TC Electronic Flashback 2 Mini Delay Pedal Reviews

Mini Delay Pedal with TonePrint Technology, Tap Tempo/MASH Switch, USB Connection, and True/Buffered Bypass Switching

All your favorite Flashback 2 delay tones — and then some — come to an unbelievably slim form factor in the TC Electronic Flashback 2 Mini delay pedal from Sweetwater. This mini's eight versatile delay types range from crunchy tape echoes and flawless digital repeats to a mesmerizing new Crystal shimmer effect, which are all accessible via wired USB or wireless TonePrint transfer to suit any ensemble type or genre of music. On/off, MASH, and tap-tempo functions are accessible from the single footswitch, giving you expression-pedal-like control and Edge-worthy timed repeats without auxiliaries. This means even more space savings for your cramped pedalboard. Right onboard, a simple 3-knob control scheme affords quick access to your favorite delay tones. Meanwhile, true bypass switching (buffered bypass capable) and an Analog-dry-through signal path mean great tone whether the pedal is in use or not.

This is what I've been looking for

By Bill Marchlewski from O'Fallon, MO on April 11, 2024 Music Background: Lead Guitarist /vocalist

If you like to play huge Leads this is the one. This compact pedal will be whatever type of Delay you want with the use of the TonePrint app. I have some delay settings on my practice amp, a Line 6 Spider V that I want to use when playing out. I tried several delay pedals to mimic the Line 6 and nothing worked. I was able to use the TonePrint app to push a Delay with Modulation setting that was exactly what I was needing. The TonePrint app takes this above everything else. You can't beat this for the price.

Small but Delayful

By Sweetwater Customer on March 3, 2024

3 knobs - very nice range of response. Simple but effective. Nice small footprint for the pedalboard!

TC Electronic Flashback 2 Mini Delay Pedal

By C. DeWitt from Prescott, AZ on September 20, 2023 Music Background: Guitar.

TC Electronic makes great pedals, period. This mini delay, once dialed in, is no exception. Small, space saving pedal that works. Thank you Alex Campos and the folks at Sweetwater, hands down, bests the business.

Great and cheap all-rounder

By Bob L. from Northern Virgina on July 14, 2023 Music Background: Amateur

Picked this up from Sweetwater on sale, so paid very little for it. It does toneprints, so, if you hear a delay, you can find one similar on the app or edit your own, again using the app - though you need to use a mini-USB cable (and camera connection kit for iPhone) to connect to your device. You can get long delays up to 8 seconds, you can get crank the level and get infinite loops or runaway delay. You can get good reverse, shimmer, tape, flange, chorus, doubler, echorec, and 2290 delays.

Nice Little Delay

By Len from ADAIRSVILLE, GA on July 10, 2023

Picked up a demo pedal to round out my setup. I needed something that would fit on my board. This was it. Gives me the delay my sound was missing with a small foot print and price. Very happy.

Great Delay

By Tucker from Houston, TX on June 16, 2023 Music Background: Professional Musician

Fun and easy to use delay pedal. Noise-free footswitch is a great touch. It can do all kinds of fancy stuff, but this simpleton is happy just using it like a basic guitar pedal.

A Good Space Filler

By JES from El Paso on June 8, 2023 Music Background: Guitar player for 58 years.

I've been a big fan of the Flashback series for years. I recently wanted to add a second delay to one of my boards, and the Flashback II Mini was ideal. Works great with acoustic and electric guitars, and in the 20 years I've bought TCE pedals - I've never had one fail.

First Impression .... Fun Pedal

By Mel from Bloomsburg, PA on April 22, 2023 Music Background: Gigging Musician

I just unboxed the pedal and placed it on my pedal board. First impressions: Another solid well built pedal from tc electronics, a hair wider than the Stagg BLAXX Delay it replaced (had to swap some chords and shuffle a couples down), the controls are not too mini, and a nice range of clean delay goodness. I think I will really like this little guy.

lovely delay

By Daniel Edgington from Lancaster, OH on March 30, 2023

Love the sounda but how easy it is to turn off and on compared to every other pedal I own is taking time to get use too.

Awesome pedal! Exceeded my expectations and this delay pedal provides the exact delay effect I was hoping for. Great buy for the money!

Nice little pedal that easily fits on the pedalboard.

Must Have Delay

By KenS from NC on January 7, 2022 Music Background: Old pro turned hobbyist.

To enable Tap Tempo you disable Mash in the Tone Print Editor. Then it is the absolute shirt!

Great Little Mini Delay

By Bill Harris from Charlotte, NC on December 25, 2021 Music Background: 50+ year guitarist and ReverbNation Artist.

This solidly built little mini pedal works great in the effects loop of my Mesa Boogie Mark Five 25 Combo amp. I liked this pedal because of the tap tempo function which I use when recording. It hooked up flawlessly to the TC software through USB. You can easily demo and change the type of delay that it stores, but I ended up liking the default Tape delay that it ships with. It's a nice dark delay that stays clear of your guitar tone. I think this pedal works best as a special purpose delay since it only stores one type at a time. If you need a jack of all trades type pedal for multiple delay types, then the bigger Flashback delays would be better suited. Great price, sound and size. I like it!!

Flashback 2 Mini Delay

By Sweetwater Customer on December 19, 2021

This pedal is easy to use with a lot of great sounds. I was skeptical of the small size and the tone print software but took a chance anyway. The tone print software gives you plenty to experiment with. Most importantly it sounds great and is quiet. This is going to be my main delay pedal. I also want to thank my sales rep Sam Cogar for the follow up text to make sure everything was in order.

Performed as advertised.

A Nice Surprise

By Brian from California on December 10, 2021 Music Background: Musician, synthesist, producer.

I picked this up because it was on sale and because I wanted a nicer mini delay pedal for my synth rack. I also thought the TonePrint feature might be interesting. I was wrong. It is rather one of the coolest features I have encountered. The delay is very nice out of the box but with TonePrint I have dozens of delays I can use. Rather have a chorus instead? Dozens of chorus templates to choose from. They call it a delay pedal but, really, it can be just about any type of modulation you can think of and it's fully customizable so you can invent your own and save it as a preset. What a bargain! It is mono but if you have to have stereo, pick up its big brother. It's more but totally worth it.

Great Delay Pedal! Simple and easy to use

By Ken Macy on August 31, 2021 Music Background: Professional Musician

I love the tap temp option on this pedal. So easy to use and I like that it's 3 knobs. Find your sound, set it and forget it.

Very good at delay

By Rs on January 31, 2021

Simple pedal, with a very small footprint. I have this set as a subtle slapback. It's always on, super transparent. Very happy with this pedal.

Love the delay.

By Phil from Michigan on June 17, 2020 Music Background: Rock & Roller since Lassie was a pup.

I purchased this delay pedal to set up in my effects loop . I watched a video with Steve Vai and how he set up his pedal board. He spoke how putting your Volume, Chorus, and Delay pedals in the pre amp side witch is the effects loop on the amp.He also showed how to use 2 delay pedals and having them set at different speeds. Amazing sound. Clean. This pedal can help you get that desired sound.

What else can you say?

By Philip Rodden from Statesville, NC on May 4, 2020 Music Background: Perpetual learner

What a stellar little delay pedal.

Love it, so small but not diminished. Having the TonePrint option software on these TC pedals makes it possible to turn this little monster into pretty much any kind of delay pedal you could ever want or need ever again.

I have to say I've had incredible fun downloading different defaults of delays to my pickups and it's been amazing to hear so many different sounds Instantly created and experiment with it.

Haven't used the Mash option much, I haven't noticed a huge play on it with the options I've tried, and probably won't Use it much to be honest, so I can't speak of that option, but the TonePrint and overall workings of the pedal, plus it's small size and solid construction give it a definite 5 stars for me.

If all the TC mini pedals are this good, I'd definitely consider more later on.

My "Go To" Delay

By John Paolillo from Old Lyme, CT on October 5, 2022

I love this pedaland the fact that it doesn'ttake up much space on my board. Use it mainly for solos.I gave it 4 stars because my first one's switch failed after a few years.

Foot Switch Issue

By Sweetwater Customer on February 11, 2021 Music Background: Intermediate / Rhythm Guitar / Self Taught / Gear Nerd / Reggae

My only issue is the new foot switch. Idk if it's because of the new mesh feature but it's really sticky. It's not so bad when I gently and precisely activate the pedal but when I'm in the moment the occasional stickiness throws off the vibe lol
Would be a 5/5 STARS if the switch was the same old soft switch like the older model. Other than that I love everything about this tiny pedal. Tone Print is genius!

Great sounding pedal, tough to dial in

By Sweetwater Customer on June 30, 2023

The level is difficult to control even when changing the curve through the app. You get a very small range from too little to to much. Otherwise the pedal sounds great and has plenty of options from bright and clean to dark and crunchy.

Toneprint Stopped Working After A Year

By Sweetwater Customer on April 17, 2024

The toneprint function stopped working, and it is just outside the warranty window. Now my pedal is permanently on a crappy shimmer delay that I tried and didn't like. How convenient. I will never buy a toneprint product again. Don't make the same mistake I did.

not for me

By Wade from Westfield, IN on January 18, 2024 Music Background: gigging musician

I had difficulty mixing wet and dry signal to get a functional sound out of this thing. Could only get 100% wet, subsequently throwing all timing off of my solos, even whenusing tap tempo function. Toneprint software is not user friendly. Had to search for Toneprint user manual, nonexistent user manual with the pedal. Spent much time on YouTube trying to figure this thing out. I'm not stupid, but it sure made me feel that way. Had to purchase USB 2 go cable to connect to my phone. Cool sounds, but not functional for me. Was able to return it for a different brand.

Great concept-poor execution

By Jim G from Pittsburgh on December 11, 2021

I received the Flashback 2 Mini and was enjoying many of the TonePrint settings. After trying different types for about 30 minutes the effect dropped out without touching the switch. Turned it back on, beamed a couple other models, it did it again. After turning it on again and loading another print it stopped taking changes. Powered it off, no results- stuck on the last TonePrint. Good luck finding a manual- nowhere to be seen! Installed the TonePrint software, had to buy a USB Cable- none included. Once I got it connected Software wouldn't communicate with the pedal- so no way to check firmware. I don't recommend this pedal. Seems like a cool idea, but too many glitches and poor documentation. I play music to escape the frustration of computer stuff- not to add more hassle! Sent it back. Sales Engineer was very helpful with the return.
