Modern performance Meets D’Angelico Style
Designed for players who want D’Angelico’s legendary aesthetics and tone in a pared-down, high-performance solidbody, the Premier Bedford is the perfect combination of style and elegance. The Bedford’s lightweight and resonant basswood body is loaded with a pair of clear and articulate Duncan Designed P-90s that can easily handle a variety of styles, from clean jazzy tones to high octane blues riffs. Supremely playable, the Bedford sports a comfortable “C” shape neck that boasts D’Angelico’s Set-through neck joint for easy high-fret access. These performance-minded features are paired with D’Angelico’s high-class style, including the iconic art-deco headstock, stairstep tuners, and an F-hole-inspired pickguard. All this adds up to an axe with the performance and playability that modern players require, with the style and pedigree of one of America’s most iconic guitar brands!

Duncan-designed P-90 pickups
The Premier Bedford delivers a wealth of articulate and snappy tones, courtesy of 2 Duncan Designed P-90s. One of the most classic pickups combinations there is, these dual P-90s produce a warm and full-range clean tone – but don’t be fooled by the name on the headstock! While this guitar delivers plenty of the Jazzy sounds that D'Angelico is world-famous for, it's just as adept at kicking out overdriven blues and rock riffs.

Curvy solidbody design
Traditionally, D'Angelicos are thought of as hollowbody jazz boxes. The Premier Bedford proves that D'Angelico is a bona fide electric guitar builder. The first of their solidbody instruments, the Bedford's curvy offset body is constructed of lightweight basswood. Paired with the set-in maple neck and fretboard, the Bedford creates incredible sustain and resonance that players will love. The guitar players here at Sweetwater love the unfinished "C"-shaped maple neck and the nearly microscopic neck joint. You'll have no trouble reaching the highest frets with complete comfort.
The D’Angelico legacy
After mastering his craft during an 18-year apprenticeship, luthier John D’Angelico opened his own shop in Manhattan’s Little Italy in 1932. Catering to New York’s many jazz musicians over the ensuing three decades, D’Angelico and a single apprentice became New York’s foremost stringed instrument builders, creating over one thousand treasured archtop guitars until John’s death in 1964. After his passing, the D’Angelico’s legacy lived on only through his rare, legendary instruments. After decades, the D’Angelico brand has resurfaced, bringing back the playability and attention to detail of the company’s New York roots. Today, Sweetwater is delighted to offer this fine line of distinguished instruments. D’Angelico uses state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and the finest available materials to create playable works of art for today’s guitarist. From a modest shop in Little Italy to the world stage, D’Angelico’s dedication to quality craftsmanship ensures that this brand won’t be going dormant again any time soon.
