A criminally underrated brand making some of the best strings on the market

First off; DR strings are criminally underrated and I think that might have to do with a general misunderstanding of their construction. The Tite-Fit line of strings are *round core* guitar strings, meaning that the wrap wire is wound on a round core wire rather than a hex core (like most major manufacturers—D'Addario, Ernie Ball, Elixr, Stringjoy, etc.—use). There are benefits and drawbacks; the biggest being that if you cut the strings before they're wrapped around the post, they will go dead as there's nothing the wrap wire can grip to like a hex core string. This is where I feel most people's experiences with DRs sounding muddy, dead, or inconsistent comes from. (DR also produces normal hex core strings in their DDT line.)

I had started on D'Addario strings first, then played Ernie Balls for about 10 years. I made the switch when I started to feel like there was something I didn't like about my tone that wasn't coming from the amp, pickups, etc. I tried DR on a whim and I don't think I'll ever look back. To describe their sound I would say they resonate in a much wider frequency spectrum than other brands and, out of the box, they sound less narrow, bright, and tinny. They have a tone that sits firmly between vintage and modern sounding and require little break-in for tuning stability. These hold tune incredibly.

A huge benefit to the round core is that they keep forever due to there being no air gaps between the wrap and core wires. (If you have sweaty hands, these are for you!) They keep as long as any coated string I've tried.

I would describe the feel of these as much less "coarse" than Ernie Ball and D'addario strings. They have an incredibly smooth feel with very little finger noise. I would also say that, overall, these have a stiffer feel per gauge when strumming, but bending on the wound strings is surprisingly easier than other brands I've tried. I went from Ernie Ball .11s down to DR .09s and have found no issues with strumming/bending things out of tune. They also intonate extremely well. I rarely have to mess with intonation on my guitar with these.

I can't recommend these enough to anyone who is curious. Regardless of playing style, preferred tunings, etc. These are incredible strings that really feel handmade, and their manufacturing and QC seems to have one of the sharpest eyes in the game. DR truly makes some of the best and most underrated strings on the market. I have tried many other brands since I switched to these (including Stringjoy which I really hated) and I always come back to the Tite-Fits. Of course I always have to shout out my dude Mike Conyers for the killer customer service and care he takes into every purchase I make, even something as innocuous as guitar strings.

Amazing

These strings are so good. The sound doesn't change so fast like most companies do. They're bright, big and tight. Best of all, they last. In my top 3
