Dangerous does it again!

This Summing box sounds great and is very easy to use. The controls are laid out in an easy to use manner. Headphone amps put out plenty of output..

I Like It!

By Bad Mac from Chandler, AZ on September 23, 2022

Summing Mixers: I purchased a Dangerous Music DBox+ monitor controller & summing mixer. I was skeptical but thought if i didn't like it i could return it. lots of mixed posts about summing mixers, worth it or not. I am not addressing that.
I am gonna say first off, i had a Presonus Central Station monitor controller that i really liked. There is a very noticeable difference in the DM Dbox+ monitor amp. I am very surprised about the clarity. I am hearing things much better, especially reverbs and other effects. this is without the summing amp. just the monitor section of the unit. Even the Kali Audio LP6 have more detail now. My CLA-10As also have more detail.
Summing section: I am still playing / learning how to use it. but it also does make a difference. need to point out that i am unsure if it is good or bad. if you monitor just the summing section, it sounds fantastic. if you monitor the DAW on the summing return, it does not sound quite the same. but over all it does sound really good. I am finding that there are additional things to learn when using the summing amp. so like anything, if you don't know how to use it, it can destroy your mix, or it can make your mix better. so far i am unsure if it makes my mix better or not. but then again, i have just started using it. I think its important to have a very good monitor section in order to really hear what the summing mixer does.
Overall, i am keeping the DBox+. Even if i abandon the summing mixer sections. the monitor controller amp is well worth it. and it has some extra inputs that may come in handy at some point.
Final statement: there is a difference in both monitoring and summing. Monitoring is no brainer, no skill needed. just sounds better. The summing section needs some skill and additional learning. it may fit into your mixing it may not. but there is a sound difference. And that difference is how well you are at using it.
just sayin.

Get This!

By Lunar Echo Studios from Nashville, TN on April 26, 2022 Music Background: Mix Engineer

I've had my Apollo for 4 years now and I wasn't utilizing its outputs until I got the DBox+! The sound is incredible and it really helps with panning/EQ/compression decisions. First thing I noticed was how amazing a bass synth sounded and the punchiness from a kick on an A/B comparison. A previous mix I did was more crisp and wide just by running it through the stems with no changes in processing! Did I mention headroom.....Get This!!!

Incredible piece of gear

By Alex P. from Virginia on March 4, 2022 Music Background: Artist, Producer, Audio Engineer

I've been using this device for about 2 weeks now. The DBOX+ has made a huge difference in my workflow in terms of expanding my ability to monitor across three pairs of studio monitors without any loss of quality is by itself worth the price of admission. I really love how I can toggle between its Sum source to hear only whats coming through my Apollo post summing and then use the Analog source to monitor the effect of my mastering chain. Wwhen you throw top-notch analog summing and the ability to control it from my phone, the DBOX+ goes over the top in value-added. The unit is not cheap but it's well worth its price in my opinion and I highly recommend it. Huge thanks to my sales engineer Josh H. for pointing me in the right direciton on this unit.

Amazing!!!

Clarity is unbelievable. Would have never known what I missing if not for my Sweetwater engineer T.J. Jackson. If you want a very knowledgeable rep that will go far beyond to help on your purchase and be there for you afterwards, then call T.J. He's the best and the reason I buy everything from Sweetwater.

Holy Cow!!!!!

By Jed Wunderli from Cottonwood Heights, UT on January 13, 2022

I was skeptical about this so I bought it knowing that if it wasn't what I was expecting, I could return it. That's not happening. I LOVE this thing. The summing mixer is fantastic and the stereo field is definitely better after going through it. The DA converters are everything they say they are - I'm blown away. I'm hearing details in songs that I've listened to for years that I didn't hear before - even in my own songs. I couldn't be more pleased with the sound and the ability to listen to the various sources. The headphone amp is also great. I love the D-Box+ so much that I'm considering getting a Dangerous Music Convert AD+ down the road. It's also built like a tank.

The answer to Summing and monitoring prayers

By Tyler Costner on October 12, 2021

Obviously it's a 2 for one like the original, but with latch mode on/off. Monoing really any two of the channels although it acts like it wants you to do on 7&8 but I've been switching sum outputs from interface inputs around different channels (Don't know if that's how it's supposed to be done so don't take my word lol) and could stereo/mono/trim cut any I chose. Which obviously there's ways to do this in a DAW but not as quickly or universal operation amongst DAWs.
So, like if I wanted a particular drum/bass stereo or mono to 2 channels I can use it for monitoring that signal on any 2 channels and increase sum trim to match my meters, or take them higher, or out, it's probably trivial to some, but nice feature that not only lets me A/B, but dedcide with two buttons mono/stereo and trim cut. It's just not something I expected using so much

Definitely Improved

By Daniel on August 25, 2019 Music Background: Professional

As a 8-year user of the previous D"Box, the new D"Box+ improves greatly on the monitoring quality and summing. I also really love the newly-added features and find myself incorporating them more and more as I use the box in my sessions.

Dangerous music does it again

By Alan Sanderson from Pacific Beat Recording on March 24, 2019 Music Background: Producer/Engineer/Studio Owner

Bigger, fatter, warmer, brighter.....it's clarity city with the new dbox plus. Dangerous Music has really outdone themselves with this fine product. Sonically, it's a huge leap from the original dbox. I've been using their products for over 10 years now and I must say this is one of their best yet. As well as its improved summing and terrific new D-A converters, the dbox plus plus has great new features with it's 5 monitoring positions including bluetooth and USB, 2 new headphone amps, 3 speaker selects with a sub option and an app that allows you to use your mobile device for talkback. A great addition to any studio big or small!

The secret sauce

By Patrick from Los Angeles on March 8, 2019 Music Background: EDM Producer/DJ

Whats up everyone, I had the original D-Box and I had a black lion audio modification. I am probably the first to have this in Los Angeles, and this thing is so awesome. The headphones on the back make it easy to have multiple headphones on the front and back, the A/D is a lot more accurate, less distortion. Also I love the control from iphone and ipad, it makes it easy to work with clients and it impresses people.

The USB feature is also great if you have clients with laptop etc who rent out your studio. The summing is a lot better and the overall look of this thing is 2030 vibes instead of 2001. I am so impressed with this upgrade, my favorite feature is how I can hear my mixes and my masters and correct issues faster so I can get them finished. You can really hear the limiting on songs and compression, and there is less distortion when cranked at a loud volume. The stereo width is a lot better too.
