Cyclops is awesome.

By Pharaoh J. from Tucson Az
Music Background: Self taught drummer, guitarist and bass player.

I bought Cyclop watched the tutorial video and within 15 minutes of using it I wrote an entire Zydeco song with the first bass line I created in Fl Studio. It has been copyrighted and is now on my new Southern Soul CD.
I recommend it to anyone who loves a good simple and straightforward bass synth. It is not difficult to learn how to use it.

Good EDM synth

By Noah M. from Austin, TX
Music Background: Music producer

This is a good synth for EDM basses and leads but that's about it. You can get some other cool sounds out of it that are more usable in other genres namely glitch sounds and build up/break down fx. That being said it is designed as an EDM bass synth and that it does well.

So and So

By Sweetwater Customer

It seems like it has plenty of potential, but unless you're a really good sound designer, I don't think you can get really interesting sounds. It's certainly interesting. One thing that bothers me about it though is that when launched, the sound starts different each time. I wonder if this is due to a lack of osc sync?

Wow synth Bass

By Rich W. from Westford, MA USA
Music Background: Semi pro musician

What a great Bass, Lots of presets and thing to twiddle. I've been inspired to write quite a few songs from some of the presets. So much to do, nice layout to.

Not worth it

By Douglas C. from Livermore, CA
Music Background: Composer/Producer/Engineer/Keyboardist

I know I'm supposed to like Cylcop, but I don't. It sounds thin and raspy to me, and not in a good way. The user interface needs a lot of basic programming to get it user friendly. I spent time fooling around with it, watching videos, going through patches, reading the manual and I'm throwing in the towel for now.

+ Factory patches aren't ultimately useful in a full mix. They tend to have way to much going on.
+ Program feels like "new-ware" or beta-ware. Lots of UI problems and omissions.
+ Crashed on me a few times, like once/day. Ouch.
+ No way from within Cyclop to load a user patch. I had to d-click from the Finder.
+ No tool tips hints for names.
+ Wobble knob is continuous, not stepped. You cannot step between 1/16ths, then 1/8th triplets for example. Result is that you can't get it in perfect time with other tracks.
+ Manual poorly written. Only one tutorial video on Sugar-Bytes website.

Cyclop Is a Beast

By Brad G. from Jerome, ID USA
Music Background: Home Studio Producer, Musician

Cyclop is a pretty awesome mono bass synth. I have seen some interesting reviews for this VSTi hating on it for jumping on the wobble band wagon. While it is true that this synth is designed to work particularly well with wobble bass I find it is capable of much, much more. I find the sounds dirty and gritty (which is what i was looking for). I am pretty sure you could get some cleaner tones out of this bad boy but why would you want to? It comes with quite a few presets that are categorized into the appropriate categories. I have a feeling I will be using this synth long after the wobble bass trend has passed simply because it has some killer bass tones that I think will stand the test of time. Oh and the wobbles are out of this world sick by the way!

My GO TO Bass Synth

By T M. from Atlanta, GA
Music Background: Producer, Musician

Man this plugin is pretty FREAKING phenomenal. The sound can be as FAT & NASTY or as Clean and subtle as you need it to be. I was contemplating for about two weeks on whether to go ahead and get this or get a hardware Moog. I decided to go ahead and try it out. I don't regret it for one second. So the first time i make a full song with bass parts from this plugin i heard a few of my industry buddies comment on how nicely the Moog fit in the track. I laughed and told them it was the Cyclops plugin and they were floored. This is a Mono Synth with some great presets, but has pretty nearly endless possibilities if you are a tweaker. The sound right out of the gate is about 80-90% of the battle for great synth bass sound, but since the internal effects in the program are a bit limited, it definitely doesn't hurt to have other effects to fully polish the sound. All in All i'm a Fan.
