Hi-hat Rod Cymbal Mount with Felts, Thumb Nut, and Drum Key Screw

Unlike bulky clamps and cymbal arms, the TAMA CSH5 Hat Stack securely mounts a splash, mini china, or FX cymbal right onto your hi-hat stand's pull rod. Now you can grab those quick accents without breaking your groove or disrupting your dynamics. This Hat Stack fits all pull rods up to 7mm in diameter. A simple drum key screw locks the bottom plate into place; two felt washers and an adjustable thumb nut give you as much cymbal sustain or control as you need. What Sweetwater most likes about the TAMA Hat Stack is its compact footprint and simple setup — this attachment easily fits into a cymbal bag at the end of the night. You can even leave the bottom plate in place without a significant difference in pull response.

Handy Little Cymbal Holder

By Boykster from Somewhere in Michigan
Music Background: Drums

Nice little piece of equipment. Using it to hold a 10" Wuhan Splash to the Hi-Hat rod. Puts that splash right where I want it.
A shout out to Zane Stackhouse, an awesome Sales Engineer!

Does the job!

By ETHAN Y. from Milwaukie, OR

I got this to mount an 8" splash above my 12" hi hats in a compact drum setup on a Yamaha Crosstown hi hat stand. I think it'll securely hold a 10" splash or a 12" swiss splash/crash. At that point you start running into stick real estate issues, less so with larger (13-16") hi hats. If you use the hi hat bell this makes it a bit more difficult but still plenty doable. I've never had a problem with it slipping at all. Also, because it adds weight, larger cymbals might change the responsiveness of your pedal.

It would get 5 stars if it had a nylon sleeve to sit between the splash and the metal so there's no metal-on-metal contact. As a result, you need to keep the tension fairly snug for two reasons:
1. Prevent keyholing (wear and tear) around the cymbal hole
2. If you keep it fairly loose, then you'll get some residual ring from the cymbal knocking against the metal threads while you play the hi hat which can clutter up the sound.

So I tension it just enough to eliminate that ring and prevent any noticeable movement that could cause keyholing, and it still rings out great. If I had to tension to the point of it changing the timbre just to prevent those two issues, then I'd rate it fairly low, but that hasn't been an issue at all. It's a great little way to sneak another small cymbal onto your setup, especially for compact kits!
