19" Big Beat Crash/Ride

Top off your kit with the Paiste Big Beat sound. This Paiste 2002 Big Beat Crash/Ride cymbal delivers a deep, warm, complex, and vibrant sonic character that works brilliantly across genres. The sensitive and responsive Big Beat feel is ideal for any drummer: professional, novice, or in between. The beautiful bell sound of this cymbal joins with a lush, warm crash with quick fade and nicely defined ping to give you a cymbal that works great in most settings for both crash and ride duties.

Paiste - a tradition of innovation

Headquartered in Switzerland, Paiste meets the creative needs of drummers and percussionists with innovative cymbals, gongs, and bronze percussion instruments. Founded at the beginning of the twentieth century, Paiste lays claim to a number of cymbal firsts, including the first use of 8% bronze, the wavy-edged hi-hat bottom cymbal, the bell-less flat ride, unlathed hammered cymbals, color-coated cymbals, China cymbals with a downturned edge, and the invention of their signature bronze alloy. World-class drummers such as Bill Bruford, Stewart Copeland, and Vinnie Colaiuta - and many of the drummers here at Sweetwater - rely on Paiste cymbals to forge their signature sounds, and you can, too!

Cannon Shots

After exclusively playing Zildjian cymbals for my long career, I bought two Paiste 2002 Big Beat (Black) Cymbals (18" & 19") for my set. I was not (nor am I) disappointed with my large variety of Zildjians, some of which I prize. But after watching Brian Tichy's "Effective Triplets" video for Drumeo in which he uses Paiste (18", 19", 20", and 22") I fell in love with the crash tones produced by the 18" & 19" cymbals, and had to have them. The Paistes — officially unclassified as either crash or ride — produce BIG crashes that explode and expand through the room like the new universe milliseconds after the Big Bang. Big as their sound is, the swells do not linger and overstay their welcome by ringing over the following measure, as many heavy, large crash cymbals can. Their tones fill solidly in the mid-range, and will never be confused as splashy, tinny, or too high-pitched. These are Big Boys and will need to be augmented by other cymbals for short-duration, less robust, more sensitive sounds, and dedicated large ride cymbals for delicate pings and tip-work. I was looking for cannon shots, and I got them.
