A superb upgrade

By Sweetwater Customer

I replaced the Palomino branded Celestion 70/80 in my Crate Palomino V32 and this speaker is a world of difference in tonal quality, response, and clarity.

G12H Creamback

By Sweetwater Customer

Bought this based on videos by zilla cabs. It's in a mojotone 1x12 open back, and sounds amazing( using with HDRX-20 and Princeton Reverb ). Sounds good clean, crunchy, and with heavy distortion. I wanted something that doesn't scoop the mids like a Vintage 30, and this speaker delivered that perfectly. I would love to hear this in a Deluxe Reverb or a Little Sister combo! Love this speaker!!!

Awesome speaker, great customer service

By Mike H.
Music Background: High school and college jazz bands, rhythm guitar; noodling around for fun; currently accompanying the church choir

I didn't know what I was missing in my sound until I installed this Celestion Creamback speaker into my 1x12 cabinet. It was an old Carvin AG100D combo amp I picked up cheap. I didn't realize it was really a bass speaker until I was talking to my brother about the so-so sound and he recommended I check the Celestion line up. There are plenty of videos on YouTube and I went through dozens to finally come to the conclusion that the Creamback was the one for me, crisp and clear plus rated to handle 75w. I thought it was pricey but, after plugging that first time, it is totally worth every dollar.
Carlos was my sales rep and he was super helpful all the way through the process. It was great to have someone to talk to rather than trying to sort it out on my own like other bigger online sites. Thank you, Carlos. Shipping went well and the package navigated the army postal service all the way to South Korea with scarcely a dent in the box so, thanks also to the packing team for wrapping it so well.
A great experience and I hope to do it again going forward.

Great Speaker!

By Carl G. from Mission Viejo, Ca.

I Put this in a Suhr 1 X 12 cabinet and it sounds fantastic! Fat lows, creamy mids, and a smooth top end. Sounds better every show as it breaks in. A very detailed speaker that exposes all aspects of your gear. Sounds great with everything i put through it. A good balanced speaker from clean to overdriven. Super happy, highly recommended !

75 watt Celestian Creamback Amp speaker

By Bob S. from Tehachapi California
Music Background: Retired geezer played guitar for sixty years, played in Church band, and enjoy noodeling at home.

I purchased a 75 watt, 8 ohm Celestian creamback speaker to replace the stock speaker in my original Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 40 watt amp. The Creamback speaker made a huge difference, and the difference was all positive, All of my guitars sounded better through the amp, including : PRS semi hollowbody, PRS Custom 22, Gretsch Tennessee Rose and Fender Strat. This is an upgrade that is well worth the price, (the price is lower than Reverb vendors) and I expect the sound to get even better as the speaker breaks in. I am a happy Sweetwater customer.

Nice in a 1x12

By Ross from Montana
Music Background: Bar bands, studio recording, guitar player of 19 years.

I replaced the speaker in a Bugera 112TS 1x12 cabinet with this. I followed Celestion's break-in instructions using a Mesa Triple Rectifier multi-watt on 50w mode. I immediately noticed an improvement over the stock speaker using that amp. I usually wouldn't use this amp with a 1x12, but it's my only tube amp and that's what the instructions alluded to using for break-in. I had tried the Mesa with the Bugera cab previously, and though the sound still wasn't ideal because of the small cab, the creamback was a vast improvement over the stock speaker. Great bottom end for a 1x12. I'm guessing this is due to the heavy magnet. Increased clarity in clean and distorted sounds. My only complaint is that it really brought out the flaws in the Katana 100w head it's meant to be used with so I see a replacement head in my future…

Bob Furlong was great to deal with, as always. He takes great care of me as well as nearly everyone I know.

Awesome replacement speakers for my Orange open back cab

By Sweetwater Customer

My Orange PPC212 Open back cab came with 2 Chinese made V30's stock. They did sound good but had a nasty midrange spike common with V30's. I replaced them with two 8 Ohm H75 Creambacks and it was a great improvement right out of the box. The speakers will get better after break in. I switch between a Blackstar HT Club 50 MKII head and my Orange Tiny Terror Jim Root head. They both sound amazing with these speakers!

G12H-75 Creamback

By Walter M. from MA
Music Background: Blues / Rock

This is a truly great Speaker.
I loaded this Speaker into a solid back single Speaker cabinet I have.
I have been using it with multiple heads I get noticeably better tone responses from all three heads ( 50 watt JMC 800, BUGERA 5 WATT INFINITY, and as main Speaker or extension Speaker on a 65 reissue deluxe reverb)
I get nice fat lows and mids without sacrificing any high end.
Definitely Creamy tone

Surpassed expectations

By benderb9 from St Petersburg, FL
Music Background: old rocker, experimental guitarist

Bought this to replace a Jensen I had in a Weber 1 x 12" cabinet, fully insulated, configured as closed back. This is paired up to an old Hammond Organ amplifier (2 x 6V6, 1 x12AX7, 1 x 12AT7) that has a volume, a tone and three way switch that changes the eq curve. This Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 12" 75-Watt speaker is so superior to the Jensen it is really unfair to compare. The Celestion has a nice tight/clear thump to it without being muddy all the while letting this amp chime beautifully through the mid/upper frequencies. What a profound difference a speaker can make. Didn't know I needed this speaker until I got it.

Great Speaker

By OldManMikey from Northern KY
Music Background: 40 Year Guitar Enthusiast

I'm using this in an open back 1 x 12 cabinet with Fender Tweed Champ and Tweed Deluxe type amps. To me it sounds a lot like a Vintage 30 but with more chime and detailed mids. Highs are not harsh at all. Breakup is smooth when cranked. Playing blues with humbuckers.

Popped this pig in my Fender Blues Deluxe with worn out stock valves. Sounds incredible. Warm and musical. Buy it and kick your rig up. Sweetwater rules as per usual.

Such an upgrade

By Alex from Dallas Texas
Music Background: Guitar and bass

Went from a celestion 70 / 80 (honestly not a terrible speaker, I think the hate they get is a little unwarranted but I digress) to this 75 creamback. HOLY. Without even breaking it in its just so great in all tones and very loud.

Unfortunately, I already got a note from my neighbor but I would say that's a good thing. If you're looking to upgrade your "marshall style" amp seriously look no further.

3rd Review

By sparrow from NY

My first review was two stars, my second was 4 stars, now back to two. Why? Well, I've had the opportunity to compare it to two other speakers, the Alnico Cream and the Redback. I know the Alnico Cream might not be a fair comparison considering price, but if you're a gear-head and tone junkie, then price doesn't matter. However, the Redback is in the same price range. Compared to the others, the Creamback 75 seems notched and sometimes difficult to EQ, while the other two give you pretty much what you give them. Also, the Creamback 75 can easily get brash and harsh-sounding in the higher frequencies.

Just right!

By Brucek2k3 from Fort Worth
Music Background: Gigging Intermediate trying to be advanced guitarist

I needed a 12 in. for my 112 cab and my extra speaker was just too "wooley" sounding with the lower freqs being to muddled. The Creamback really focuses on voicing the upper mids and avoids the icepick highs. It really helped with gigging and claiming a niche with the mix. It really exceeded my expectations for cutting some sonic room without being obnoxious. And as always a big thank you to AJ Beccera.

By Jim O. from Plainfield Illinois
Music Background: Professional Musician/ Producer

I purchased a used Rivera Clubster 45 combo amp(Late 90s Early 2000) and the original Seventy 80 speaker was just tired. I swapped it out and installed the G12 H-75 Creamback...All I can say is my guitar feels like butter through this amp now.. Chimey. Great mids.. Even the second channel on the amp is useful now.....Perfect match

Great Speaker!

By Chris from Baltimore, MD
Music Background: Guitarist

I installed this in a Music Man HD-130 2x12 paired with a British voiced Jensen C12K-2 and I have to say it sounds like heaven. This speaker tamed some harshness from the amp and rounded the whole sound out. I’ve always liked Celestion speakers in Fender style amps and this was no exception. Thanks Celestion and thanks Sweetwater for your excellent customer service. I was immediately contacted and offered assistance. The speaker arrived in like two days too which was a huge plus.

G12H75

By Mark W. from Missouri

Just replaced the seventy 80 with the G12H75 in a Marshall dsl40c. What a huge difference. It sounds like a whole different amp. This is the best upgrade you can do if you have the seventy 80. And again Matthew went the extra mile for me. Sweetwater you guys ROCK.

2nd Review

By sparrow from NY

In my first review, I complained about flubby bass. Also, the speaker sounded kind of brash too. Been playing it for a few months now. Overall, the speaker sounds a bit more smooth. Also, because this is a full-range speaker, you really have to dial back the bass and treble to get a smooth sound that's not too muddy and brash. I have two of these in a 2x12 cab, so I don't plan to sell it and try again, but I am learning to live with it. They are a great speaker, but you really have to know how to EQ them to get what you want. Not sure if they'd work well with a Marshall or any other amp where the tone controls don't do much, but if you have an amp with great tone controls, you'll probably find the tone you need. A comparison might help. I've played this cab side-by-side a mesa 2x12 lonestar with C90s and a PRS 2x12 with Celestion V-Type speakers. I play mostly clean jazz now, and these other two cabs sound terrible compared to the creamback 75s. Yeah, I know what you're thinking: if you play jazz, get a 15. Still searching for a great 15 cab; so far, all of them sound very notched to me. Fact of the matter is, almost everything out there is made to play rock and roll.

Just Ok

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: experienced

Why all the great reviews? I have two of these in an open-back two-twelve cab wired in 4 ohms. Thought I could get a nice Fender clean sound. NOT! Too heavy and muddy in the bass and low mids. One thing all that bass does do is make leads sound bigger. Considering the weight of these speakers, I was expecting a lot more clarity from them, so I don't think they are as versatile and celestion claims they are.

Great Tone!!

By David O. from Monterey, CA
Music Background: Gigging guitarist

As often cited by experienced guitarists, there are MANY elements to consider that contribute to that holy grail of "tone" ... it starts with playing technique and propagates through the instrument you are playing and its settings (volume/tone settings/pups), any external effects (pedals) used and the amp/settings. I never appreciated the fundamental importance of speaker selection in that signal chain until I popped one of these Celestion G12H's into the unloaded Rivera Silent Sister ISO cab I recently purchased. WOW!! I have a Mesa 5:50 Express combo with a 12" Celestion Black Shadow (a custom speaker made specifically by Celestion for the Mesa line) and a new Fender Super Champ X2 with 10" Celestion Greenback. While both those valve amps and speaker combos are great, the tone generated by this Creamback has something very special to it. So glad I made this purchase!

Creamback charm

By Doug M. from Texas
Music Background: old timer

Just dropped a 12H Celestion Creamback -75 in my Laney Amp. WOW! Extra tight low end added and more distinct highs. I nowl ove my amp even more than before. If you are looking for a speaker upgrade this should be your first choice!

A new speaker is by far a cheaper and in my opinion a better move than buying a new amp. Unless of course you are needing to upgrade for particular reasons.

All in all this is one sweet speaker.

75w Creamback

By Bill
Music Background: 60's to 80's Classic to Hard Rock

I have a pair in a 2x12 wired for a 16ohm load to use with my Marshall circuits.
These speakers required very little break in time as they sounded good out the box
and now sound even better as they have warmed up a bit. Much more rounded than a V30.
They retain a nice chime even with heavy gain settings and no flubby bass at high volumes.
I'm purchasing two more to mix with V30's in a 4x12 as they did work well together in my 2x12.

Perfection

By Scott K. from STOW, OH

What a fantastic sounding speaker this is. Just has that great old tone I think of when I think Celestion. Cream, Allman Brothers, Zeppelin. Yeah that tone. Very balanced tone. No weird peaks or valleys. Has highs but they are sweet, not brittle. Plus it handles 75 watts so it is perfect for most 1X12 combos. I can't even imagine anybody who likes Celestion speakers wouldn't LOVE this speaker.

Sounds Fantastic

By Derrick from Boston
Music Background: Professional

I put this in a Line 6 Spider IV 75, and it's a huge, YUGE (ha ha) improvement over the stock Celestion. Way more note definition on the overdrive sounds; I found I had to turn the gain/drive up about 10% on some of the overdrive sounds because of the fact that it sounded so much cleaner; and also turned down some of the bass and treble settings as the speaker performs better than the original in those frequencies. Again, the clarity of the notes in chords when using overdrive, and with really saturated distortion tones is vastly improved. It's a pretty big investment for a $300-400 amp, but with this speaker, it will sound like a $1000 amp. I have an Orange Rockerverb to compare it to, and though it's not as good, it definitely holds it's own against it now. I should add that I built my sounds from the ground up, and the overdrive sound I use is actually one of the clean (green) amp sounds with their classic distortion pedal fx. I also use the metal red setting for high gain distortion.
Anyway, this speaker is a great match for the Line 6 Spider 75.

Just Right....

By Lee M. from Dallas, TX

I am pretty picky about my sound and gear, and have spent a great deal of time listening to sound files of a number of different speaker brands and models. This G12H-75 sounded like it was on the mark to what I was after, but I have found that you really can't make that final conclusion until you hear it in person. I am very pleased with this speaker, and find that it appears to be the "happy medium" to all sound qualities: Good low end but not overwhelming, very good clean sound, the drive sound is great and not too raspy. It is a well rounded sound!

Celestion G12H-75 Creamback. Freakin' Killer !!!

By Rick M. from O'Fallon, MO
Music Background: I've played guitar for 54 years, have played in bands, worked as a guitar teacher both in stores and in the students home, have written and recorded music and currently have retired to to my home where I still write and play and do equipment reviews

I've been playing a very long time and have owned a multitude of amps and speaker cabinets. Altec, Electro-Voice, Jensen, JBL Celestion, Eminence and Weber speakers have all had both good and less than good product offerings. The new Celestion G12H-75 Creamback is an especially good speaker and, in my opinion, for it's build purpose of bringing G12H tone to those needing a speaker that can handle a much higher wattage, it's excellent at delivering what the buyer is hoping for.
My personal favorite speakers, to show where my head's at are, in no particular order, Eminence 12" Wizards and 10" Ragin' Cajuns, EVM 12L's, JBL D120 and Celestion's Heritage G12H 55Hz and 75Hz, G12H Anniversary, Vintage 30, Alnico Blue, Alnico Gold and 10" G10 Alnico Gold.
My reason for purchasing the new G12H-75? I own a wonderful hand wired 60 watt Fender Concert 1 X 12" combo built in 1984. I wanted to pair it up for some stereo applications with my Tony Bruno Underground 30, (approx 38 watts). The Bruno is a 2 X 12" and, in my case, sports an Alnico Blue paired with a G12H Anniversary. After ready the specs on the G12H-75 I thought I'd give it a shot. It actually worked out much better than I'd hoped. The higher wattage capability causes the G12H-75 to be a bit darker than the G12H Anniversary and has a fuller, somewhat thicker sound quality to it. It actually compares quite favorably to the combined tonality of the G12H Anniversary and Alnico Blue used together and this is exactly what I was going for. I needed a speaker that could, by itself, stand up to the 60 watt RMS rated Fender Concert. Considering the limited number of speakers up to the task I don't think I could have made a better choice.
A little icing for the cake ..... the Celestion G12H-75 has 8 mounting holes that matched up perfectly with the 8 mounting screws in the Fender Concert cab. The label on the speaker magnet is cocked a bit to the right but no one's going to know. Many speakers today sport 4 instead of 8 holes and it's a pain to either cut off four mounting screws or drill four mounting holes in a brand new speaker, (returns can be a bitch).
I've now had time to use the G12H-75 both for it's original purpose as well as in the Fender Concert as a stand alone amp and truly couldn't be more impressed. The G12H-75 is not vintage Fender voiced but the 1984 Fender Concert had traded it's original "'60s Concert" second channel for a higher gain channel to fit the times and, for those times in the mid 1980's, the Celestion G12H-75 is absolutely perfect. Had it been around in 1984 I would have to believe it would have been Fenders speaker of choice for the Fender Concert 1 X 12" combo.

RESPONSIVE

By Patrick from Decatur IL
Music Background: touring, recording, writing and living it...

This thing kills... I replace a Celestion G12s-50 in a Laney AOR 30 I bought on line. The speaker that was in the amp turned to mush on the low end. I read some reviews of the 75 and they were favorable in general. Saw one or two that said the high end was too much. I found the G12H-75 to respond to the amps tone controls perfectly. I used to run greenbacks in a 1960TV and loved the sound, but the 75 lit up this little combo unbelievably. Only had a few minutes with it but I can't wait for more...

Great speakers!

By Bernie C. from Nashville, TN

I recently bought a new Fender Vintage "65 Twin Reverb reissue that came with stock Jensens. My guitar tech told me about these Creambacks and they sounded like they might work with a Twin. They're really smooth and clean and handle the power of the Twin great. I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS! And the great thing is, our House Engineer loves the sound as well. Highly endorse these speakers!

One Bad @ss Revealing Speaker!

By DudeAbides_86 from Lamar, MO
Music Background: Gigging Musician, Guitar/Bass player

This is one amazing sounding speaker! Extremely articulate highs and defining lows. I was worried that it wouldn't carry the mids i was looking for, but its still extremely smooth in that respect. Swapped this one out for the stock speaker in my 1x12 Line 6 DT cab and it sounded so much fuller and richer, like a blanket was taken off the amp...If your considering a speaker upgrade this one is truly a no-brainer!
