Wampler Ego 76 Compressor Pedal
Wampler Ego 76 Compressor Pedal Reviews
Fueled by FET-based circuitry, the Wampler Ego 76 packs studio-quality 1176-style compression into a traditional guitar effects pedal. All the iconic character is there; plugging into the Ego 76 endows your guitar tone with a magical brilliance that recalls its studio counterpart's famous all-buttons-in mode. It gives you studio-level control over your sound with Attack, Release, Level, and Compress knobs. You also get a Tone knob for injecting your signal with the perfect amount of brightness, as well as a Blend knob for instant parallel compression. The Ego 76 boasts high-grade components, space-saving top-mounted jacks, robust aluminum knobs, and a premium chameleon sapphire finish. This stompbox does more than merely squash your signal; it enhances it. No matter how stellar your guitar tone is, it's a sure bet that the Wampler Ego 76 will make it sound even better.
Great compressor!
I've got the Ego Wampler Compressor as well as this new one. Both are awesome, however, this is just that much better as much less noisy than the Ego. Think you'd be hard pressed to get a better compressor pedal in this price range. I really love Wampler pedals, they are super well made and sound so sweet!
Excellent Sounding, Small Form Factor Pedal
My Behringer's Pro VS Mini volume is very low, even when turned up to max. The low volume level is made even worse by my TC Electronic June-60v2 chorus pedal cutting any sound input by half while activated. So I decided that since I love both the Pro VS Mini and June-60vs together that I needed a slim compressor pedal with all of its jacks on the back. This was a great decision because the Wampler Ego 76 fit perfectly next to the June-60v2, with my Strymon Cloudburst last in the chain. Now that synth + effects chain sounds phenomenal and I couldn't be happier.
Sounds Great
I needed this pedal to boost my Pro VS Mini's DB level into a TC Electronic June-60v2 pedal that cuts any synths volume by half. It sounds phenomenal and I'm a happy camper. I highly recommend this slim form factor compressor with it's in & out on the back for tight studio space.
Exactly what I was looking for!
I love this compressor! Exactly what I was looking for. My compressor journey started with the Keeley 4 knob which is great but too heavy-handed for my taste. I have a Bogner Lyndhurst with the Rubert Neve transformer in it. Very cool, but still cuts too much of the transients (no blend). The Ego 76 lets me have it all. I can control sparkle and transients while lifting the sustain to taste. The only other thing I would ask for is an LED cut meter so I can see what its doing (nice to have, not a need). Brian Wampler nailed this one! Thanks
Best yet!
This replaced my old Keeley 4 Knob, and I wish I hadn't waited. Finally, all the sustain, none of the murdered pick dynamics. Transparent? Yes, but.., Not exactly… it's far better. Like much much-mo-bettah. Well done Wampler!
Fantastic compressor!
Super quiet and an abundance of control! Beautiful paint job too! Highly recommend this one!
This thing is amazing
This Is The One
This is BY FAR the best compressor I have ever used. I don't know how to explain it, but it just makes everything sound better in a way that I've always heard about but never experienced with other compressor pedals.
As a huge bonus, it adds absolutely no noise to my signal, no matter the settings. I've gone through every "best" compressor pedal over the years, and even with top-notch power conditioners they always added noise. This is as quiet as can be.
I will never buy another compressor pedal of any type, unless there are future updates of this one, and I can't imagine how it could be improved upon. Thank you Brian!
Dynamic
This is the best 1176 recreation I have encountered in a pedal. Brian really put the work in on this compressor.
Replaced my Keeley Compressor +
I'm not gonna go into great detail about the pedal, but I will say this is the compressor pedal I was looking for. It replaced my Keeley Compressor + that was on my board for over three years. The EGO 76 produces more "feel" then the Keeley when playing.
I gave 4 stars because the pedal arrived with loose knob set screws - all six of them. Not a major issue, just a 1.5mm hex bit and about two minutes and all was well. Still, not something one should have to do on any brand new pedal.
