Great guitar....
First off, I have a Gibson Custom Shop R9 for comparison.
My lovely wife gave me the L7 Goldtop for my B'day on Feb 17th. And it is awesome. Plays great, sounds great, looks great, has great accoutrements...just a wonderful instrument.

The L7V is one of the best guitars I've played, and it is an amazing value at $. The build quality and fit and finish is first rate. There are no blemishes or defects, and the workmanship is fantastic.
The guitar sounds amazing. I don't know how they are producing such a high quality instrument at this price point.
Perfect Guitar!
I'd been yearning for a single-cut goldtop with P-90's for a long time but just couldn't justify the heavy expense for a Gibson LP goldtop, which retails at close to three grand. Enter this incredible axe from Sire, which I couldn't find available anywhere until the great folks at Sweetwater had them in stock again. When I got the email notification, I jumped, rather pounced, on it and am so glad I did. I'll confidently put this goldtop up against any Gibson out there. The feel, tone, resonance, tuning stability, craftsmanship, and overall quality are all incredible. The P-90's that come stock are creamy and dreamy when it comes to P-90 tone. Jazzy cleans, cutting leads, it's all there. The pots and jack are excellent and don't need to be swapped. I did have a Switchcraft toggle installed but that's just a personal preference as the stock switch that came with this guitar is fine. This was as close to flawless out of the box as any guitar I've ever purchased, unlike my Gibson satin cherry ES-335 I purchased from another big box retailer ten years ago that sounded great but required all sorts of work to get it playing the way I wanted (including a pricy refret). Not the case with this Sire single-cut. And this one costs less than... Are you flippin' kidding me? This guitar really scratches my P-90 goldtop itch in an exceptional way, and I'm so thankful to Sire and Larry Carlton for making this kind of quality instrument accessible to folks like me with a wife and two small kids who just can't afford to drop two months worth of mortgage on an American-made guitar. And a big thank you to my SW sales rep, Richie Clemens, who's as cool and accommodating as anyone in the game. If you're on the fence about buying this guitar, you need to get off the fence and grab one before you can't find these anymore.
Sire p90
Just received the sire p90 gold top. Out of the box it was pretty bad. After new strings and a setup, guitar is great. Didn't find much about the neck profile before buying. Definitely on the slim side. Locking tuners work really good. Really good guitar for the money.
Fantastic guitar!
Believe the hype about Sire guitars because it's true, at least from my experience. My guitar arrived without a single issue, set up and ready to play out of the box. Locking tuners, bone nut, ebony fretboard, satin neck, all amazing for the price. This is one of, if not the best values currently out there for new guitars. Can't wait to get the L7 humbucker version as well.
Amazing single-cut P90 guitar!!
I've been hearing so many great things about these Sires, and when the P90 version came out, I became very interested. This is my first LP / single-cut style guitar and for the price, it's very hard to beat. The playability and setup is excellent, it was perfect out of the box. The only thing I needed to do was add a little lubrication to the nut. The Goldtop looks amazing too, and I like that they chose ebony for the fretboard instead of the lighter looking Indian Laurels, etc. The balance and weight is also really comfortable, especially since most of my other guitars are Strat style, Wolfgang, etc. Highly recommend if you can find one!
Impressive in every respect
I'd read about Sire guitars for several months but never had the opportunity to actually play one myself. The reviews were overwhelmingly positive which made ordering sight unseen slightly more comforting. First impression was that build quality, fit, finish, and attention to detail were excellent. Ergonomics were fantastic. Initially I thought the neck needed a bit of relief and the nut was cut too high. But after tuning to standard pitch and waiting a day, the action and intonation were perfect.
Plugged in, the P90s sound harmonically rich with no hint of harshness. I've gotten great cleans and awesome dirty tones. As far as bang for the buck, this is the best new electric guitar I've ever bought.

It's an excellent platform and a player's instrument the lead feature being the exquisite (custom shop level) Indonesian neck and fret board
The usual fall down point for Asian guitars regardless of origin is the proprietary pickups
Sire/Carlton has avoided this perennial problem with their gig ready P90's
Anyone who's taken a trip down P90 lane knows capturing vintage tones in any modern iteration is akin to trying to trap lightning in a bottle
Sire does as good a job as anyone in this and I see no need for swapping them out
Get out your blindfold and A/B this instrument with your $Gibson
If you buy the Gibson it will either be because you have deep pockets and childish love for a certain script on the headstock or your tripping
