Better yet, you still have full access to your standard magnetic pickups. Pick one or the other or both, and watch your creative options expand exponentially! The jack auto-senses whether you're running your rig in stereo or mono and adjusts accordingly: when you're in mono, the Acousti-Phonic Kit sums the piezo and magnetic signals to mono; in stereo, the piezo and magnetic signal come out on different channels. Very clever! All you need to do is add the appropriate style Graph Tech saddles to your guitar to complete the Acousti-Phonic Kit and take your sound places you never dreamed!
Put this is a zillion guitars
Works great, love this preamp, especially with LR Baggs piezo saddles (like their tune-o-matic bridge replacement). Don't know why anyone would put this preamp with ACTIVE EMG pickups, that makes no sense, the EMGs are active and therefore ALREADY have a preamp in each pickup (hence the requirement for 9v batteries on any active EMG guitar). Anyway, this preamp is for PIEZO saddles, or PASSIVE pickups, but NOT ACTIVE. Don't use it for active pickups, you won't have a problem.
Installation is a nightmare and can never get it to function properly
The instructions provided are all over the place and are very difficult to understand if you are not very well versed in electrical components. If you have modular EMG pickups and components this is going to be a very difficult install process to understand and get working. The company is nice and available to speak with you but are not very helpful if you are not well versed in electrical components. Would only recommend if you have someone knowledgeable install this for you.
