Cinematic Stringscapes
Like its big sibling Synchron FX Strings I, Vienna Symphonic Library Big Bang Orchestra: Regulus delivers enrapturing cinematic stringscapes infused with hypnotic evolving textures, suspense-packed risers, breathtaking tensions, and more. Recorded with a 50-piece string orchestra in the glorious acoustics of VSL’s world-class scoring stage, Synchron Stage Vienna, BBO: Regulus arms you with production-ready musical textures and loops that are perfect for scoring everything from ethereal soundscapes to melodic ornaments, suspense clusters, aggressive hits, and pulsing rhythms. From lightly bowed murmurs to thunderous swarms, contained within are a cornucopia of effects and unconventional playing techniques originally sampled for Synchron FX Strings. These unique textures let you easily create a rainbow of tonal colors and complete sonic universes with just one or two keys, changing intensity or adding variety by tweaking pre-configured controllers.
As does Synchron FX Strings I, BBO: Regulus content is divided into the following categories: Spherical Textures; Character Textures; Glissandos, Rises and Hits; Clusters; Harmonic Effects; Pizzicato Effects; Special Pads; and “Inspiration Crossfades.” You’ll find that Regulus is a veritable treasure trove of tonal and atonal sonic elements you can blend with anything to create your own signature sound. A total of 50 microphones were used to capture a broad selection of positions from close to ambient; in the Synchron Player’s integrated mixer, these are consolidated in 16 channels that offer close mic signals of each ensemble, front and back mics, Decca tree, main surround, and high surround signals. For instant gratification, you have immediate access to perfectly balanced mixer presets ranging from optimized stereo room mixes to immersive audio formats. BBO: Regulus is a full-featured collection with all the categories of effects and textures offered by Synchron FX Strings I (and all its mic positions). Upgrading to Synchron FX Strings I, however, gives you more than double the data size, with additional half-tremolo bowing, denser and more quickly played texture variants, plus slower glissandos and runs, and more.

About Synchron Stage Vienna
Synchron Stage Vienna, located on Vienna’s historic Wiener Rosenhüegel, can accommodate a 130-piece orchestra and has proven its mettle over the decades not only for film score recording, but also for sampling sessions. With its massive concrete foundation, room-in-room construction, sound insulation, and specially designed HVAC system, the studio boasts an ultra-low noise floor of 16dBA, even with the air conditioning running. Stage A sports a reverb time of 1.8 seconds — and unlike many other scoring stages, there is no low-frequency masking effect. Instruments sound warm and punchy, with superior depth and panoramic localization.
First-call musicians, first-class samples
At Sweetwater, we hold the Vienna Symphonic Library in high regard; that’s because we’re picky about our orchestral samples. It all starts with the musicians. Since VSL’s inception, first-call musicians have been providing the sound and character of these instruments as soloists and ensemble leaders. As Europe’s finest A-list session players, they have contributed their talents to countless film and television scores. Vienna Symphonic Library’s no-compromise approach is largely responsible for the impressive sonic authority and authenticity we have come to expect from VSL virtual instruments.
