Great quality guitar; unique finish and feel
I have a few traditional singlecut/doublecut guitars and wanted to mix up the body shape on the next instrument I purchased. My eye was immediately caught by the Jackson Kelly. It's a killer shape, but it still sits comfortably and feels familiar (as opposed to a V, for example). I'm a big fan of the high output pickups, too. The reviews I read/watched before buying the guitar talked about how hot they are - and it's not an understatement. They certainly are high output, but they are also still articulate and focused. I'm really enjoying the sounds I get out of them. The overall feel of the instrument is great, too. Fit/finish is high quality (mine doesn't have any flaws) and the open grain top looks awesome. I suspect it won't be as durable as a poly/lacquered instrument, but I wouldn't let that hold you back. Just take care of your gear and it'll take care of you.
Thank you, Jon Chordas, for helping me get my hands on another awesome guitar!
Unleashing Metal Mayhem
From the minute I unboxed this guitar, I spent the rest of the day lost in a world of guttural riffs. It plays like a dream, and the tone and sustain are both outstanding. I'm also very impressed by the quality and craftsmanship. Really happy Jeff Loomis decided to put out a guitar w/a fixed bridge. This is my 5th guitar from Sweetwater (Thanks Cliff Hackleman!!) and it very well turn out to be my favorite.
