I had resisted getting a backrest for my throne for years. I lean forward when I play, and I thought there was no way that backrest was going to support my back if I am not even contacting it. WRONG!!! As I get older, my back was really barking at me after just one set. I sent for this backrest, and I was joyfully surprised. The back is adjustable and tucks perfectly against my lumbar region. I just adjusted to it unconsciously, and it has been fantastic! AS a result, it has relieved me of back issues and, surprisingly, has improved my technique! Don't ask me how, but the support and comfort I now enjoy while playing makes me much more relaxed and has really improved many facets of my playing. It is worth every penny.

I love the throne but the backrest not as much. I'm sure for someone without back problems it would be more helpful. For me I could never get the adjustments where they needed to be. Don't get me wrong, it's very sturdy, plush and easy on the eyes.

Without back issues I would give it at least 4 stars.

The seat is awesome but despite high hopes the back rest wasn't comfortable.

the bracket is cheap construction and completely engineered wrong. I would return it but I was beyond the return date when I got it set up to use because I travel on the road. I would say the entire thing is overpriced.

I had one of theses years ago, then stopped playing and got rid of all my gear and accessories. I started playing guitar in March and after two uncomfortable seat purchases, returned to the RocNSoc. It's well worth the extra money.

It was very difficult to assemble (the bracket almost didn't fit in the seat!), and the height of the backrest is not adjustable. But, it gets the job done.

I bought this for my Roc ~N~ Soc Drum Chair and installed it with very little effort, It looks and matches very nicely with the chair and works really well as a unit. If you have a bad back or just need occasional back support or a way to rest your back then this is a good investment for you.

I bought a similiar throne from Sweetwater a few months ago in black for one of my sets and love it..I thought this time for my 2 nd set i would get it in a red color...I knew the top quality of Roc n Soc from my black throne but this red blew me away...Gorgeous elegant red....Product is outstanding.

Came with no hex wrench and no instructions. I should have paid attention to the one reviewer who had same issue on this. The Roc n Soc throne itself is great.

Take it from someone who has a bad back, this is a back saver. The only thing I wish was different is I wish it would raise a little bit higher.

No complaints about the product -- have owned several in the past and have been using faithfully since the product came out (that's a really, really long time!). Many many gigs, rehearsals, and studio sessions.

The backrest is key to a drummer's longevity and physiological well-being. However, watch out for quality control -- on the part of both manufacturer and retail outlet (i.e. SW). The item I received was badly scuffed around the outer plastic rim and also did not include a hex wrench for 'easy installation' of the backrest. It used to in the past, so maybe doesn't anymore BUT: bear in mind that you will need this for installation. Using an insecure or loose backrest can cause injury while playing, believe it or not.

Sadly, the return policy here is not as easy as one would expect and the ability to receive a return label quickly is woefully out of date. Might as well order from Amazon I guess -- that is a real shame! I suspect SW will edit this out but, in any case, I hope it gets its act together on this front.
