Awesome Strings

These strings sound awesome, they have a brightness to them that sticks around for a fair amount of time. Just fantastic tone

Rock on.

In my opinion these are some some of the best stings on the market and at a fair price. The sound is so crunchy I love it.

These strings ring and growl

I have to agree with the other reviewer Brandon about these strings. I have these strings on a PRS and a Reverse Jaguar. These strings KICK ***!!!

TL;DR: Rotosounds on 'Roids.

I like my bass to sound super-pronounced, and these strings DEFINITELY do the job! I put them on as soon as I got them so I could see if my gamble would pay off, and it was smiles-for-miles all evening.

I had an idea as to what to expect from a product demo I saw on YouTube with a Squier Jazz Bass. Compared to the Rotosound Swing Bass 66 set I had on there beforehand, there is a marked difference from what I remember hearing when I first put on the new Rotos. With the Rotos, the tone was very bell-like to begin with. With the Cobalts, the tone is a lot brighter, broader and more aggressive--on top of what was already established with the Rotos.

For context, I've got a 2016 American Professional Jazz Bass. Neck pickup is at 100%, bridge and tone knobs at 50%. I was using a Line 6 Firehawk FX, amp being a Marshall Super Bass 100 on a 4x12 Green Cab. EQ'd with lows at about 160hz (9 dB), low mids around 420 Hz (10.4 dB), high mids around 4.4 kHz (6.8 dB) and highs at 6.1 kHz (5.1 dB). Compression was at a -43dB threshold at 10 dB gain.

Even with the tone knob dialed back to half, I was able to get a highly-aggressive sound that I like. The sound was a lot more even, as well. My pickups were a lot clearer, the trebles were just as pronounced and the bass had a lot more weight to it than I ever remember before.

The feel compared to the Rotosounds is just about the same. I was expecting something slick like the stock, nickel D'Addario/Fender strings that come on Fender-family basses. The feel was comparable to the Rotosound strings (a little rough, but nothing crazy), so I can say I liked them. (I never was terribly crazy about slicker strings for whatever reason. Felt like they dug into my fingers more.)

Based on what I got out of these thus far, I think I've switched brands. I liked the Rotos, but these feel like a more balanced, amplified upgrade on the original recipe. I'm going to be buying another set in a couple months. (Maybe later if they're long-lived.) If you like your roundwounds to make your guitar sound like a howitzer, these should be your next buy.

Cobalt slinky bass strings

This is my second review for these strings. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am with these strings! I have been using these strings for a few years now on a couple of my main basses. They have great growl to them, they last a long time. I change them about every four months. I practice almost every day four two hours plus gigging . There has been a lot of hype over these strings and it's all true. The only thing is they zing a bit, but that to me is minor. The strings are also more powerful, louder and the E string doesn't get all flubbery or muddy on the open E. They stay in tune very well too. I won't use any other strings on my main basses because I already have and hated the the other strings I've tried. These strings are worth trying. Thanks Ernie Ball and Marcos Sanchez for being the best!
