Walrus Audio Canvas Stereo Direct Injection Box Reviews

Passive Stereo Direct Box with Ground Lift, -15dB Pad, Line Injector Mode, Sum Switch, Sum XLR Switch, and XLR Phase Switch

Looking to lighten your rig? The Walrus Audio Canvas Stereo DI box offers a pristine and uncolored way to bring your sound to the live stage! This handy box boasts a completely flat 20Hz–20kHz response to serve as your sonic base, no matter what instrument you’re using. If you like to change up your gear often or run a multi-instrument setup, dual LI and DI modes offer optimal connection to both high-impedance and low-impedance sources. The Sum XLR switch conveniently merges the Left Out and Right Out signals into a mono balanced signal, while the XLR Phase switch corrects polarity issues in stereo configurations by flipping the Right Out signal relative to the Left Out. Moreover, a -15dB Pad switch — -35dB total when combined with the DI mode’s built-in pad — and a hum-reducing Ground Lift switch make the Walrus Audio Canvas Stereo DI box a hassle-free, all-in-one solution that ensures hooking up your live rig will be a breeze.

Exceeds expectations

By Sweetwater Customer

Great line level isolator. I use this coming out of the Boss GT-1000 core from so I get a clean TS unbalanced to XLR balanced signal to the stage box. Nice features like pad, optional DI, and more. Audio quality immediately improved. Great for people using a guitar modeler that comes out at line level from the 1/4 inch jack output. Improved clarity of tone greatly appreciated using this solution over the usual DI that venues provide. LI mode is a best practice solution for line level signals and I was surprised just how well this unit works. Simple, easy, the correct choice. Thanks to the folks a Sweetwater for recommending this unit.

Walrus Canvas DI/LI

By Ben R. from Akron, OH
Music Background: 20+ years of guitar

It's A-OK. I have it mounted under my Temple Audio TRIO 28 with the XLR MOD going out the side. It has to go all the way at the top back, but it fits well.

Awesome sounding little box

By Ezra from Bay Area
Music Background: Home studio guy, occasional live performance. Guitar , Vocals, bad drums

The hand wound transformers give this little DI a sweet tone on an LR Baggs M80.
Stereo unit is used for a line one and two, so wish there was individual pad, ground lift and line for each line, but, that's on me, not thane as this is made for a left and right signal. Maybe I'll get two mono boxes from them. Highly recommended.

Great DI

By Max from Wisconsin
Music Background: Guitarist / Engineer / Producer

I use this both in studio and live settings. It is well constructed, good looking, and functions as advertised. Great DI for my ampless rig, it was the secret sauce that optimized my amp/cab sim pedal.

Great utility box for amp modeling units. Fits under Temple Audio board nicely

By Simon A. from CHICAGO, IL

Bought this and the mono version to fit under my Temple Audio Duo board for use with my HX Stomp XL. Stereo version is hooked up to the Main L/R output and utilizing XLR and thru outputs patched into the side panel mounts. Signal is adjustable on the box in conjunction with signal level set from the Stomp and I can get a lot of healthy signal without the noise after tweaking.

Clever, attractive, good sound

By John B. from New Paltz, NY

I'm not going go nuclear in praise of a DI but my early experience with the Canvas has been completely satisfactory. The D.I/Line Isolator feature is really neat for me, as my primary use for this is routing audio out of a MainStage-running MacBook. Try both on whatever sources you are using. The mono-summing thru option are also a useful feature not found on many stereo DIs. Sound is, as far as I can tell, excellent. Size factor is great, and the look and tactile feel is great FWIW. But I write mostly to say that Sweetwater customer support is NO JOKE. I ordered the wrong DI for my purposes, a fact that became immediately clear to me upon unboxing. I needed the unit for a show that was four days away, and Adam Hunter made it happen with a day to spare (and to try out the kind of complicated rig out in advance.) I don't take that for granted. Sweetwater reps really step up and make miracles happen some times.

Works great, good features, perfect size!

By daniel M. from Canada

I tried this out on the weekend to go direct with my Strymon Iridium. The signal was really clear and strong, an improvement over the DI box that I was using. I love the features of this Canvas DI, and the size is fantastic for travelling.
