Each Boden J Artisan delivers peak Strandberg playability with your choice of a Honduran mahogany or swamp ash body (chambered for weight) along with Suhr pickups, a multi-scale fingerboard, and top-notch anodized hardware. MIJ twists manifest in the Boden J Artisan’s colorful aesthetics and intricate designs, which begin with your choice of a deluxe top carved from full moon maple, tochi chestnut, koa, or burl buckeye. Each guitar then receives detailed resin-filled artwork highlighting the woodgrain figuring with a stunning design that’s yours to treasure. Of course, such detail-rich guitars take time to make. Strandberg’s MIJ operation works in small batches — typically producing no more than 12 guitars per month. Strandberg partners with Sugi Guitars when crafting each breathtaking Boden J Artisan’s finish. Sugi Guitars has a storied history that dates to 1976. Today, it is considered one of Japan’s premier small-batch luthiers. Sugi’s founders have catered to a host of celebrity artists ranging from Steve Vai and ZZ Top to Joe Satriani and Jaco Pastorius, and the company takes pride in manifesting “the pinnacle of design.” With such a slogan, there’s no question as to why Strandberg and Sugi Guitars have joined forces to bring you the ultimate next-gen guitar: the Boden J Artisan.
Chambered mahogany body
This Boden J Artisan 6 puts a deluxe twist on Strandberg’s supremely comfortable body style with Honduran mahogany construction, a pinnacle tonewood species with a reputation for quality. The body is chambered to guarantee a lightweight instrument that aligns with the acclaimed Strandberg sound and feel. Honduran mahogany boasts exceptional resonance and sustain, not to mention enough sonic flexibility for practically any style.
A tonewood mosaic for eyes and ears
This Boden J Artisan 6 boasts a burl buckeye top that displays extreme woodgrain character but adds virtually nothing in terms of weight. Solid buckeye, as opposed to veneer, means you get a premium au natural look sure to impress for years to come. Burl buckeye’s famously rich woodgrain instantly draws the eye but takes on an unusually bright character for a burled species once paired with one of the J Artisan line’s uniquely colorful finishes. Moreover, an ebony fingerboard has replaced Strandberg’s typical fingerboard for an upgraded feel that’s as gorgeous as it is glassy-smooth.
Saucy Suhr pickups
This Strandberg Boden J Artisan comes equipped with a pair of powerful, coveted Suhr pickups. Loaded in the bridge is an SSH+, a tried-and-true high-output humbucker fully prepared for everything from dirt-tinged prog licks to destructive deathcore. The SSV humbucker's crystal clarity and smooth tone are ideal for the neck position and pair perfectly with the SSH+. Whatever sonic flavor you require, the Boden J Artisan's pickups are a surefire way of achieving the sonic results you seek.
EndurNeck profile and bolt-on design for comfort and playability
Strandberg’s acclaimed EndurNeck profile gets a premium treatment with the Boden J Artisan’s wenge neck, laced with purple heart strips for a rich finish that looks as good as it plays. The carbon fiber-reinforced neck sports a rear-shafted trapezoid shape, possessing incredible comfort and noticeable stability. Almost magically, you will feel your grip significantly relax when playing an EndurNeck, leading to longer playing times and fewer injuries. Moreover, the EndurNeck’s bolt-on construction and deep double-cut design enhance upper register access for heightened playability and a more focused punch — a welcome feature uncommon for many other bolt-on guitars.
