This Martin case is awesome. The case that comes with the Gibson 1942 banner is rubbish. It is not very practical. If you open the original case on a flat surface, it will rock back and forth, and the lid of the guitar case has too many uncertainties, so I decided to buy this case for the J45. Sure enough, this case fits the J45 perfectly. It is many times better than the Gibson case that comes with it. Although the case that was first sent was defective, after communicating with sweetwater after-sales service, they quickly replaced it with a good case for me. Thank you very much for the help of customer service Dakota. Very pleasant shopping experience. Once again, this case is many times better than the Gibson 1942 banner J45 case that comes with it.

Came with my CS Golden Era D-18. Very beautiful. Smells wonderful, like vanilla.

So TKL really came through with the familiar handle issue. I explained that the second handle was also coming apart and they sent me a new and improved (grained leather). Looks like they dealt with the issue with the original version...they now have screws holding the material on the ends of the handle. This one seems better made.
Case is still holding up very well.
Interesting to note that TKL does NOT show this case on their website. You can find the 533 case all over, but I think that is the 3 ply case.

Not my best decision ever. Within one week, the ends of whatever fake leather material is used for the handles came undone. Both sides are cheaply stapled down. Not what you'd expect from something that costs that much, with the Martin name on it.

The Martin 545 guitar case is the perfect fit for dreadnought guitars. Brandon, my service representative went out of his way to solve the mystery of case selection for my Martin d28. Man what a great business model and customer oriented business. I think Sweetwater is NUMBER 1.

Sturdy case... no arguments there... fits the guitar like a glove, however one of the latches kept coming loose and falling off of the rivet plate... since there are 5 other latches, I let that flaw go, but just yesterday, the weld of the inner handle support broke and the leather grip covering the weld didn't take long before it broke and now I have a sturdy case to rest my guitar, but carrying it is a drag now until I come up with a better solution. Looking back on this, it wasn't worth the $... for what I have now.

The guitar fits like a glove and the latches and hinges seem to be very high quality as well. I've had it for about 4 years now and it is holding up very well, one or two minor dings.
Great classic look with the protective strength you need for your precious Martin guitar (mine's a '53).
Expensive but worth it. Yes, it does have a "pleasant" scent to it...vanilla? I would prefer it didn't (now my guitar smells like it too). I prefer the old wood smell personally...oh well.

This case is gorgeous and exactly what a Martin should be in!! The stitching around the case looks awesome. It has a Martin oval emblem in gold that signifies it's a genuine Martin Case. The guitar is so secure inside.....there's no room to bump around. It has a very LIGHT vanilla scent.....not sure where that comes from....but it smells nice....not overpowering at all. Close all latches first and the locking latch LAST....couldn't be happier. Sweetwater's customer service is 5 star as well. I paid for expedited shipping (because of MY procrastination) it came the NEXT day!!

Case was beautiful, just the vintage look I was interested in and appeared well made. Just one problem...it stunk! I mean it smelled bad! I left it open to air for weeks, the odor still did not go away. It made my guitar smell and in fact the room I left it in smelled for more than a week even after I returned it. The Sweetwater team checked out other similar cases and said that is how they smell. I contacted the manufacturer TKL via email who said they purposefully mix vanilla or some scent into the adhesives they use for these cases. It smelled like a foul chemical...similar to formaldehyde and I did not feel that it was likely to go away. Such a shame since this product is made for Martin. If they can resolve this I will certainly buy one. Buyer beware.

This case not only fits perfectly but is remarkable in many ways. It exudes class. As a luthier, when I build a guitar, this is the case it comes with. Add a humidification system, engrave the brass plaque and it's ready to go. A fine instrument deserves the best.

I acquired this Vintage and Golden Era Series 14-fret model, item ID: C545EC, for Penelope, my 21-year old Martin D-42. Although the case may seem a bit high-priced, it is certainly worth every cent if you truly care about your fine acoustic guitar. The quality is exceptional and it is well-made! Its classic styling is evident at first glance and the comfortable padded handle, six nicely plated latches, and plush wine colored interior give it a touch of elegance.

The case is solid. Close the lid and the latches align, close each latch and the over-center latch action is just right resulting in a lid seal that will easily retain humidity at the right level. Penelope fits perfectly snug and safe. Plus there is plenty of room for a strap, capo, tuner, spare strings, and other small items.

Overall, the fit and finish of this case is without a doubt far more superior to the original Martin 640 molded plastic hard shell case.

Sweetwater has a great price on this case and the service, packing and shipping is incomparable!
