Matt Zuleger
Matt Zuleger
I have been with Sweetwater since 2014. I grew up in a household of musicians so music has been a part of my life since birth. My father is a fantastic jazz fusion/funk drummer and my mother is an amazing ballroom dancer. My father put a snare drum in my hands before I could walk. My father was also in the military so I grew up to a very regimented and organized lifestyle. Little did I know that would be my biggest help when I wanted to start guitar when I was 14. So when I picked up my first guitar the perfectionist in me drove me to become better at my craft. All I wanted to do was write my own music so I taught myself how to play.
Since then I now run a YouTube channel for my solo music with 17,000+ followers and over 3 million total views. When I began playing guitar I also wanted to record what I was playing so I taught myself how to record as well. I have a passion for music and the gear that makes it and for the last 15 years I’ve had the pleasure of working with and helping many musicians around the world. I have the utmost confidence that I’ll be able to help you in any aspect of your musical journey and I would love to be a part of it along the way.
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

What was your occupation before coming to Sweetwater?
I worked in the receiving department at Sears for 2 years before joining Sweetwater. I then joined the receiving team at Sweetwater where I eventually became the lead of inbound freight. While doing those jobs I was also running a home studio and selling my albums.
-
Why did you first apply for a job at Sweetwater?
I have been a long time customer of Sweetwater since I started playing guitar in 2006. I live locally to Sweetwater and it was like a second home for me. I've always had great relationships with the people that work here and kept me coming back. In the back of my mind I always knew I wanted to work for Sweetwater. Sweetwater is completely in line with my passions in life and the culture here is familiar to me, it's like one big family. I just knew I wanted to be a part of that family.

Technical strengths:
I am very proficient in guitar. When I was young I discovered a program on my Windows 98 PC that allowed me to edit audio and that was my first taste of recording and production. From that moment on I knew I wanted to be recording and mixing. I specialize in mixing and production. Not having a lot of gear as a kid I learned how to create great sounding recordings with a minimalistic approach. I have since built my own studio where I specialize in recording instruments like drums, all forms of guitar, and vocals. I am also proficient in building PCs as well.

Instruments you play:
Guitar, bass.

Other stuff we should know about you (hobbies, talents, interests, etc.):
My biggest side hobby is disc golf. I have been playing for several years now and play several rounds a week. I am also a pretty big car enthusiast. I own a tuned Audi S3 with several aesthetic and performance modifications. I enjoy actively going to car shows, drag races, and the track. Since my father and his side of the family is from Italy, Formula 1 and Ferrari has been huge part of my life since childhood. I also enjoy building computers. I have been passionate about computers ever since my grandfather built my first one when I was ten.
-
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Sweetwater team?
The fact that Sweetwater is one big family. I come from a family that is relatively small and we're all extremely close to each other. My family is the kind that is constantly passing things down, whether it be materialistic or knowledge, we're all willing to help each other no matter the cost. Sweetwater gives me that same experience. The relationships that I've built here are priceless and will hopefully last a lifetime. Best of all I'm surrounded by musicians that are some of the smartest and most inspiring people I've ever met.
-
What is the most important thing you've learned at Sweetwater?
Do the right thing. As mentioned before I would do anything for my family and that's exactly what we try to extend to our customer's here.

I actually contacted Matt Zuleger because he is my husband's "Sales Engineer". I wanted to surprise my husband with items off of his wish list. Matt went above and beyond to make sure I could order these items and my husband would NOT get any notifications. Everything worked perfectly, and my husband was surprised! I would recommend Matt to ANYONE, even non-musical people like me.
