Michael Ramey
Michael Ramey
Hello!
I moved here from Bogota, Colombia where I've been living with my wife and 2 young children the past couple of years, and am originally from Columbus, Ohio. I have been working in the music industry in some capacity for over a decade now, and have done everything from playing in an internationally touring band to working at a retail store to working in a professional studio. I absolutely love to talk about gear and help people of any skill level get their hands on the perfect gear for them.
I also spend pretty much every waking moment outside of work and family time recording music, doing freelance audio editing work for a team of AI developers, and doing soundtrack work for indie films.
I absolutely love how working here enables me to be in touch with so many musicians of all different walks of life, and I can't wait to speak with you!
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

What was your occupation before coming to Sweetwater?
Immediately before Sweetwater, I've spent the last 3 years helping my wife run 2 family owned private grade schools in Bogota, Colombia.

Technical strengths:
I've been recording in both my home studio and professional studios for over a decade now. I've owned pretty much every interface on the market at one point or another. If you have any questions about microphones, interfaces, or outboard gear I love to talk about that stuff. I am also very much into synths of all kinds and guitar pedals!
-
Instruments you play:
I'm a multi-instrumentalist with over 20 years of experience playing various instruments such as guitar (acoustic, electric, and bass), piano, synthesizer, brass (trumpet and baritone), and sitar/tanpura. If it makes sound, chances are I've at least attempted to learn to play it.

Family info:
I am the father of three amazing boys - Lucian is 15 and literally the best keys player I have had the pleasure of hearing. Sebastian is 5 and incredibly intelligent, opinionated, and an all around cool guy. Santiago is 3 and I can't take him outside without him being mobbed by his adoring fans because he is just that cute.
