I needed a third tier to my Ultimate Stand and Sweetwater had the best price I could find anywhere. It shipped fast and it was super easy to install! By the way, this clamp works with both 18" and 13" tribars!

I have watched these Apex stands improve over the past 2 decades. They have always set the standard for style. I don't know why the AX90 was discontinued? I went to considerable effort to buy one but no one was selling. Back to the CMP-485 clamp. I bought 2 Apex AX48 Plus/Pro models which come with 2 13" and 2 18" arms. I want to purchase another set of 18" bars so I can have a stand with room for 2 wide boards. The literature makes it seem that a CMP-485 is required for the extra weight and 18" arms. But I can find no difference on my stands between the supports for the 13 or 18 inch arms. I think it is simply a marketing scheme to sell more CMP=485's supports. I can find no model or other printing on the supports. Or maybe the stands ship with 2 of the CMP485 supports - it is a mystery so I will save money and buy the 18" arms and use the stock supports. Otherwise the stands are very good and improvements good - completely self contained when taken down.

Good solid support clamp that also fits on the old style triangular Ultimate stand.

Great product. Installs easy on the new Apex AX-48 stand. The perfect solution to adding a third tier to your stand if you don't want to buy an extra stand for an additional keyboard. Great if your studio doesn't have much space. Just make sure the total weight of your boards doesn't exceed the stands specified weight capacity (250 lbs) Keyboards are getting lighter nowadays, so it's not a major issue unless you have older
boards.
