Midsize Studio Monitor Stands with Isolation-enhancing design, Tilt Adjustment, and Height Adjustment (pair)

IsoAcoustics ISO-155 monitor stands will vastly improve your monitoring accuracy. Get tighter, more extended bass and more solid stereo imaging from your studio monitors, without investing in new monitors. How is this possible? Well, IsoAcoustics has designed the ISO-155 according to the PIF (Placement, Isolation, Focus) principles of acoustic design. The results are immediately noticeable and dramatic. Placed on ISO-155 speaker stands, decoupled from supporting surfaces, with minimized reflections from nearby surfaces, and properly focused; your existing monitors will amaze you with accuracy you didn't know they had. IsoAcoustics improved the ISO-155 over previous models with a sleek, lower-profile design and newly formulated isolators. Sweetwater's advice: Increasing your monitoring accuracy will yield better-sound recordings. Get better monitoring (without replacing your monitors) with IsoAcoustics ISO-155 monitor stands.

High Value

Don't mix without decoupling your speakers. At this price, investing in these are a no brainer. Added these to my RAB Audio ProRak SDM50 supporting my Barefoot 03. Set it and forget it. Improved clarity was more than subtle.

Your monitors will thank you

By Aaron G. from Albuquerque, NM

Don't cheap out on monitor stands. Especially if you have your monitors on the desk. These are great quality and work well.

I have the Kali Audio IN-8s on these. They're angled down because they're tall but they sit at the perfect angle because of these stands.

IsoAcoustics Stands are THE BEST

By Gary R. from Arizona
Music Background: Giggigng Professional

My Sweetwater Sales Engineer Ben Porter recommended the IsoAcoustics decoupling stands to me. I needed to get better isolation from my recording desk as well as elevate the height of my studio monitors. I have a very small amount of space in my home studio and these IsoAcoustics ISO-155 stands delivered excactly what I needed. I feel like my imaging and sound stage depth and width is cleaner. The height of my studio monitors is now higher where it needs to be on the best axis and my desk even looks cleaner!

I didn't beleive it until I tried it

By Sweetwater Customer from Milwaukee WI
Music Background: Rock / EDM

I needed a different set of monitor stands as the previous ones were taking too much room on my desk. I was looking for a pair that had a smaller footprint. I have a pair of 25 year old Dynaudio AM6 speakers that I am extremely happy with. I saw the IsoAcoustic stands and I was impressed with the small footprint. Reading the reviews a few owners stated how much better their speakers sounded with these stands. I was skeptical regarding that claim. When I set my desk with the new stands, I was shocked. My AM6's sounded better. I never thought they would sound better than what I was listening to the last quarter century, but I was astonished. Not only did I create more room on my desktop, I now have a "new" set of speakers.

Sweetwater shipping is always top notch, plus the candy bag is always a nice touch!

They understood the assignment….

By Brian from New Mexico
Music Background: Home based guitar/bass player

My primary use case was getting my desktop speakers (ELAC Debut B5) properly aimed at my listening position. I do sit very close to my Mac and getting my monitors at the right height and angle, while being secure, had been a challenge. The ISO-155 worked perfectly in that regard.

Sitting that close, I needed to raise them up, angle them in significantly, and tilted down, which worked perfectly. The mids and treble always sounded off with my previous efforts to get the monitors aimed properly with various home brew methods, but that problem is now solved.

The ISO-155s are well built, easy to assemble, provide a fair bit of flexibility in terms of height and tilt, and look like pro equipment.

As for vibration isolation…..that was not a motivating purchase factor, so I can't really offer anything concrete in terms of how they work vs. my previous solutions.

You need these

By Michael S. from NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV
Music Background: Guitarist, Mastering

These work incredibly well! I was surprised at how much they improved the overall sound of my monitors. I had foam between the monitor and the stands before, and while playing music, I felt vibration in the monitor stands. After placing the ISO 155s, ZERO vibration was transferred to the stands. It was like there was some smearing effect and it was lifted the ISO 155s. Game changer!

They really do work!

By Corey W. from MT USA
Music Background: Pro Luthier, Live vocals and guitar for over 25 years, Gear nerd.

Ive used a couple different kinds of isolation foam wedges and to be fair they do help quite a bit, especially Auralex Acoustic. The drawback is that foam is not completely stable and cannot completely isolate the speakers from the stand. These ones actually work. I have the ISO-155's for Avantone CLA-10A mains and the ISO 130's for the Mixcube secondaries. They really make a startling difference in helping achieve a flat EQ response during recording and mixing. For an added bonus they also look sharp and are built very well. Lots of options for height adjustment and setting them at an angle. They are solid once set and the rubber will not move or slide. I will continued to purchase IsoAcoustics products and will recommend them to anybody!

An improvment

By Corey W. from Miles City, MT

I had my monitors on some foam made by a different company for that purpose. The foam did make a difference but when I swapped it out for these and put them on good solid monitor stands it improved even more. Be sure that you only use these on a solid surface or stand. I had used a metal pole style stand and these Iso stands focused the bass and lower mids so much it made things start to rattle and rumble a little. I did notice a much tighter frequency focus, especially in the lows and low mids. The highs seemed to roll off just a tiny bit. For reference Im using Avantone Pro CLA-10A mains and Mix Cubes as seconds. You can also get much more volume (for me unnecessary) without mud or distortion than without these. I like that they come with an entire set of different length tubes and spacers so you can set them up low, high and angled which is handy since no 2 places are identical. Ill be buying more products from IsoAcoustics for sure.

WOW - Immediate difference

By BC from Winchester VA
Music Background: Multi-instrumentalist/engineer/mixer

The difference the IsoAcoustics made to my Presonus Eris 3.5's were immediately noticeable. After spending some time unhappy with them sitting on top of stacked foam paneling (to get them up to ear height at my desk), I pulled the trigger on these. They've popped up a few times on YouTube with good marks from Warren Huart and Manny Nieto, so I went into the purchase with some vetted confidence. Assembly was very easy, there's short and long rod options depending on your monitoring height needs. Once I clicked play on a track that I was mixing, I fell in love! Judging low end on the Eris 3.5's sitting on the foam was always horrible, so I always made those decisions in headphones. NOT ANYMORE! The muddiness down low immediately cleared up, as well as a more defined and focused stereo image and center.

TL;DR these IsoAcoustics simply work their magic and will be happily at home in your sans speaker stand mixing environment.

Works, somewhat.

By Mills from Florida

Currently have a setup that is in a house with a raised floor, which means boomy floor vibration. Basically the floor is a drum. I was hoping these would cut down on the vibrations, and they have, to an extend. I maybe was naive in thinking these would completely absorb speaker vibration traveling to the desk, floor, etc. They do reduce vibrations, but don't eliminate all vibrations.

While they're not super duper expensive, I do feel they're overpriced for what they are. Feel like ~20% less than they are would be more appropriate.

Amazingly great item!

By Robert A. from Stafford, VA

I virtually never write reviews of music equipment, but this I had to. I've been disappointed for ages with small monitor speakers (I am at best a semi-experienced recording hobbyist) and only ordered this set of stands because, in arranging my workspace and equipment, I needed to elevate my speakers without taking up much more of a footprint. Not only did they accomplish that -- the sound coming from my speakers is hugely better! I never would have thought that providing this additional space underneath the speakers would have clarified the sound so much. And now I'm finding that there's no longer the world of difference in sound between what I've mixed in headphones and what's come through the speakers (which was always amazingly worse). Just a fantastic item worth every cent of the purchase price.

You should only get these if you want to hear what your monitors actually sound like

By Dovit M. from Michigan
Music Background: Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, amateur producer/engineer, audiophile, mutant

I've read the debates about foam pads vs isoacoustics vs nothing at all. I've read the only thing these do is put the monitors at the proper listening height. It has been suggested that what you need for your sub-$500 monitors is a $500 set of full-size stands. Conversely, I've even heard that modern studio monitors don't need decoupling, just set them right on your desk because the bass driver in a 5" monitor isn't powerful enough to create resonance... So with all that in mind, I decided to give these isoacoustics a shot. I have a relatively untreated listening environment, I'm in the corner of an odd-shaped room, I have a homemade bass trap in the corner behind me. Peaks, nulls, resonances, and proximity effect are my world. Even with everything working against me, I still managed to get a pretty balanced response out of my setup, at least until I put my Tannoy Gold 5s on these isoacoustics. Next thing I know, I was reaching behind the monitors to set the bass cut back to flat (-4dB previously). To my surprise, there was no more of that woofy mudbox sound that forced that deep cut in the first place. Now all I'm hearing is a warm and clear bass sound. A couple slight adjustments to my subwoofer, and for the first time I'm hearing fundamental frequencies, not 2nd or 3rd harmonics. As an added bonus, the upper registers are "freed" up from the harmonic mud I was experiencing before with my worthless foam pads. I can hear the separation between instruments like never before, nothing stepping on anything else. (At least if the material was mixed correctly in the first place) Did it fix all of my listening environment problems? No. Did it get me way closer to getting the most out of my monitoring setup with a minimal investment? YES! If you have an amateur setup, a critical ear... and want to get lightyears closer to what your monitors are capable of, skip the foam, and get some isoacoustics instead.

ISO-155 Real or Imagined Sound Improvement?

By Joel J. from North Carolina
Music Background: Trumpet and keyboard player.

As with most other equipment I've purchased, I researched these studio monitor stands, including manufacturer faq sheets, retailer info and reviews. IsoAcoustics' website and retail sites proclaim that these stands will instantly give your studio monitors tighter and extended bass, greater clarity and improved stereo imaging. So, now my dilemma was, with the marketing tools firmly planted in my head, can I really expect to hear a clear and noticeable improvement or will I simply hear what the expert marketers told me to hear? After all, my JBL monitors already sound great and I already have them on other recommended foam isolation pads.
Before trying my monitors on the ISOs I listened to one of my recordings a couple of times with the set up I've been using. Next, I placed my JBLs on the ISO-155s and played the same recording at the same volume level. The difference was quite noticeable and very pleasing! Not necessarily dramatic, but clearly tighter, more focused and instruments jumped out at me from around the stereo spectrum that, though I had placed them there, now were more prominent. And yes, bass and drums were extended and tighter.
The marketing lives up to the hype and I would definitely recommend these studio monitor stands!

These stands are GREAT!

By Arsdale from Dallas
Music Background: Keys and MD: Zapp/ Shirley Murdock/ Producer, Engineer

I never knew how much sound was resonating in my desk until I got these. I have an amazing old pair of KRK V6 series II that are very heavy and well built. They are front ported and they can really deliver low end, for a 6.5 inch speaker. The IsoAcoustics cleared up that low end and made the bass much tighter. After living with them for a few months I decided to redo my room and sat them on top of the desk for about a week. I worked on a mix during that time and it was much lighter in the low end and nowhere near as tight. I put them back on the stands and I could instantly hear the difference.

The stands are great and they work!

SIMPLE QUICK SOLUTION

By Keston W. from Saint Paul, MN

No need to overthink on these bad boys. If you need isolation from you desk while also needing some height, these are the ones to go with. Quality materials out the box and they stand strong once they are set up even at their heights and most angled setting. Cleaned up the lows and mids on a pair of Mackies super well.

Sound Great

By Sweetwater Customer

While I cannot compare these to other desktop solutions, I can say that they work great. They absolutely decouple the monitors from my desk, and the sound difference is night and day. Design wise, they are ugly and a little wobbly. I hate the way they look on my desk, so I took off a point.

Sonic Perfection

By 4d4m22030

Came from using 11 year old Primeacoustic RX5-UF Recoil Stabilizers which have an upfire angle of 10 degrees, which I always thought were pretty good, until I tried these. I setup using the short tubes (front and back) and both long and short inserts (front) for maximum upfire angle (tilt), this places the tweeters of the Mackie MR524 that I am currently using right inline with my ears. Compared to the RX5-UF the height in front is about an inch higher and about two inches in the back - it doesn't seem like much, but the results are truly incredible - the soundstage really widened and became more detailed - pure joy!

For guys with limited desk space these are the way to go! I got these for my JBL 3 mk2 5 inch monitors! They are made with quality metal rods and they are very sturdy! They have rubber in the top of the top platform and it sticks to the monitor like a spider to a wall! They isolate the monitor and stops it from vibrating. Highly recommend !

First Skeptical, Now Sold

By Eric S. from Mission Viejo, CA
Music Background: Musician, Composer and Engineer

These stands aren't cheap and I was skeptical that they could really improve the muddy bass and smeared mids I've been hearing in my Dynaudio BM5A's that have been sitting on those well-known foam pads for years. My studio set-up is in a corner with a bass trap behind the monitor, and I have the Dynaudios set to -4db LF. Everything else is set flat. I found some old reviews of the BM5A's which suggested I should be much happier. Well, these stands made all the difference. When listening to Final Thing on My Mind by The Pineapple Thief, the opening toms and snare sounded tight and punchy. The acoustic guitar and vocal on Shed A Light by the same artist sounded clear and realistic with a warmth I hadn't heard before. Fourplay's Chant (a great test track) sounded fantastic. I'm now sold, big time.

Perfect Desktop Solution

By Aidan S. from Chicago, IL

I use these with my JBL LSR305 mkii's, and they work fantastic! They are well built, and they decouple the monitors from the desk much better than I thought they would. Their footprint is great for a desktop situation, as they are a little bit smaller than the footprint of the monitors themselves, but big enough to provide stability and isolation. Would highly recommend!

By Nathan B. from Oklahoma

These truly do make quite a difference. They put your monitors at ear level and do what they're supposed to do which is isolate them from your desk. I immediately got to work cleaning up some older tracks and noticed a lot of subtle things I had missed before using the IsoAcoustics stands. I was hesitant to pull the trigger on these but I'm glad I did.

Impressed

By David

These do exactly what you want them to do. I can't compare other such devices since these are my first experience with isolation stands, but I can't imagine anything doing much better than this. My Yamaha HS7's were already sounding great and were on a separate shelf from my desk. But, I couldn't believe the before/after difference. Definitely an audible improvement that I do not regret! Size wise, these fit perfect with the aforementioned HS7's. Half star off only because they do seem pricey for something essentially made of plastic and rubber. I'm guessing research and development wasn't cheap but I'm also guessing they've sold a ton of these. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not an expert in that field; so I felt it only fair to include the reasoning behind the 1/2 star deduction. Again, I don't regret the purchase even at the price; they do exactly what they're suppose to do! (One last thought regarding price: If you're willing to invest hundreds for monitors you should consider investing a little more for the separation and get the best performance that you can).

Great for a desk

By Matt

Ideally, my studio monitors would be on floor stands and not on a desk, but my recording setup is in the corner of a bedroom and space is very limited for me. These stands with the longer legs are the perfect height for putting my near field monitors at ear level when sitting on my desk. The sound isolation from not sitting directly on the desk was very noticeable. These are a great solution for small studio setups on a budget.

Assembly was easy and build quality is great.

The do exactly as they say; isolate your monitors from whatever they are sitting on. When using these, my monitors sounded better and with much less colorization than when they were sitting directly on my work desk. Actually, the difference quite surprised me. They are certainly more than just a 'stand'.

By Stacey G. from ME

While these seem expensive for some rubber stands, they do a very good job at decoupling the speakers from my music production desk, and also allow me to partially angle them for best listening and mixing usage. I would certainly recommend that everyone use some type of acoustic stand for their speakers, and this particular unit is just as good as any on the market.

Maximize your Monitors!

By Mark L. from Chicago
Music Background: Recording, mixing, guitar, bass, synthesizer

Monitoring is very important when mixing, and it is essential to decouple your nearfields from your desk. My auxiliary monitors had been sitting on some basic foam decouples and the results were ok. But being only 2" tall I was getting early reflection smearing off the top of the desk, and I also knew bass was transferring to the desk and resonating it. I decided to step up my game and get these ISO-155s.

My initial impression after unboxing the product was that it was much heavier and sturdier than I anticipated. The arms are hollow metal tubes, but very thick and well covered in powder coating paint. The base and top pieces are injection molded plastic materiel, but feel stronger then I expected. The holes where the tubes go seem to have some sort of metal spring / rubber grommets that are the magic parts that accomplish the decoupling.

On setup, I initially inserted the 3" tubes. After listening, I did notice a slight improvement over the sound. A little clearer, and a little less bass coming from the desk (my auxiliary nearfields are not bass heavy, they are CLA-10s). They were still low to my ears, and too close to the desk, so I installed the 8.75" tubes this time. The sound was much better this time. No more early reflection smearing. Monitors now sit at my ear level for complete accuracy. Bass level bleeding into the desk is almost non-existent.

Overall, these are a great purchase. For the small price they will take your monitors to the next level. I am all about maximizing my monitors and my room acoustics, so make sure you do your best to eliminate those early reflections off the desk and the walls, and get rid of the desk bass resonances. Little steps like that make a big difference. These will help you achieve that extra 25% out of your monitors.

Worth it

By Sweetwater Customer

I'm in a tuned room and my speakers were already sitting on foam, but with these I noticed that the bass got tighter and the imaging was cleaner. I feel like my setup was already pretty good, so the difference was somewhat subtle, (maybe an extra 10%) but if you're mixing, those subtleties can make a big difference. I'd imagine if you're going from the speaker just sitting on a desk to these, you'll be very happy. They are a definite improvement. Make sure you go to their website and do the speaker stand calculator to get the right size. From now on, all my monitors are going on these.

High Quality Stands

By Sagesq1968 from Portland, Maine
Music Background: Home studio hobbyist

While the price certainly seems a bit higher than you would expect for some rubber, metal, and plastic stands, they are very well-made and they do the trick. I find that decoupling speakers from your desk or table vastly improve the sound quality. Further, these can be angled slightly and put at different heights in order to achieve a more focused listening experience. They are easy to put together, and seem to be extremely durable and solid. Overall, these are the best that I have seen on the market.

Speaker Stand.

By John from Aurora

These stands will do a nice job of isolating monitor speakers from a surface they are sitting on. They do not completely isolate them in my case. I still feel some vibration on the table they are on, but it is way less then without the stands. They raise the speakers to ear level which improves the sound.
