Great Rack Case!
These rack cases are really tough! They also come with more rack screws and washers than you'll need unless you're using every single hole. They're not totally waterproof (submerge-able) but they'll keep your gear dry and clean unless you do submerge them.
Excellent product
Came as described and feels sturdy for what it is.
Practical, durable, and excellent value for money!
Practical, durable, and easy to transport your rack units anywhere. You can easily install your devices, and it is made of sturdy, high-quality materials.
Excellent advice, perfect product for my need
I've been carrying my X18R in a the soft Gator bag they sell for it, but it was a pain to connect/disconnect the router and power every gig. I asked Zach Maurer to recommend a shallow, lightweight rack, and he offered the perfect option. I added a 1U slotted tray to the back rack and zip-tied a power strip and the router to it. The fan is a $ USB thing, and the mixer runs cooler in this setup than it ever did on its own. I could not be more satisfied.
Pretty good... some complaints
OK, First, the case is very reasonable and will do its job. However, when ours arrived, it was literally full of small plastic pieces that were probably leftover plastic from whatever cuts the holes in the rack during manufacture. Second, the gasket for one of the doors was not glued in like the other and we had to add our own adhesive. These are not big issues, but I found them annoying and a little bewildering.
Excellent rack case
I have now purchased two of these Gator cases and am very satisfied with both. I purchased the first one about six years ago for my bass amp rig and it has stood the test of time. It's been well travelled and is as solid as the day I bought it. I recently bought another to house a mixing board. The quality is much better than similarly priced cases I've used from other brands. No reservations at all!
Great rack case
Solid well-made lightweight but built like a tank worth the money

Nice, lite weight, and compact rack
As part of a downsizing effort of my live rig I purchased this to rack up my X32 rack, Mac Mini and WiFi router. The shallow dimensions are perfect for accessing the back of the X32 rack, inputs/ outputs.
Perfect for light packing shows
Awesome case
I use this rugged, yet lightweight case with a Soundcraft Ui24r digital mixing board, and I love it. During storage & transport, I keep the modem and other relevant gear (bluetooth receiver, adapters, etc) stashed in the back of the case (I glued-in a little Styrofoam as an added protective buffer); I keep the power cable & some usb cables plugged into the side of the mixing board, and it's so easy to just pull 'em out and plug 'em in. The staff at Gator helped me find the right case for my needs, and they work well with the pros at Sweetwater; it's a good match. Plus, they're made in Indiana, USA - the same place I was made. Highly recommend this case!
Gets the job done, few complaints.
Love These Gator Cases
This is my fourth Gator rack case and I'm always pleased with their quality and durability. They never disappoint.
Works really well for light travel
Works really well for light travel. Protects when transporting via vehicle, but I wouldn't use it for air travel. More affordable than some of the other options. Probably would protect against light/medium rain, but it's not completely sealed; don't throw it in the pool.
Side note: mine came with a bunch of tiny pieces of plastic scraps leftover from the manufacturing process floating around inside. It took some patience to remove them all. There's plenty of places for them to hide inside behind deep curved edges. Hard to describe until you have to deal with it. Be sure to remove them thoroughly otherwise these small scraps could end up inside your audio equipment via vents or get stuck in jack ports.
Solid Build
This is a solid rack. 'Nuff said.
Lightweight, Strong and Stackable
The title says it all. Rather than trying to lug around a heavy 6U plywood rack case with aluminum angle-iron edges and steel-ball corners, I opted for a couple of these — a 3U and a 4U. Each case houses two devices with a 1U perforated panel between each device to keep them from getting too warm. I no longer need assistance loading and unloading.
Kinda Weak Structure
So the case is lightweight, the rack holds well and there's plenty of room under the lids for cables, large knobs and my wireless receiver antennae.
But after gigging with it and setting some things on top of it in the van the top surface is starting to sag inward. I'm going to go with a wood or metal case in the future.
Solid
This is a really solid case at a good price.
Quality
I purchased this primarily to store an antiquated ADAT because I'm sentimental like that.
As lightness to your rack
Having carried around a heavy duty wood/steel 8u rack, making the switch to 2 4u Gator cases is freaking awesome. The case, empty, probably weighs less than the two covers on the old one.
I like the front & back mounting rails, the carry handles are comfortable, and the heavy duty spring-loaded cover latches are definitely appreciated.
Only downside is now I have start all over, loading it with stickers and miles. ;)
Needs Improvement
Decent injection molded case. Two issues with the case (IMHO). 1A- The latches automatically swing out of the way but remain in a position that allows it scuff up or damage the top of a guitar or bass cab. 1B - That same latch is spring loaded and difficult to close with one hand, if you're trying to hold the cover on. And 2 - The covers sort of fit, but they don't seal real well (daylight can be seen from the top and bottom), which makes this case wonky, even for the price. I won't buy any molded cases ever again, and certainly not this brand.
Built like a tank !!
Never worry again about transporting your expensive gear !!
Built tough and reliable !!
Everything fit perfectly
I was able to complete my gigging rig with the rack case. Now I'm a professional
Great rack case
Got this for my guitar amp rig. Good looking enough for the studio and solid enough for gigs. Highly recommend.
Práctical and resistant protection
This box is practical and resistant. Easy to store and transport. Its most important aspect is the great protection it offers for your audio equipment.
Gator is my brand of choice in protective cases and boxes
Gator G-PRO-4U-13 Pro Series Shallow Rack Case
Gator makes great products. I would recommend this if your looking for a case look no farther .
Nice rack!
Bought both the 3U and 4U. Sharp looking. Black hardware. Haven't drop tested it but looks like everything I racked will be very secure. They come with rack screws so no need to buy extra like I did. Solid buy.
Really Nice New Design
Having bumbled around with the older Gator rack cases, I'm delighted with this revised design. The case is lightweight and very sturdy feeling with latches that are springloaded to avoid the annoying flop and jiggle of the older latches. I also find the new sculpting pretty easy on the eyes.
G-protect 4u protect rack
Great track. Well built and should last a long time.
G-PRO-4U-13
Great case. Well made. Band member ordered the SKB version. Unimpressed. Latches weren't snug. Folding tabs on latches flop around.
Another review said the only complaint they had is that it's difficult to tell the front from the back. That's an easy fix.
(1) Place the case on it's feet with the handle on the right.
(2) Mount gear on these rack rails.
(3) Everytime you set up, place the case on it's feet with handle to the right.
Very well made!
A huge improvement over the older models, its a must have! only downside is that you can't tell the front from the back...
