Perfect.

By James Habermehl from KIEL, WI on March 14, 2024 Music Background: Bass enthusiast

This bass is exactly what I was looking for. Perfect and in playable condition right out of the box. I gave this 5 stars not so much for the bass itself but the customer service of Sweetwater. Super helpful and with me every step of the way. I really appreciate that, as well as the affordable prices. The hype of this jag is real and the upgrade potential is crazy. I highly suggest this bass if you're into modding or starting out. Anyway, my whole experience was amazing, and that's solely thanks to Sweetwater. No I'm not paid or sponsored or anything like that. Just a dude. Keep slapping y'all.

Pleasantly surprised

By Don on November 30, 2022

I bought this Jaguar on a whim as an instrument I could use for outdoor gigging without worrying about about using one of my more expensive basses. As a consequence my expectations were not that high for a $ bass. I was pleasantly surprised.

Squiers have reputations as having terrible fret ends, at least the lower cost instruments. I have a Squier strat that I had to spend an entire day working on to get them decent. I did read somewhere that Indonesian Squiers are worse than the Chinese and that held true as this bass is made in China. I'm actually impressed.

The single Humbucker wired series has a massive tone. I like the tone but there isn't quite the definition I like personally. I plan on replacing it with a Lace Man O'War and add a 3 way switch.

I replaced the bridge with a solid brass high mass bridge that I had which really helped with the sustain and added a little weight to the body so it balances a little better.

Although it's turned into a mod project, it was completely playable and actually enjoyable to play out of the box. I minor setup to my preference and I really enjoyed practicing with it. The neck is good and I was able to adjust to a very low action which is my preference.

Overall a very nice bass

outstanding value, a few tweaks

I bought the Jaguar because it was a great deal and I wanted to try out the style without spending a lot of money. It is a beautiful, well made instrument, especially for the price. I did make a few changes. I installed a Fender HiMass bridge. It made the balance perfect and was a drop in fit. The furnished strings were awful but I never use round wound anyway. A set of Fender 9050ML's took care of that problem nicely. Standard length strings are fine for this 32" scale bass. Short scale strings don't fit. 32" strings aren't required. I lastly added a pair of Strat knobs for looks. The sound is different from my P Bass, Mustang PJ and Jazz V. It is perfect for country, having a bit of growl and edge to it. The pickup also has a stronger than average output. I couldn't pass up the deal and am glad I bought this bass.

What a deal !

I bought this bass because i wanted to see what a single pickup was like. I have played bass for 30 plus years an have never liked an instrument as much as this one. I own 7 electric basses and 2 uprights and this is my go to everyday

Great bass

By Emory Atkins from Oak Point, TX on September 20, 2022 Music Background: Studio musician

I've been playing the bass since 1974. I've owned a lot of guitars and basses over the years. This is the best playing bass (out of the box) I've ever owned.

Student Bass

This bass feels like a Fender, sounds like a Fender, and has a professional looking finish that erases any doubt that this is "the real deal".

The instrument does the job and is ideal for an entry level bassist.

Cool Little Bass

Solid bass. This bass is definitely on the darker side, in a perfect world the E string would cut a little better, its not mushy but its definitely darker than a P bass. Fit and finish were really good.

Very good bass

By Keith Monroe from Ohio on August 4, 2021 Music Background: about 40 years playing bass

I received this bass a little over a week ago and like it more everytime I pick it up. This bass is is a joy to play. The fit and finish are really good. The body paint job is flawless. The neck pocket is slug as it should be. The neck is very comfortable. The fretwork is great with no fret-sprout or rough edges, and they are nicely polished. The bridge is a standard bend metal bridge. The open back tuners turn smooth and hold tuning with no issues. The pickup is very high output, with lots of low and low-mids. It has a darker tone, partly from the placement and the ceramic humbucking design. I like this tone a lot.
The playability is very good. The 32" inch scale makes long reaches a little easier than a standard 34" and the string tension is obviously tighter than a short scale 30".
The only negative that I can see anyone having is the light body and the large tuners make it a little neck heavy, nothing that a good strap can't remedy, and still way better balanced than any Thunderbird and most Gibson EB style basses.
I am very pleased with this bass. I really thought that I would be modding this bass with new pickups, electronics and possibly a highmass bridge and lightweight tuners, but at this point I think I'd keep it stock with one exception. I will probably shield the control and pickup cavities. I do that to all my basses since I have a lot of electronic interference where I practice.
Squier/Fender hit a homerun with this bass.
