I bought the 5 trigger plus cords combo pack. It was an experiment, as I have never used triggers before now. It was easy to connect them to my Alesis MultiPad Pro and to configure them. The bass trigger and tom tom triggers "double trigger" only occasionally. I'm going to experiment with taping and damping to solve that. With the Alesis pad sounds, it REALLY makes the acoustic kit more full and versatile. A great alternative to miking drums for small live applications, to get "regular" effects (reverb) as well as to fatten the kick, and get lots of unusual / custom sounds (due to the great patches in the Alesis). I had to use Y splitters to get two Toms into one channel of the Alesis, and the snare and floor tom with the other trigger channel. The Alesis has a trigger channel for kick. I was happy enough with these that I left it on my studio kit and bought another set for my Road kit for live gigs. As I experiment, I may upgrade, but so far, so good!

These are sensitive and easy to set up. The kik trigger is a tad fussy to fit on the drum and ( in my opinion) it shouldn't be on the outer edge of the drum, instead of making the kik trigger on the outer edge of the head which causes latency, it should be 4 or 5" from center. Other than that they freaking rock.

These cheap ddrum triggers get really bad publicity. They CAN be difficult to work with, but they don't have to be. I'm using them to side chain a gate and sometimes a compressor. There's different ways to do this, but I simply do it by running the signal from the trigger into a DI box(-20db pad) and then straight into my preamp, which also uses a -20db pad, since these signals just so happen to be crazy hot. That's the signal I use on my gate and compressor. You COULD also send that signal straight into a e-drum module and take THAT signal and use it to side chain your processors. It's great because false or double triggering is basically non-existent, although based on your set up, you might need to clean up the trigger signal a little bit first before using it as a side chain.
The only thing I couldn't get consistent results with was the bass drum trigger, because I simply refuse to have it placed on the batter head. You will not be able to use this perfectly on the resonant bass head. It works, just not as good as it would on the batter head, except that really messes with my sound.
There's nothing to fear. I tune every lug to the same pitch, which ends up pressing the triggers pretty hard against the head, but it works perfect for me. I use Evans EC2. With a little patch of duct tape as a landing pad for the piezo/foam portion of the triggers. It's perfect. The higher quality ddrum triggers with the XLR connection work even better.

Quick and easy review is that these are awesome triggers for Toms and the kick. They Work amazing with mesh but need a little patience on mylar heads. It took some time but they now perform how I want perfectly.

I'm amazed I'm the first to review this set on here. I've seen ratings for these elsewhere that range from 2-4 stars. They kind of get a bad rep, and I feel that's unfair. And if your trying to trigger a snare dont bother, they dont work well for them, and you should look into a dual zone.

NUMBER 1 THING YOU SHOULD KNOW
They perform based on application, and that is affected by everything involved from the drum to the module. I happen to use an alesis surge module, with clear pinstripe heads, so Im working with a literal nightmare for these types of triggers, yet I've had success, so don't knock these based on the fact they're cheap

People complain that they false trigger all the time. Well they probably havent really taken the time to get them dialed in right. I know we live in a plug and play day and age, but these need patience and simple adjustments to work right, but will work right!

They trigger any size mesh head like a dream, its practically plug and play.

Physical adjustment is done by easily bending the housing unit itself so the contact is pressing up against the head firmly enough to just before it starts to push in on the head. (DO NOT take the instructions too literally and make it so they just barely touch)

It also benefits from some sort of layer (gaffer) in between the head and piezo. I use o rings to dampen my very ringy toms and that just happens to be the perfect thing.
