Mac Hatton
Mac Hatton
Hey! I'm Mac Hatton. I've been with Sweetwater since 2004 and I've been involved in recording and production for almost 20 years. Before coming to Sweetwater, I worked in Nashville including three years working at a large (7 studios) facility. I also did freelance work, editing, programming and engineering.
Sweetwater hours are more accommodating to my wife and two kids, so I made the move to Indiana. In addition to studio work, I spent a number of years mixing front of house and I continue to spend time in the studio. This professional studio and live sound experience helps me provide you with the solutions you need for your set up, be it studio, live installed sound or mobile recording. I've also set up numerous solutions for mobile churches.
I look forward to helping you with the next step in your audio journey. Give me a call!
As your personal contact here at Sweetwater, please let me know anytime I can offer help or advice.

What was your occupation before coming to Sweetwater?
Engineer/Programmer/Editor
-
Why did you first apply for a job at Sweetwater?
Sweetwater gave me the chance to stay involved in audio, but have "normal" hours so that I could spend time with my wife and kids. I've been here since 2004 and have yet to be here at 2 a.m., drinking stale coffee to keep working!

Gear you own:
Pro Tools + Complete Production Toolkit, Studio One Pro, Maschine a (virtual) pile of soft synths and samplers, MPC 2000 XL, CD turntable. Event 2020 monitors. An ever-growing collection of microphones. Thousands of drum samples.
-
Family info:
Beautiful wife, Carrie and two amazing kids, Kaleb and Carissa.
-
Favorite magazine:
Tape Op. I hang on to back issues until they fall apart. It's the only magazine I've kept every issue of since I started subscribing, back in 2001.
-
Guilty pleasure of choice:
The Andy Griffith Show. I've got just about all of the black and white episodes on tape (yes, I still keep a VCR around), and can pick up dialogue in just about any episode wherever I hit play.
-
What did you dream about doing for a living when you were growing up?
Something related to music. When I learned what an engineer was, that's what I wanted to do. The first time I walked into a studio, that was it for me, I was hooked.

Describe the most dramatic situation in which you provided the Sweetwater Difference for a customer, or the most unusual/creative solution to a customer's problem:
I have a client who invested quite a bit into a very nice studio, and his engineer/wiring guy bailed on him early in the install process, leaving him stranded with a very nice, non functioning studio. I arranged to come in and re-wire his studio, then use it that week to record a band that I had previously scheduled for a remote recording. The session went off without a hitch and I was able to leave my client with a working studio.
-
What in your background prepared you most to help your customers with their audio needs?
The countless hours spent in studios, venues and geeking out in manuals.
Interview with Mac...

I've worked with Mac Hatton off and on for at least the past 5 years, and every transaction has been a pleasure. He is very attentive, and makes sure that you are satisfied with the sales process. Further, he is very easy to talk to, and it never feels as though the conversation is forced in any way. Some sales representatives are (for lack of a better word) awkward, when it comes to the general "back and forth" of a conversation. With Mac, it is always as if we went to high school together, and just haven't seen each other for awhile. I appreciate his efforts.

There are only a few companies I have ever found easier to deal with than Sweetwater, and they are not in the music retail business. My salesman Mac Hatton is second to none for knowledge, cooperation, and an overall great attitude. Sweetwater allowed me to buy with complete confidence. They only work with the best, and the entire orginization from top to bottom is in the loop, and they all get it. Being a musician for all my life, and running a very respectable textile business I admire the entire organization Chuck has built. And the best part is it keeps getting better all the time!!

I've lost track of how many times I've ordered from Sweetwater, through Mac Hatton, my Sales Engineer. Each time, Mac's courteous, friendly, professional service has been exceptional. I've been buying musical equipment since 1969 when I purchased a Silvertone from Sears and my first Marshall at Rose Morris,London. Mac stands out above everyone that I have dealt with over the years. His excellent service and prices will keep me coming back. Thanks Mac.

Mac has been very helpful in all of my purchases from Sweetwater and a great source of information anytime I’ve asked, about any product. My “direct connection” with Mac is comforting knowing that I can count on him to be straight with me.
