Ray Gonzalez
Ray Gonzalez
Born and raised in a church in New York, I have been immersed in the world of music for as long as I can remember. From a very young age I was enamored with all different styles and genres, ranging from rock and metal, to soul and funk. Before long, I found myself singing and playing the guitar. I acquired a Strat, learned some songs from Pink Floyd, and delved deep into the world of rock. That was the beginning of a passion that has since fueled an obsession with music and gear that perseveres to this day. Since then, I've expanded out into the bass guitar, keyboards, and synthesis, as well as a variety of virtual instruments. Over the years, I have also found myself working on electric guitars, performing modifications and repairs, in both a personal and professional capacity.
For the last decade, I have run a project studio that has been a major source of inspiration and excitement in my life. It has been used extensively for my own personal music production purposes, where I've written, recorded, mixed, and mastered my own work, as well as mixed and mastered for other musicians. I have also used the studio as a hub for helping others learn about music, recording, and guitar playing. I love teaching others about the things I love most and sharing the passion that has motivated me my entire life!
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

Technical strengths:
I am highly experienced with guitars and their associated elements. Everything from the guitars themselves, to amps, pedals, effects, amp modeling, as well as modifications and customizations.
-
Instruments you play:
My primary instrument is the electric guitar. It's what I use for composition and songwriting, as well as general stress-relief. I love playing bass and keys, both for enjoyment as they're a ton of fun, but also in my studio. When it comes to keyboards, I'm a huge fan of analog synthesizers!
-
Other stuff we should know about you (hobbies, talents, interests, etc.):
I have a passion for technology. I've been building computers from a very young age and I've really enjoyed the process of putting together new rigs for myself and others every now and again. While I've been using Apple products more as of the last few years, I still find myself dreaming of my next big project!
-
Personal motto:
Anything that's worth doing, is worth doing right.
-
Favorite magazine:
Sound On Sound! Always great content to be found in there.
-
Guilty pleasure of choice:
I'm a big fan of musical theater. While it might not be the most "rock & roll" choice, some amazing musicians and singers populate the realm and it's nothing short of amazing to listen to!

What in your background prepared you most to help your customers with their audio needs?
Having been through the process of growing as a musician as well as running my own project studio, I have been through a lot of successes and failures. Having learned a ton from that, I can pass valuable knowledge along to my customers to help them find the right solutions for their needs.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the Sweetwater team?
Being a part of such a positive and talented group of people is not only inspiring and exciting, but also humbling and eye-opening.
Interview with Ray...

I help my daughter with her live music work and rely on Ray and Sweetwater to give me great ideas, I just bought her the self rising stands for her big speakers. Great review from my son in-law who is her live sound engineer. Most of their gear has been purchased through Sweetwater credit. Lastly w, when her Bose Busker speaker broke my son in law called... you shipped a new one in time to meet their performance date with instructions to send the failed unit back in the same box, Now that is great customer service.

As far as I’m concerned, I like working one on one with Tech questions and ordering new gear, you get to build a business and personal relationship. Ray Gonzalez has made that possible for me. When I call he knows who I am and what I’m working on. He is always happy to hear from me and is eager to help! He has went above and beyond! Unlike any other customer service I have ever had! Thank you Ray and Sweetwater PS, my kids love the candy thanks.

Absolutely amazed by the personal service on our order! It is obvious customer satisfaction is a priority. Your company would be the first place we would look for music related items. Great prices, great service and BTW, even the little touch of adding some candy made my kids very pleased! Thank you!

I have to say it's the most personal order I've ever made from the pre-ship phone call, to the email, and finally the candy in the box. Thanks! I don't think I could beat the customer service even in a local shop
