Analogue Solutions Impulse Command 72 hour ownership review.

Hey SweetPeeps, I wanted to give some feedback on this crazy awesome synth. This was the first synth I ever bought and for me it's super perfect. Because it's new to me I can't address a lot of topics but I was able to sync it to a KORG Electribe 2 on day one and have it beat match, and I plugged a Moog Theremini into the CV control and it had a very cool effect. The result was a constantly evolving percussion that was like chocolate and peanut butter with the beat-box.

There is a lifetime of exploration and surprises in this box, which is super heavy duty with top quality knobs and feel. I am so glad I bought it. It might not give you the predictable, repeatable results of a 'traditional' synth but I can already tell it's going to be a 'gig maker' as I can tweak knobs on it all night long finding new sounds.

The two modulators and the built-in sequencing options give you infinite complexity and the mysterious interior routing and effects will take you where you never expected to go. It's got the magic, that's for sure.

I've only looked at a tiny bandwidth of what this thing can do but I can tell you that it's worth every penny, it's got lots of 'stuff' to play with, and the configuration is so special that you can get a lot of sounds out of it whereas you might need to get several components from other makers to have a similar range of options.

Get it. It's the real deal. There's so much there. You can do so many things with it. You'll never get bored with it and you'll probably never get another kit that can do what it does. Just get it.

If you don't want to make anything musical, this is a good toy for you. Yes, it makes cools sounds but there is nothing musical about it. There are much better synths out there to make experimental music, unique sounds and remain in a musical realm.

If you like out of this world sounds and to add an awesome percussive element to your mix, this is it. To experience the full joy of this unit, it must be run through stereo speakers (2 speakers) and you'll understand what all the fuss is about. Warning. Be prepared to get nothing done with this thing sitting in your studio. You start messing about and next thing you know, 2 hours has gone buy. I'm quite chuffed by this purchase and this thing is an awesome bit of kit.

In the description it says, "After you have a melodic sequence looping on the Impulse Command synthesizer"........ well I never could create a melodic sequence and did not find anything musical about this device. The documentation that was provided online only was extremely limited and vague. I found it to be an expensive noise box and don't recommend it to anyone unless you want to spend a lot of money on a device that prides itself on knob turns and big hopes for some semblance of musicality. I know Analogue Solutions is considered a company that makes unique instruments but this was a big letdown. I do not recommend it to anyone unless you have a chance to try before you buy in case you find it usable. Note, I'm not a noob and am an experienced musician so the end user was not the problem. I devoted an entire weekend working with it, patching, etc and never found anything good to say about it other than the color red is nice.
