Crash and Ride with Trashy Accents

The Meinl Cymbals 16" Byzance Extra Dry Dual Crash uses a special combination of hammering and lathing to add a distinct voice to your drum kit. Dual playing surfaces allow you to play this cymbal as a ride as well as a crash for trashy accents. The timbre is basically dark, with complex tonality and smooth, shimmering highs. The sustain and volume are relatively low, which Sweetwater drummers like as a contrast to louder cymbals in their drum sets. When you want the versatility of a crash/ride cymbal, you'll be pleased with the sound of the Meinl Cymbals 16" Byzance Extra Dry Dual Crash Cymbal.

Top of the line beauty!!

First purchase of meinl's dual series and couldn't be more happier with it. Looking to add more to my Arsenal. Dark yet bright, trashy yet full bodied, explosive yet quick in decay. If that is what you are looking for then look no further. As they are many different types of other lines and brands to me none of them capture that essence and description as meinl does.

Beautiful Sound

I needed a good ride cymbal small enough to fit in my suitcase drumkit without sounding like a trashcan lid. This cymbal ticks all the boxes. It sounds so good live during a garage jam or improv in a park, and with the short sustain it fills out a groove without over-staying its welcome. Great response on the bow for jazz with a nice crash to boot. And the look of this cymbal is just so good too. This has effortlessly become my favorite cymbal, and I'll likely get the 18" at some point as well. I can't recommend this one enough.

Great sound - complements well with other cymbals!

I love the 16" version of this cymbal. While it's quieter than a more traditional crash, it's still loud enough and really complements my other, more traditional crashes. Its initial attack is surprisingly bright. The videos produced by Meinl that accompany the listings do a good job of capturing the sound of the cymbal. And the look is really more impressive in person than on video. It's a beautiful cymbal. I'm going to be adding an 18" Dual, and I'm looking forward to hearing how the 16" sounds with the 18".

Meinl man

When I started to play drums there were only two kinds of cymbals: Ziljian, and cheep stuff made mostly of God knows what. Since then, I've played everything. Lots of very good brass available today. But Meinl is just in a different class. Sounds you can't get from other brands. Most recently I was playing Paiste Signatures, but now I'm a Meinl man, and the 16" Byzance will NOT disappoint.

Simply wonderful

When I stumbled across this Drum cymbal, I was not familiar with this manufacturer. So I ordered it and found it to be the best sounding drum cymbal I have ever played on. The crash has a wonderful brilliant sound that quickly dissipates as to not take over the melodic Tones of the song. Have to purchasing that, I want on a spending spree and now play nothing but Meinl. Watch the video on how they make symbols in Turkey. Every time I hit this thing I think about all of the guys that hammered this thing to perfection. It's like playing on a work of art. Apart from not answering their emails, Meinl is wonderful.
