left a lot to be desired, and played a few other guitars, such as Ibanez and PRS, at some of my local stores, but none had a neck that was as great as this one is. The tones that come out this guitar are just absolutely beefy and full. I have a set of Matt Beefy's 6-string pickups in my prophecy and I actually prefer the sound that comes from the 7-string set, that might have to do with scale length though. I had the guitar Plek'd before I received it and it plays amazingly because of it. I also tried getting a Switchcraft switch installed, purely for aesthetics, but I forgot there are two styles for the switch, a long shaft that has a skirted nut, which is the one I wanted, and a short shaft that uses a nut and washer like the stock one does, which is the one I received. The reason why I wanted to change it is because I like the look of the skirted nut over the nut and washer that you find on the stock Epiphone switch. I ended up having to buy the switch separately and replace the switch myself after the one that came with the guitar was already replaced. In the photos I uploaded, the switch with the cream tip is the short shaft switch that replaced the Epiphone one, the one with black tip is the one I wished had come with the guitar after I ordered the service to be performed. For this reason, I gave it 4 stars otherwise I would have given it the full 5.
