A Giant Collection of Sounds

Goliath ups the content of Colossus to a massive 39GB. The Colossus Virtual Instrument covered all of the basic musical genres, the way a keyboard workstation attempts to, except with much higher quality instruments and dynamics than any keyboard available today! Goliath simply bolsters that functionality, making it an indispensable tool that you will reach for time and time again when nothing else works. It will become your Swiss Army knife of composing, and it's General MIDI compatible!

A vast collection of exceptionally high-quality instruments

You can expect the usual QUANTUM LEAP exceptional quality in Goliath. Even if you own some of these instruments, you will love this collection. A good example is the Fender Rhodes. Despite the fact the Rhodes has been sampled many times, Goliath includes a unique vintage sounding Rhodes you won't find anywhere else. Goliath includes 7GB of new sounds, which when added to the 32GB that came standard with Colossus, equals a staggering 39GB of content.

Sounds re-programmed for included OPUS sample player

All of the instruments in Goliath are newly re-programmed with superior sound quality that makes the most of the included OPUS player interface. Programming is kept very simple, and programs that utilize the mod-wheel are labeled appropriately.

Goliath contains:

  • Drums/percussion: Country drum kits, electronic drum kits, ethnic percussion, funk drum kits, hip hop kits, jazz drum kits, rock drum kits, standard percussion, studio drum kits, taiko drums

Direct from disk playback handles huge sample files

Goliath and OPUS allow direct from disk playback, which easily handles large samples beyond available RAM (which is assignable). Professional sound quality is assured with advanced 32-bit processing. 256-voice polyphony allows for lush arrangements. The clean and intuitive interface never lets the technology get in the way of your creativity. All Goliath's important instrument parameters can be immediately adjusted without the need to page, scroll, or fumble through a manual. Many sound shaping tools have been built in to the interface. Powerful multi-mode filters, envelopes, and LFOs give a wealth of creative possibilities. Integrated high-quality reverb, chorus, and delay effects are also provided.

Awesome Library

I"ve gone back to some of my other projects because I have sounds that will enhance them in realistic ways. I really like that it doesn"t slow down my machine like some of the Kontact libraries that I have. Highly recommended.

Massive Collection of Sounds

I would have rated this 5 stars - but the install process was a very difficult (as it was for installing EW Ghost Writer and EW Dark Side,) which includes utilizing the iLok USB security dongle/licensing thing. All a head ache.

Aside from the above, this product is a great an vast collection of all things symphonic. I was surprised at the amount of misc. sounds and percussion available with this product as well. Very cool. I'm a guitarist, primarily, so having the option to include any number of acoustic instruments is just what I wanted.

Even more amazing to me was the capability to create your own combination of sounds (which, by the way, can be combined from all EW products) into something of your own. This was NOT expected and it makes Goliath that much more valuable to me!

Basic editing of sounds is available (Attack, release, pan, etc.) as well as a lot of reverb options. Combined with the option of mixing many instruments together is excellent and mind boggling to imagine how many unique iterations one can come up with.

I have no issues with latency on my computer - i7 proc, 8 gigs ram, Windows 10... I've heard/read that people CAN have issues, but aside from taking a few moments to load each sound, it runs smooth.

When I purchased this in 2013(?,) I had no idea what I was doing. A Sweetwater Sound tech assisted me to find a proper interface with my Midi Capable key board (just using my ancient 61 key Korg Triton.) So I bought a PreSonus Audio Box USB. Works very smooth. And I'm glad I discussed what I was attempting to do before buying Goliath. (BTW, I'm not a paid shill. I just like the product - enough to write this anyway.)

Cheers

Somewhat underwhelmed

While this is a decent collection of instruments and sounds, it's rather boring compared to some of the other VSTs I have. Depending on your application, this could be useful for you. I would use it for a standard orchestral piece, if that was my interest. It also has a collection of ethnic instruments, which for my purposes, spice it up a bit. Still, as far as VSTs go, for my purposes, it will not see a ton of use.

Worst product ever bought

Completely useless product. I've followed instructions and haven't gotten anywhere in the past 24 hours. Instructions and support is horrible. I'm so frustrated with this, I feel like I've wasted my money. Submitted a ticket and waiting to hear back from IT Support. I've never had so much trouble before. Probably the most frustrating software I've ever delt with....
