Latin Percussion Vibra Slap II Deluxe Reviews

Percussion Instrument with Wooden Sound Chamber/Ball and Metal Frame - Deluxe

With its deeper tone and longer sustain, the LP Vibra Slap II Deluxe is the most satisfying Vibra so far, and an indispensable part of any percussion toolbox. Originally conceived from the rattle of the Peruvian quijada (horse/donkey jawbone instrument), the Vibra Slap lives on in notoriety thanks to the intros of Ozzy's "Crazy Train" and Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion," as well as countless concert and percussion ensemble pieces. The LP Vibra Slap II Deluxe can be held in the hand and struck against the palm or upper thigh to punctuate parts with its distinctive teeth chatter, or just as easily mounted to a stand for drum set use. Different tones can be achieved by rotating the sound chamber inside the body. Make your bridge or intro a memorable one with the LP Vibra Slap II Deluxe from Sweetwater.

L P Vibra Slap deluxe

By Rich
Music Background: Drummer, percussionist

Just what I was looking for. It is louder than the other models and the sustain is longer as well.

Great Sustain on this thing!

By David M. from VACAVILLE, CA
Music Background: Weekend Warrior Drummer/Percussionist.

This is my first vibra slap and now I'm searching for places in songs to play it!
I mean, who doesn't love a Vibra Slap right! I borrowed the smaller model under this one for a gig before I bought this one and it didn't quite have the sustain and the description and the reviews said as much. So I opted to buy this one and it does have a notably longer sustain on it. Great Quality as expected from LP.

Latin Percussion Vibra Slap II Deluxe

By Stephen M. from Staten Island, NY
Music Background: Musical Hobbyist

A must-have in every rehearsal space. The reactions from my fellow bandmates when I demonstrate it make the purchase very worthwhile. Can't play Crazy Train, Sweet Emotion, Feelin' Alright, or Closer to the Heart without one.

Totally Slaps!

By Chris B. from Albuquerque, NM
Music Background: Shameless Hack

I added one of these to my collection of small weird hand percussion items. It's a good sound, and tunable to sustain for quite a long time by rotating the bell.

Smaller than I thought it was going to be

By Sweetwater Customer

This vibra slap was smaller than I thought it was going to be. Also, the sustain was shorter than I like it to be, so I went on line to find out how to adjust - meh.
Thank you Kyle for your excellent customer service as always

Vibra Slap II Deluxe

By Bruce K. from Northfield MA
Music Background: Musician for 55 years, guitar, bass, mandoln, percussion, vocals. Bachelor of Music in Music Education.

I'm working on my band's recording, and wanted a vibra slap sound here and there. I didn't have one, so ordered this one somewhat blind. Can't really compare it to any others.
When it arrived and I whacked it for the first time, it did not sound as deep as I was hoping it would; however, it recorded quite nicely and the thinner sound cuts through the mix nicely. I probably would have ended up boosting highs on it otherwise.
I might have preferred a larger curved metal section. I don't have overly large hands, but if I'm not careful how I grip it (as low as possible in the curve), I find I mute the vibration of the straight metal section.
Looking at the picture, I realize that the wood resonator section on mine is rotated 90 degrees from what is pictured. I changed its position and discovered that it changed the duration of the sound. Maybe all percussionists know this? That's what happens when a dumb guitarist thinks he can play percussion.
All in all, a nice sounding and well built instrument. I recommend it.
