After receiving my new and awesome SG guitar, I was quite floored it didn't come with a hardshell case. Some models do of course, but who would want to spend so much money on an instrument of this nature and not protect for life . I called Mr Bart immediately and got this Gator case. For just a few dollars compared to what I spent on my Gibson SG, now I can feel assured it's safe and well protected anywhere I go. This case is WELL worth the money ! Very nice and well built quality. So to all you beginners and shredders alike, I suggest to go ahead and get one when you order your Gibson model if it doesn't come with one. Like I said, just a few dollars compared to the guitar. And you'll be glad you did !

Strong outer shell. Thicker than most SG cases, so takes up more room in gigging transportation. Lighter weight than wood based cases. Bumpers on 3 sides. I like the molded bumpers on the back, so you can set it on a counter for opening, without scratching. Fairly roomy interior compartment. SG fits fairly snug, but not quite tight as I'd like. Latches are cheap, I don't expect them to last. Lock is a joke, you can open the latches with a screwdriver. All in all, a good case for the money, I'm glad I didn't spend more on a more expensive case.

My only negative is the shape of the case. I would prefer it to be more rounded, and not so boxy.

Still I'm happy with the case and I got it at a great price.

First I want to thank my sales guy. Great communication and service. I normally order online but I still get a phone call to be sure everything is good and to confirm that my order was received and is being shipped. This is the reason Ill keep buying from Sweetwater. Ive used Gator hard cases for all my guitars for the last 10 years or so. I like how tough they are and they wear very nicely. They're fairly lightweight since they are molded plastic instead of covered plywood. This also mean that the finish won't scrape off like it does on vinyl covered cases. The only weakness is the latches. They sometime pop loose. For a guy like me that pulls my own gear around to rehearsals and gigs, they work great. They are reasonably priced and have a nice plush interior. This SG case fits my Epiphone perfect.

Finally got around to buying a hard case for my Gibson SG after 30 years, LOL. It's a wonder it hasn't broken.

Positives:
- Light weight
- Fits my Gibson SG standard like a glove
- Seems to have adequate neck support

Cons:
- Clasps are not very high quality
- It's a little difficult to open the case. There isn't anything to get a hold of to separate the two halves easily.
- The storage compartment inside is pretty small. My 2.5" Levy's leather strap won't fit anywhere in the case.

I'm not too worried about longevity of the case as I will not be gigging with it. Will be used for transport to jams and storage only.
If I was going to be gigging with my SG, I would definitely choose another case.
However, for the money, its a good deal.

It's rugged and plush. The outer case Is well made and sturdy. The inside is padded and provides firm fit and security. Thanks for the suggestion on this case.

This is a great case. My Epiphone Sg standard fits perfect. I did notice that the latches were a little rough but nothing not too give this a 5. Colleen texted me that day to Tell me it maybe delayed because of the snow. People like Colleen are the reason this South Carolina boy calls Sweetwater his favorite music store.

I have a SG copy from Vintage (Trev Wilkinson's brand).
The guitar is too broad at both bouts.

Nice case but NOT an automatic fit for every SG style out there.

Case fits my SG perfect, nice soft interior keeps guitar protected from scratches or dings. Also case is a lot lighter than expected but is so without lacking protection. All in all great case only reason for 4.5 stars is the lock doesn"t seem very strong but cool feature to have either way. Nice case... built pretty much standard. It's a little loose on the SGJ though, so you may have to pad it some.

Fits my Gibson SG perfectly. Sturdy and the interior plush for the guitar. When it locks down, feels very secure. Very pleased with the product and the price from Sweetwater.
