Line 6 L6 Link Cable - 20 foot - Medium Reviews

I bought this cable so I can control the cab settings thru my HX edit software. It's very convenient to have the audio connection and controls via one cable...highly recommended when connecting this cab to a Helix.

Excellent quality and function as adverticed

The Line 6 L6 Link Cable - 20 foot - Medium cable that I bought definitely functioned precisely as it was designed to...Which basically was instead of 2 XLR cables for stereo connection, you only have the Line 6 L6 Link Cable performing the two in one functions...It works I love it...Thanks

Line6 L6 Link Cable is 20" long for connecting my Helix to my Powercab Plus enclosure ... works great but would like to see a little heavier gauge cable for the longer L6 since it is across the front to back of stage area, and susceptible to getting stepped on, rolled over, etc. (versus the shorter 6" cable that connects my 2 Powercabs behind me)

This cable is good and you can tell a little difference in the sound quality vs. xlr or 1/4" cables. I bought these hoping they'd be able to control my Powercab, but it doesn't; you still need a midi cable, so with that said, I'm using the same amount of cables, but with better sound quality.

Otherwise, there's not much else to say.

The cable functions perfectly and would have earned a 5 Star rating however it comes with one major shortcoming. The male connector which plugs into the DT amp was NOT designed with a release so it is very difficult to unplug and takes more force than necessary to remove. I don't know what type of long term affect it will have on the amp input socket. Line 6 dropped the design ball on this one.

FYI the cord is BLUE, not black. Not sure if that's Line 6 or Sweetwater oversight with the represented photo-not enough to make me send it back, but the first issue might. We'll see.

The Line 6 Helix connected to a PowerCab 212 plus through the propitiatory L6 Link cable, is a mind blowing mix of nut numbing nimble nuance. The controls are very easy to dial in through the HX edit (or on the floor unit directly) to have the Helix control the PowerCabs functions/features, including virtual speaker selections with snapshot variations.... just for starters.

The fact that the L6 cable is out-putting a digital signal from Helix to PowerCab also saves another analogue to digital translation (thats a good thing for your DSP stockpile), so its analogue/guitar - digital/helix - digital/PowerCab - face melting Telecaster, searing Strat quacking, Gibson gnarly joy..... as opposed to adding another two conversions for analogue Helix output and back to digital on instrument cables.

Previously I was using the 5 cable method, so stage set up was started around midday and normally completed just in time for the start of the second set, so long as we had a late start. The one L6 cable set-up means I now have time to get rip roaring drunk before the gig and sober up in time for the start of the second set; so not much difference from the audience perspective.

The sound of this Helix rig when connected via L6 cable is simply amazing and its an easy 5 star rating for simplicity, and function....

HOwEvEr! Its a Nasty, nasty Cheap, Cheep cable at an exorbitant price ($$$ for what it is). No problem if it was out of harms way, but the usual set-up has the Helix on the floor at the front of the stage, ready for a tap-tempo trampling and the PowerCab in behind to sonically share the love, and remind the drummer that we too have things that get wickedly loud when required. The L6 cable is therefore running directly between these two strategically positioned proponents of mayhem, and simply isn't tuff-enuff, should the bass players stilettos score a direct hit.

The general value proposition of Line 6 gear is I think very well balanced. Its not cheap, but its remarkably good value for money when you consider what you get for the coin. Its also generally road ready and gig proof construction quality. Then a third party takes a dump in an accessory bag and puts a 1000% mark-up on said turd.... hence the 2 star review.

From a marketing perspective, having spent USD$ on the Helix and USDof the 212 PowerCab+, I would have thought it should have been bundled in FOC.

I Certainly hope the PowerCab cover... (that's on back order) is riot proof and doubles as a sleeping bag for after the after hours lock-ins.... as I just don't have time to writ another review of anything lass than four stars; which is more along the lines of, "4 Stars, Its really very great, perhaps the greatest, you should have one. don't be a looser, be great". So in final review; Cheap nasty rubbish cable, that adds amazing simplicity and function to the awesome Helix/PowerCab rig - so must have. Hope this helps.
