Drum Key with 1/4" Hexagonal Shaft for Drills and Screwdrivers

The Evans Drill Bit Key takes the hassle out of changing your drum heads. That's because the Drill Bit Key features a 1/4" hexagonal shaft that works in conjunction with most cordless drills and screwdrivers - just attach it to the end of your drill and get to work. As you'd expect from Evans gear, the Drill Bit Key is ruggedly built for the long term - it's chrome-plated and drop-forged for extreme durability. Make sure you have the right tool for the job - the Evans Drill Bit Key makes head changes a snap!

Bit falls out of chuck

By Paul M. from LYNDHURST, OH

I have a very nice Metabo (Hitachi) electric screwdriver. I have dozens of bits for this tool... screwdrivers, nut drivers, twist drills, etc. Every bit I have fits perfectly into the chuck of my electric screwdriver, EXCEPT THIS ONE! I'm not sure why, but this Evans "drum key" bit falls out of the chuck when the tool is inverted... like when you're about to unscrew the tension rods on your drum. This is very annoying. I think maybe the groove for the retention spring in the chuck is too narrow. Regardless, I'm buying another similar product with a wider groove. This one is going in the trash.

Wish I Had Read The Reviews

By Michael O. from San Francisco, CA

One of the few times I didn't read the reviews. But what could go wrong with such a simple tool?

Every other review is correct- this doesn't fit a 1/4" impact driver. Useless.

"bit" won't fit standard 1/4" hex driver. My measures 0.005 oversize. Someone didn't factor in the heavy chrome job.

Fantastic Product!

By Zeke from Millville, UT

This Evans drum key works great! It makes changing drum heads quick and easy. The Key seems to work best in a 3/8 - 1/2 inch drill application. One thing I did noticed, it did not fit my 1/4 inch impact drill or screwdriver, so just a heads up. 10/10 would recommend.

HEX Head is a Complete Fraud

By Mark D. from Eastern United States
Music Background: Forty Year Veteran Drummer, Keyboardist, and Professional Enginner

Do NOT purchase this product.

I'm the last of three reviews for the same defect.

Like in baseball, three strikes and you're out.

Read all three reviews.

My Rating is Negative 5 Stars.

If you provide a ¼ Inch Hex bit, then it should work with all standard 1/4 Inch Hex tools.

This absolutely does not for all my Hex tools.

The Hex on this product is oversized and cannot fit or be forced to fit.

Why design a Hex fit if it does not fit properly?
'
If Evans intends it only for a drill having a drill chuck with jaws and a chuck key, then why make a Hex. Those type drills work extremely well with round drill bits.

In that case, the Hex would be considered a deceptive ploy.

My picture shows the two are Completely Incompatible.

Save yourself the grief and find another product.

Will only work in a drill

By romdos from Midwest

This is not what they present it to be. The "bit" won't fit into a standard 1/4" hex driver. I have a DeWalt (not a no-name brand) driver and this won't even begin to fit inside it. Also, my lugs are recessed on my Ludwig Centennial kit (see photo)and the wall of the socket is too thick to fit inside it. So they are 0 for 2. This *will* work in a drill chuck where you tighten it down to fit the bit, but not in a hex chuck designed for 1/4" hex bits like you get at the hardware store.

This is a must have if you're changing heads often (or at all really). Huge time (and arm) saver.
