It automatically generates a complete professional-quality arrangement of piano, bass, drums, guitar, strings, or horns in a wide variety of popular styles, plus optional live audio tracks with RealDrums and RealTracks.
Audio Chord Wizard
The Audio Chord Wizard will analyze the composition of any imported audio track and turn it into a Band-in-a-Box chord sheet you can use for onboard accompaniment, just like magic. An incredibly powerful learning tool that fast-tracks song learning and analysis, the Audio Chord Wizard is especially useful as a teaching tool. Use it for yourself to demystify the chords of your favorite songs, or use it to help students rapidly dive into theory and composition via songs they already know and recognize.
Endless RealTracks and samples
The Band-in-a-Box 2023 Pro library for Mac includes 590+ RealTracks, 100+ RealDrums, 64 MIDI SuperTracks, over 750 MIDI styles, 100 MIDI Soloists, 60 MIDI Melodists, 22 Artist Performances, and over 1,000 loops with robust search tools for intuitive navigation. RealTracks, comprising one of Band-in-a-Box's flagship features, are original live backing tracks that bristle with energy! Far more than a traditional sample, RealTracks are bars of rhythm, melody, percussion, and even vocals performed by studio musicians with the snap and prowess of authentic live music. Typically lasting from 1 to 8 bars, RealTracks are tailored for use with Band-in-a-Box’s other accompaniment tools, with over 600 hours of studio recordings. RealDrums
RealDrums, one of Band-in-a-Box's most beloved features, lets players inject their practice with the vitality of genuine live drums. In the past few years, we've seen MIDI turn the music world upside down, but for many genres, there’s a certain depth, timbre, and feeling that's best captured through analog drumming. Together, PG Music and professional drummers created each Band-in-a-Box RealDrums track and infuse it with authentic live nuance and pep that makes for an immersive at-home playing experience. The RealDrums feel helps you squeeze authentic emotion and soul from your work for improved practice, writing, and recording outcomes. Moreover, RealDrums can be exported as stems, modified in real time, and even toggled for variety via Regeneration.
Customizable 32-channel accompaniment
With 2023’s new updated 32-channel support for MIDI instruments, Band-in-a-Box lets you build full tracks with ample room for intricate arrangements and experimentation. Editing accompaniment styles is easy via StyleMaker and StylePicker, which let you infuse backing tracks with cadences that feel authentic to your style.
Intelligent Soloist and Melodist modes

Audio input
Band-in-a-Box lets you record and add vocals and acoustic or MIDI-controlled instruments to your songs right in the program. The audio input feature is perfect for composing and seeing how your original parts fit in with a full band or accompaniment. For recording other instruments, Band-in-a-Box comes with a DAW integrated plug-in.
DAW plug-in
The included DAW plug-in makes it possible to use Band-in-a-Box in tandem with your favorite recording software (i.e., Pro Tools, PreSonus StudioOne, and more). You can automatically turn Band-in-a-Box chord sheets into MIDI markers for your DAW and expand your compositions with personalized instrumentation played by you.
Share your accomplishments
Band-in-a-Box’s powerful sharing tools are great for showing off your creations and building professional arrangements for other musicians. Once you’ve completed a draft, you can share creations digitally or print a hard copy.
