Sweetwater specifically selected the tonewoods for the OM-28 Cocobolo Custom acoustic guitar. These woods deliver not only best-in-class sound but also striking visual appeal with heavy figuring and lots of wood grain. The back and sides are crafted from cocobolo, a superb tropical tonewood that pairs brightness with strong low and midrange definition; cocobolo also shows off striking visual richness akin to rosewood. Meanwhile, a spruce top ensures a responsive feel with great projection. And the final touch? A mahogany neck topped with a black ebony fingerboard. Sweetwater chose a “Modified Low Oval” profile for this neck, and the black ebony fingerboard was selected for its appearance, which is delicately accented with Foden-style inlays that create distinguished minimalist appeal.
