As I continue to learn about recording, mixing, and mastering, over the past few months I been honing in on what harsh resonances and unwanted buildups in specific frequencies do to mixes, especially vocal wise.. I have a handful of great spectral processing/resonance suppression plugins, such as Smooth Operator Pro from Baby Audio, but since vocals live specifically in the midrange, I decided to give this one a try and I'm glad I did!! I sometimes can struggle with stuff like muddiness/boxiness and harshness, and need all the help I can get… Fixate Midrange is full featured, and it has an option where it analyzes your audio for you, now for the most part I am still not fully trusting what AI assistant type plugins do, but this one here is the first time where I can honestly say that it's VERY accurate and gives you a good idea where you would want your mix to be… it almost feels like cheating!! you can then tweak more parameters in detail to get those otherwise bad resonant rich vocals to sit in the mix properly! granted, I'm still learning this plugin, but I wanted to be the first to say that Fixate Midrange is the truth!! it is what it says it is.. even though this is a brand new product, I strongly believe that this will become a massive hit in due time, highly recommended!!
