Sweetwater Exclusive Compressor Pedal for Guitar and Bass

Keeley's compressor pedals have gathered worldwide acclaim, and the Keeley Compressor Plus pedal continues the trend by incorporating player-requested features. For instance, the Blend control allows you to bring in some of your dry signal along with the compressed signal for the best of both worlds — dynamic and fatter at the same time. A much-requested Tone control allows you to fine-tune the tone appropriately for any guitar. And the simplified Attack switch makes it faster to dial in a great sound. Whether you want to tame the peaks on a plucky Tele or simply want to fatten up your tone with any guitar, Sweetwater can highly recommend the Keeley Compressor Plus pedal.

Great little pedal

Exactly as advertised. Same features and tone as other Keely compressors, unique coloring.

Not At All Impressed

By Sweetwater Customer

I think people put a lot of stars on their rating because this pedal is EXPENSIVE. Truth is: This compressor wears no clothes.

This pedal is great!

By Anonymous from USA

My review is based on both the pedal and my sweetwater experience.

The pedal is 5 stars. It is my new standard for compression pedals. I've had BOSS and Wampler Compression pedals and this offering from Keeley is by far my favorite. Plus the limited colorway is visually striking.

Now onto the sweetwater side. I would say 3 stars for the customer experience. It arrived within the week and the packaging was satisfactory. Unfortunately, about 2 weeks later the pedal went on sale and I tried to use the PRICE PROTECTION feature, which allows customers to claim the lowest price within 60 days of purchase.

Unfortunately for me, my sales engineer had never heard of this feature, even though it is on every product page of the site.

Eventually this issue was resolved, but just be aware before you purchase.

musical compression

Now I understand what people mean by "musical compression." This is an outstanding pedal. I barely understand the concept of compression, but I hear a professional, album-worthy sound when I run my guitar through it.

BLEND is the BOMB!

By QuaLloyd from Midwest
Music Background: Started on Drums in the mid '70s. Picked up Bass in the late '70s. Played my Ludwig Smoked VistaLites up until the mid '80s when I went to Bass fulltime. Did the usual weddings/bars gigs, just for fun. I've never been in a band where someone relied on it

Keeley pedals are top notch. I saw the sale on his pedals and looked at what was available. After researching via TalkBass and Keeley Customer Service, I decided Compressor Plus was just what I needed to tame the lows on my Peavey T-40 Bass. I've been using a High Pass Filter along with a Bassist Compressor with decent results. I wanted a SINGLE pedal to do both! Keeley confirmed the HPF, after-all, it IS geared toward guitarists. The BLEND pot dials out the sub-sonic mud of my old faithful Bass. Bought her new in '78! The LEVEL brings my passive pickups into the new millennium! A few tweaks of the SUSTAIN and TONE and I've got MY SOUND!

If only the battery was easier to change. At least it has a low amperage draw.

Great

By Willie B. from Spring Texas

Works great! I use it on a telecaster in the always on setting, thru 2 blues jr. Amps in a stereo configuration using a wye patch cord into 3 stereo pedals. Using relatively clean overdrive the sustain is present and harmonic. Exactly what I want!

Noisy

By Jerry G. from CAROGA LAKE, NY
Music Background: Bachelor degree in Music

The sustain knob should really be called the noise knob. The higher you turn it up, the more background noise that you get. If you want sustain with no background noise, this is not for you. I've played with guitar players that have so many pedals that their background noise is ridiculous. For them this is a great unit.

From subtle to spanky

By Sweetwater Customer

I bought this mostly for live playing but also for the studio. For live, it's to be used subtly, but for the studio, it's for the "spanky" sound since I can do subtle with plugins.

Pluck Around and Find Out!

By William M. from Huron, OH
Music Background: Hobbyist/Enthusiast

Ok, I feel silly, but I had no idea what I was missing before I found compression! I thought it was just for chicken pickers and squashed funk chords. Not so! This Keeley makes EVERYTHING sing!

The ability to blend dry signal into the compressed tone adds a complete range of super-fine adjustability. Each individual control is sublimely sensitive… they really do what they say.

Turning down the sustain and dialing back the blend to a nearly dry signal while cranking the level control produces a beautiful transparent boost.

You can either tame or add quack to a strat, make P90's wonderfully warm, or with the voice switch, make humbuckers cut through anything.

Great pedal for ANY application! Shout out to my Sales Engineer, Jerrod DeMott, for the amazing comparison advice, a great deal, and the inside scoop on Don Carr's lunch schedule, lol.

Great pedal - Skip on the Blue Custom Paint

By Geo L. from Lebanon Oregon
Music Background: 50 plus years guitar, some harmonica and keys

Simply a good compressor is a must have type of pedal for about any pedalboard and this is a very good one. I wish I had gone with the standard black paint scheme though as I had to print stick on labels because the skinny white font on the light blue background is too hard for me to read. I knocked off a half star because the single coil/humbucker switch doesn't really have much impact on sound that I can tell.

This pedal is the secret weapon of the pros

By Justin B. from Macon, GA
Music Background: Ex-Pro, Once Signed, still-kicking Bass player with 20 years experience (all genres)

So, firstly, I'd like to shout out my Sales Engineer, Eric Rojas. I was looking at MXR compression pedals and he made this suggestion to me, instead. Super suggestion and I love this pedal. Kudos to Eric! That boi deserves a raise!

Now, to the pedal... this thing's a monster. It takes all the raw sounds and makes it all come out on the other side with a super polished, studio quality sound. I use this as my last pedal on the train to my amp head. The only reason I haven't given it a perfect score is there's a slight hum present when you have the pedal on, but aren't currently striking any notes. DO NOT LET THAT DISSUADE YOU FROM THIS PEDAL. I'm honestly being nitpicky. I love the polish this pedal lends to my sound. It truly is the difference between sounding like a hobbyist vs. a gigging pro. The controls are intuitive, and I love the toggle switch. Also, the Sweetwater blue is beautiful. I was happy to get their exclusive color to rep the brand! I love this pedal and I love Sweetwater!

Aces!!!

By Anthony T. from Bowling Green, KY

The other guitar player in my acoustic group had one of these compressors already, i was intrigued to get one of my own. One of the best musical equipment purchases I ever made! It makes my sound from my acoustic sound like it's right out of the studio. It balanced our sound, and now we don't fight each other for volume. Would highly recommend!

Works great with a passive p bass!

By James S. from NC

Ive been using this for almost 8 months now and have had time to play around. Ive found that with bass if you keep the toggle on the humbucker setting and adjust your blend to taste (mine is at about 10oclock) sustain anywhere from 10 to 1oclock (depending on how much squash you want), level to unity with your amp and tone around 9 to noon (or higher for more bite and sparkle) it will keep things nice and even on bass. Ive tried it with a active jazz bass (different settings) and a passive p bass and to my ears works for both but somehow sounds and works better(?) With the p bass. Maybe cause its getting rid of any low mud and tightened up the lowend for that pickup. Dont get me wrong about using an active bass with this either. It just take more fine tune adjustments which can be made easily. Overall for the price and quality im extremely happy! If you dont have the extra $$$ for the keeley bassist then i do suggest getting this!

My Always On Tone

By Thomas A. from ME

I love this compressor. I had never used a compressor before (in pedal format). Once I had this pedal it quickly became my "always on tone." It sounds great with single coils and humbuckers. The added sustain is wonderful. There is not a safer purchase than a 4-Knob Keeley.

Keeley Compressor Plus Pedal

By Craig C. from Chicago, IL

The Keeley really shines for clean sounds, clean or slightly dirty solos are more focused and feel better with hand feedback, meaning it feels good to play through it. However for more distorted screaming solos and heavy power chords, it's just too much noise for me. Of course you might not need compression for those sounds anyway. BTW using guitars with hum cancelling pick ups, strats, teles, pauls But, pedal or amp distortion either way too much noise. I'd like to hear the competition to compare.

This fixed so much of my crappy playing!

By TJ from Littleton, MA
Music Background: 51 years as semi-pro multi-instrumentalist

Compressors have been on my setup for over 30 years, but I've never cared for the degradation of direct tone and the noise that sometimes comes with them. Based on reviews of the Keeley SP, I went 'whole hog' for the Keeley Compressor Plus LTD 4 knob unit. So many pedals have crossed my boards in the past, thinking "this one will do for now", but this compressor has done sooo much for my guitar playing and tone. My heavy right hand, especially on rhythm parts, are now evened out without compromising my direct tone. Lead lines are nicely articulated by using the Blend knob - which mixes direct tone for snap, while Sustain and level knob provide more of a legato feel and boost. I leave it on all the time as it helps all my playing and is a great boost/buffer for the following part of the signal chain. The best aspects of this pedal are: the single/humbucker switch allowing selection for different p/u types (although not switchable with your foot), the Blend knob, Tone (allows for subtle tweaking of tone - obvi) and the sweet, Sweetwater graphics special paint scheme. I really love this pedal and how enormously it has helped my sound and playing. More sustain = more fluid lead lines and easier note transitions and fewer spikes in volume when hitting vigorous rhythm parts.

Fantastic Compressor!

By Thomas P. from CAMBRIDGE, VT

I have played a Boss CS-3 for the last couple of years after using some much cheaper compressor/sustain pedals. I generally play an HSS American Strat through a Fender Hotrod Deluxe. While I liked the Boss, I disliked that turning up the sustain knob meant way too much noise unless I turned the level way down. This then caused lots of tone loss. When I plugged the Keely in (without changing any amp or guitar settings) and cranked the sustain to about 3 o'clock, I couldn't believe there was no fuzz whatsoever. I also couldn't believe how much tone I was actually losing with the Boss. I can't wait to play it more, and I really like the fact that it can switched from single coil to humbucker.

Acoustic Compressor

By Sweetwater Customer

I tried this as the only effect on an Epiphone Cet Atkinson CEC. It cleaned and brightened the tone dramatically. The harmonics were being masked, and this brought them out and balanced the string responses. Only complaint is that it is a little noisy, even at low compression settings.

Elite Tone

By Dan C. from IA

This lifted the quality of my guitar tone. I don't know exactly what it does, but gosh darn this pedal adds the little something my sound needed. Never imagined a compressor would get me there.

This compressor does something a little different than other compressors and I'm not exactly sure what that is (I suspect it has to do with the Tone knob).

Exactly what I’ve been missing

By Tim from Spickard

It's as good as everyone says it is I promise. I was looking for a great always on compressor that would help enhance the sound I've been searching for and man does this thing deliver! I never used any type of effects pedal before but I added the compressor to my pedal board that I finally put together. I never knew what I'd been missing. Use for worship service and practice. As listed in the title, it's always on. I dialed mine in to what I like, but you can have some fun exploring the range of what this little guy can do. Won't take up much space on the board and I hope this one never comes off it. Didn't hurt that I think of Manchester City every time I look at it.

Doesn't Live Up To The Hype

By Mark from Springfield, IL

The hype says Keeley builds awesome products. This pedal does an awesome job of introducing noise into my signal. The noise is still present any time the pedal is plugged in, doesn't have to be engaged. Fail.
I wouldn't recommend this to a friend or to anyone else.

Very satisfied

By Sweetwater Customer

This seems to work a bit different from other compressors I've used, but the results have been fantastic. Unless I'm misreading something, the compression isn't directly adjustable - instead, you adjust the blend of your dry signal with the compressed signal. Took a little playing with it to find what I was looking for, but as soon as it was dialed in I was thrilled. Big fat sound, crazy amount of sustain available. Once I got a handle of what the dials were altering, finding the desired tones has been quick and easy.

Only warning I'll give is that the pedal I received is very picky about the power it gets. I first ran it through a cheap adapter daisy chain and it picked up some crazy warbles, which it naturally amplified. Switching to a clean, isolated power supply got rid of all the unwanted noise immediately. Just something to keep in mind if your unit picks up unwanted noise - check the power source first.

Otherwise great unit, love it as a set-and-forget pedal.

Keeley Compressor Plus LTD 4-Knob Compressor

By Tim F. from Oregon
Music Background: 50 years rock/pop/jazz/country on guitar/keys.

Our band covers 50's-present rock/pop/variety music, so I need a lot of different sounds on tap. I was looking for something to spice up clean solos. I have an old Dyna Comp and a Boss compressor, but was lacking the ability to blend back the clean signal. The Plus LTD 4-Knob gave me this, plus the toggle for single/humbuker pickups. I use an American Standard Strat and a '79 Les Paul Standard thru a Koch The Greg amp(SPX90 & Lexicon processors in parallel FX loop) for a variety of sounds, and this compressor works fantastically in sparkling up my sound! I can cut through the mix with a sweet sizzle on R&B, and crazy chicken pick on country! There is a lot of sonic flexibility in this pedal with the blend, tone, sustain, and level controls. I'm loving it and looking forward to using it this year through a busy winery season!! I highly recommend this pedal!! Also, thanks so much to Tom Maxwell for being super helpful, as usual!! And thankyou Sweetwater for your stellar service!!

Stellar compressor

By Johnny P. from Los Angeles, CA
Music Background: Rock

This is a stunning compressor. It's very musical and the blend function is really key to dialing in what's needed for different situations. Love the pickup bias switch. The effect seems transparent while you're using it, but when you turn it off, it's really noticeable how much it improves the signal. It's also very quiet for a compressor. Last? Love the special Sweetwater exclusive color. Great stuff.

I'd pay twice as much as they're asking.

By Rob K. from Largo, FL

For years I used a Barber Electronics TonePress compressor in my acoustic guitar rig. Mine finally died about a year ago. Apparently they've gone out of business or whatever because I can't find one anywhere (not interested in used). I went through a few other popular compressors, but in each case I just couldn't get them dialed in. Either they were too much or not enough. Even with a blend knob on some of them I could still hear the "whump" of the attack or they changed my tone. No good. This Keeley compressor is magic. I run the volume and comp at 1 o'clock, tone straight up, and the blend knob at about 10-11 o'clock. There's literally NO difference in sound or tone switching it on and off but when it's engaged… sustain for DAYS on my piezo-based acoustic guitar. Really REALLY happy with this unit. Will probably buy a few more to have as spares. I'm a gigging musician and I don't have time for nonsense or screwing around when gear goes down. I didn't know how much I'd miss my TonePress until it was gone. It was more expensive and quite frankly? This Keeley actually sounds BETTER!

Outstanding Compressor

By DeVeaux G. from Ann Arbor, MI

Adding on to all the other positive reviews. The main value of this compressor is it's transparency. Meaning that when you play, it doesn't sound like you're playing through a compressor because it doesn't color your tone or otherwise bring attention to itself.
I use it with minimal compression to even out certain clean rhythm patterns when playing electric guitar. Also to provide some sustain to leads, either clean or overdrive. It gives that extra clarity to improve the performance and cut through the mix without being loud.
Great blend of providing enough versatility to adapt to your personal preferences, yet still being easy to use.
If you're looking for your first compressor or have tried some that haven't been what you need, I highly recommend this one.

Great Small Comp Pedal

By Scott Y. from Avon Lake, OH

This compressor sounds great. The blend control and the bright switch are the main reasons I chose this compressor. I also appreciated that in the manual there is outlines of 3 different setups on the pedal that would give you a specific type of compressed sound. Having never used a compressor pedal, that little bit of guidance is really helpful and gave me a starting point to dial in the sound I wanted.

Great quality pedal

By Lance L. from Britt, Iowa
Music Background: Drummer to Bass hobbyists

I had a cheap compressor pedal and wanted to upgrade. I am a bass hobbies and did not want to throw a bunch of money into a better compressor/sustain pedal. It's built really good and has great adjustable tone and sustain. Compression and sustain can be fine tuned. Reason I did not give 5 stars is that there is no option for a 9volt so you have to purchase a power adapter.

Great Pedal Compressor

By Bill H. from Charlotte, NC
Music Background: Guitar and bass player 50+ years, producer and artist

I've had this pedal about a month now and I'm enjoying it. I needed it for my 64 Fender Princeton Reverb amp which is very dynamic while recording direct to DAW through a load box. I was occasionally getting clipping when I was really digging in and this helps tame the signal without drastically changing the tone of the guitar.

The pedal is quiet and switches on silently. It has a nice looking metal body and the knobs are smooth and easy to see. I'm using it with single coils and it offers a setting for both those and humbuckers. I actually use it in the humbucker position and to me it sounds less thin, so I'd suggest you try both with your rig.

It's a cool looking pedal and I like it.

Why not Both ?

By Sean from South Texas
Music Background: Worship, as well as rock, pop rock, blues, and country.

Several months back I got a Keeley Compressor Plus for my main board. I was concerned how it would sound with my humbucker guitars. I was not disappointed, it sounds articulate, and still full. Not only when clean, but under moderate gain. My Tele and Strat, both traditional single coil setups sound amazing as well. I liked it so much that I bought this second one for playing at home. I use it as an always on, along with a little reverb.

Keeley Compressor Plus

By Mike from New York
Music Background: Guitarist, vocalist, composer (over 30 years experience)

Been using the Compressor Plus for a while - I was working on a project where I was trying to dial in a certain lofi sound, reading up on a few different lofi specific pedals (all pretty expensive and most limited in their versatility) in noticed they usually had compression and tone controls as major elements in shaping the sound, so I started checking out compressors (I have a Boss EQ that I like, but I did not like the compressor I had: dialing it in to get the sound I was after, it caused too much hiss), and came across a video of Robert Keeley explaining compression - both sustainers and limiters. So I grabbed an Compressor Plus: problem solved, it was perfect, but not only for that project: I started using it on a lot of other recordings. The Blend control allows you to get setting where get both strong attack and increased sustain. I like the Compressor Plus, so much that I got the Sweetwater Exclusive version for my son, who was setting-up his first pedal board. While it is the same as the regular Plus, it's color visual design is quite striking - not just regular black (which I do like), by son definitely loves his Compressor plus, both sound and looks. What to mention my Sales Engineer, Chris Barry, who always does an amazing job: knows his gear, knows my gear, always steers me in a cool direction, and is always very friendly.

Squeeze the tone

By Billy R. from Spring Creek Nv.
Music Background: Performing Singer, songwriter of 60 years

I love this compressor. It's very transparent. It can give you that country comp or it works with my acoustic electric . For blues works nicely to give you that extra wail . And the tone control really is nice and helps in the mix . Plays nicely with other pedals and is really pretty low on the noise . For an on the floor peddle yup works well another great peddle from Kelley !

Solid pedal

By Sweetwater Customer

This is my 1st compressor so take that into account. I'm just gonna be honest, when I play in my band this thing stays on because I tend to get a little wild when everything is going, but I try to leave it off at home or turn the sustain way down, which is the compressed signal I think, so I don't become too dependent on it. I'm new to electric but have been playing acoustic for years so I'm learning a lot about touch and technique. I know there's a number of reasons to utilize a compressor, and while I actually prefer the tone with this pedal on I'm trying not to use it to compensate for my heavy pick attack. All of my personal playing dynamics aside this pedal sounds great and I'd recommend watching the video that the guys from JHS pedals did on compressors. This gave me a better understanding of what's actually going on.

Oh my

By William from Morrisdale PA
Music Background: Semi-pro

First off, I agree with every review on here!!

This thing is what I've been hearing on all these 70's albums, live or studio. This is THE sound!! Now, back then, it was the MXR dyna comp that was available. So everyone used it. You can get that dyna comp warmth with the tone knob. Very good sweep range on it. The blend knob is perfect for any and all mixing of your dirty and dry signal. Very easy to use. It's intuitive really.

I got this cool blue one on special last Christmas. Ive never used a keeley pedal on any sort till this one. But it has made me play differently, In a good way.

Bottom line, if your in the market, drop the hammer and get one of these. It will change your idea of tone of you never used a compressor before!

Excellent compressor for my pedalboard

By MDP from OLYMPIA, WA

Having a Keeley compressor at the front of your pedalboard signal path insures that you are getting good, strong signal to all your pedals. In one way I think of it more as a required item, just like a good, quiet pedalboard power unit and a tuner. Keeley has stood the test of time and the compressor is simple to use and does a perfect job. I especially like the simple toggle switch to go between single coil and dual coil pickups.

Perfect Compressor

By MrTone from Charlotte, North Carolina

Wanted a compressor with more adjustment than a dyna comp. The single coil, humbucker switch makes dialing in settings a breeze with any guitar. This one works great and sounds good too. Adds some color to my pedal board also.

Gave up on compressors and finally found THE ONE that did what I wanted.

By james f. from COLUMBIA, SC

Been playing for 40+ years and accumulated enough pedals to open a store. Tried em all but always thought compressors were for clean country. I play classic rock and all they did was kill the dynamics, cause a lot of noise and no use at all with high gain amps. I have had Keeleys before but the reviews and price pushed me into buying this one.
Right off I knew it was "controllable" and usable in a high gain setup. On Marshalls, EVH and Mesa Mini Rec some in stereo it works great. Simply start with all knobs at noon and adjusting sustain and level I had it going right into a awesome sustain and a sweet feedback. A little to hot back em off. The blend is what makes it possible.Back it off to "tame" it or add some and use your guitar's volume to work it.
At the low price I can easily suggest trying it for making your notes pop out, nice sustain to unlimited and with chorus/flange/phaser etc makes them stand out.Others may be better, more options for those using a compressor for other uses but in my case its been the only one I could easily dial in using high gain amps.

High Quality Comp!!

By Justin H.
Music Background: Lifelong musician- Current Hard rock Lead Guitarist/Songwriter

This is a fantastic compressor! As others state, it has the flexibility to tweak your sound just as you like. The blend ability is badass, you can fine tune how much you want to keep that raw guitar sound and mix in the compressed tone to your exact liking. Once I turned it on for the 1st time, I was convinced! I haven't wanted to turn it off since, it just doesn't sound the same! Definitely worth the purchase if you want to perfect your tone and have a quality/professional sound!

An Exceptional Compressor, money well spent.

By Duane A. from CA
Music Background: hobbyist

I bought the Keeley Compressor Plus LTD 4-Knob Compressor Pedal with the Sweetwater paint scheme for my slide guitar setup.
I have read about and seen photos of pro slide players and guitarist using the Keeley Compressor over the years.
Kelley reputation for bullet proof products is another inducement for my buying this product.
Adding this to my setup has enhanced the sustain of my instruments. It s quiet, clear and easy to adjust.
I am very happy with my purchase. If it were lost/stolen I would replace it without hesitating.
Sweetwater once again was a great place to do business. Over the years I have been a regular customer, because customer service is the name of their game

The missing piece of the puzzle.

By Thomas H. from Bethlehem Pa.
Music Background: Played in bands from the late 60s to 2020. Have my own small recording studio. I also make electric guitars from scratch. I just love to play guitar!

Thank you Sweetwater and staff! And Keeley!for your had work in these times. If you like sustain and still like punch or if you just want compression STOP!. Look no further. Also has bass and treble adjustment to adjust sound and still keep the tonal character of you guitar, amp and speaker. This is the one and at a great price. (This is not a overdrive or distortion pedal). Use it in front of those pedals with a slight level gain and set it to your desire and (leave it on). It will give you what amps had in the old school days. Sustain even at low volumes. I played through Ampeg,Marshall,Sunn,Blackface baseman,Vox,60s through mid 70s amps. The clean sound on all of these had sustain. Not a expert but I played through some of the best amps out there. This pedal is the missing Magic in today's Amps and digital processors. For jazz, blues, country, fusion, classic rock, funk you name it. Do your self the favor. Well worth every penny. If I may suggest 2 other pedals to put next in the chain after this compressor. The MXR Timmy and the Keely D and M drive. And if you want to complete the drive section put a EHX Big Muff after that. Add your chorus, delay and reverb and don't look back. You have everything you will ever need ... If any questions contact a Sweetwater sales person. And no I do not work for Sweetwater. My heart goes out to all during this time. Tom

WOW!!!

By Kevin L. from Chicago, IL
Music Background: Guitars - 20yrs, Studio / Live Engineer / Producer

I am using this compressor along with a Fender Boost as a staging step before my effect processor (GT-1000). Setting everything to off and running just the boost > compressor, I was blown away at the sound. It boost the attack on the tone, while ringing out the harmonics, decaying smoothly. Very little tweaking was needed to get a rich and punchy sound. I will never go back to the digital compressors for tone-staging again. This is an indispensable tool.

Keeley is a master of Compression

By Marvin M. from GA
Music Background: Guitar (Electric and acoustic) Bass (electric and acoustic), Piano, organ, keyboard!an

I've used compressors in the past and most had one flaw or another. They either squished my tone or were noisy and I would end up pulling it from my board.

I bought the Keeley because I had heard of its quality and quietness. The reviews were spot on. I use mine with a Gibson SGJ and a Telecaster. The switch to select single coils or humbucker pickups is a great feature

Over all I am very pleased!

Best guitar Compression peal Ive used

By Mike T. from Colorado
Music Background: player

Definitely the best guitar comp pedal Ive put on my board. Ive gone through quite a few including some other nice boutique models. The blend and the tone controls are crucial to this pedal and the hum bucker / single coil switch the adjusts the release time is also a great addition. But the blend knob is the best of these features. Still get punchy attack on the front end while allowing the note to hang on, if you want sustain. I personally like to use it at the end of my gain staging so getting the initial attack t come through is really important. This comp allows that with the right settings without turning everything to mush. And I have to say that I am impressed with the overall quality of Keeley pedals. They have good customer support and actually care about what players think of their stuff.

Compressor ideal!

By RK
Music Background: Hobby musician

Everything a compressor should be and nothing it shouldn’t. I’d heard a lot of good stuff about this pedal beforehand and I’ve used it in a couple of recording sessions. It’s normally a pedal that people never know is on, but if it was gone, it def affects the sound of your playing and you would know. Saying that, you can actually sustain your chords, and notes especially, considerably. The real star on this compressor however, is the ‘blend’ knob. You can mix in compression to the degree you wish.

I love this pedal and, less importantly, got it in the exclusive bright, happy blue Sweetwater edition. Thanks to Sweetwater and Aaron, my associate, for a painless experience.

Great pedal and awesome value

By Sweetwater Customer

This works as advertised. Incredibly simple to dial in. It adds some spank to a clean tone, and tightens up a dirty one. I've been using it with an octave fuzz, which allows the natural harmonics shine through. Very impressed.

Great Tone - Definitely Worth a Try

By Sweetwater Customer from Seattle

This is a legit tone enhancer. After getting back into playing in and out over last five years, I’ve been refining my rig. The last piece to the puzzle was switching out my MXR Dyna comp for this Keeley Compressor Plus. Surprisingly it made a huge difference: crazy awesome tones playing clean, and a great foundation to build overdrive and everything else on. I’m a believer in the variability we all have going with our rigs, so you’ll just have to hear for yourself if it works in your situation. It was kind of a game changer for me that I didn’t expect.

I play in a cover band that’s rock, bluesy, grungy, the usual range. Rig: Fender custom shop strat, Fender mexi tele (w/ bone nut and Seymour Duncan’s (To make it playable...), Fender 68CDR (often maligned but get an ABY and just run it thru both channels - jaded people at sound check ask me what is that?), and pedals like Archer Ikon, OCD, MXR 78 Dist, Electric Mistress, Soul Vibe, MXR Univibe, etc.

Replaced my ancient Boss analog unit. Very transparent and the blend knob really helps keep the attack natural. I use compression as more of a limiter. Many digital pedals don't seem to work as well for that application. This one works great.

Just What The Doctor Ordered!

By Bobby P. from Cheyenne, WY
Music Background: Semi-Pro Performer/Engineer

This pedal is a legend amongst compressors, and for very good reason. The sound is incredible, and can be as transparent or effected as you want, depending on how you balance the Blend and Sustain knobs. The tone knob is a nice addition to add back some of the brightness you can inherently lose with compression, and the pickup switch is just the icing on the cake. I use both humbucking and single-coil guitars, and it's so nice to have a quick switch to flip when changing guitars.

I cannot recommend this pedal enough. From subtle evening to over-the-top country-pickin' sounds and everything in between, this thing is fan-freaking-tastic!

I first bought a two knob Keeley Compressor , oh, 15 years ago or so, and I guess that I finally got to the point where I wanted the ability to mix the compressed signal with the uncompressed signal. I would"ve bought it straight from Robert Keeley, but Sweetwater had an exclusive cool color that I liked. The compressor is great. I"ve been a big fan for years, so there was no question about what would take over for my old one.

Keely LTD 4-knob compressor pedal

By Rafael from FL

I'm happy with this pedal though I was having some doubts since some players had given me some negative feedback on another model Keeley compressor with respect to guitar tone. I didn't go by that, instead I decided to try this pedal and must say that with the 4 knobs of sustain, level, tone and blend I get the sound, squeeze and sustain I want.

Sweetwater comes through again!

By Clark W. from AL
Music Background: 41 yrs of bass!

Don't know why I'm just now getting around to this review. I got this pedal awhile back. It has by far done more for my sound outside of my GK amplification, than anything else I have bought. If you need a compressor for bass, look no further than this one. There are more expensive models by various manufacturers. But this thing gives a lot of bang for your buck. It brings more life to my sound regardless of which bass I'm playing, than I could have ever imagined. And the Sweetwater Limited Edition "skin" is just an added plus. And as always, great customer service from my Sweetwer rep Aric Brenner.

Does exactly what you want, and it's easy to use.

By Collin T. from Fort Collins, CO
Music Background: Amateur Engineer, Worship Guitarist

The blend knob is by far the best feature to add some of your dynamic dry signal back into the mix. I think the Sustain knob does a good job at lowering the threshold and increasing the compression ratio.

This pedal is so versatile for dynamics control, tapping riffs, even as a high sustain clean boost into your drive pedals. The sustain knob may darken your tone a bit, but it's nice that you have the tone knob to compensate.

Compressors are one of the most underrated, misunderstood pedals, but so helpful when you know what it does to your tone, and how it changes the "feel" between the player and the amp.
